Shoved this country into a crisis by his words and actions?
IMO yes he has.
I don’t feel the need to list the reasons why because they are laid out in the various political threads on the board.

Another question that literally does not need asking or answering.

I would have thought the answer to this was GLARINGLY OBVIOUS, a LONG, LONG, LONG time ago already.

Why do you continue to ask questions like this? You know very well which way most of this board leans so why even ask?

Yes. I believe he amplified the division in this country even before he was elected in 2016 (starting with the birther movement and putting down Obama) and has just worsened over the last 10 years. Now we are also going to suffer from shrinking economy, long lasting hatred and distrust towards the US, set backs in rights, environmental protections, education and research for decades to come. That is, if we even come out of this in a way that is easy to reverse course.

What is obvious for sine may not be obvious for others. I guess I can see your point. BUT- your asking it again and again, in different ways, STILL may not make them see it. Just saying.

Actually I don’t think I do. Yes I post all the negative things the idiot & company do. But I don’t believe I have said in the past we are in a crisis before. Mainly it never occurred to me. I pretty much took last week off from what the idiot was doing. When I checked back in on Sunday I saw that picture of the people in that club in Colorado Springs raided by ICE looking for undocumented folks. Here were these folks standing or sitting on the floor with their arms up. I looked at that picture and thought how wrong that was and how that is not who we are. Yes immigration needs to be fixed yet again. No question. But not like this. And I realized this country was really in trouble because of trump. He is winning in making his version of America first. Like I said sometimes one can’t see what’s in front of them. Now I do. Unfortunately millions of Americans still don’t. On both sides of the political spectrum. And that is a problem.

In 2016 we had trump 1.0. In 2024 we have trump 2.0 who learned from his mistakes which makes more destructive to this country. ”BREAKING: Trump Orders Hegseth and Bondi to ‘Determine How Military’ Can Be Used in Domestic Law Enforcement. And you said that could never happen. He’s preparing to stop the protests across America. Now what?” x.com/commons96055467/status/1917062937682055310?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nw

That raid was not carried out by ICE, it was done by the DEA after months of surveillance. CNN article. Just another misleading statement by you to keep your blindly loyal little group riled up because you know they won’t bother to verify anything you post.

I’m not a fan of these types of raids this big. What if both sides had guns and a gun battle erupted?

You specifically called it an ICE raid which was incorrect. Stop trying to justify your misleading statement.

Did a gun battle erupt??? No it didn't. Who cares how many agencies were involved or if you aren't a fan of raids this big? That's why people like you don't work for those agencies. I would think that it should make you happy that they got the job done safely and efficiently.

I believe that trump has no idea what he’s doing. I would like to be wrong about that, but I don’t think so. I believe that at least some policy is being run by aides like Stephen Miller; a thought that should scare everyone. I don’t think that trump understands tariffs-or at least he didn’t when he imposed them-and has no idea how this will affect ordinary people. More importantly, he doesn’t seem to care. The big clue was how pissed he got when he found out that Amazon was reportedly going to list the added cost of tariffs on some goods so that customers could see them.
Here’s how his press secretary reacted:
“ White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, citing a report that Amazon plans to display tariff charges on imported goods, called the move "a hostile and political act."
The e-commerce giant plans to display new tariff costs next to products' prices, political news site Punchbowl reported earlier Tuesday, citing a person familiar with the matter. The move would provide shoppers with clarity into the cost of the new levies on imported goods.”
Calling it a “hostile political act” was interesting. Clearly the WH does not want consumers to know the added cost of those tariffs. Why not? I thought that trump was all about transparency. 🤔

I've been tuned in to his vileness since way back before he entered the political arena. Believe it or not because of old magazines in a doctor's office waiting for my mom. I read an article about him in a reputable magazine (Time or Life?) and although I already had a feeling he was a goof with an inheritance at best, what I read he put people through had me aghast. After that I'd often couldn't not look at things concerning him, kind of like a car crash.
More than once recently I said something in conversation making reference of some current events involving him and his administration. Something I'd think everyone would know of, approve or disapprove disregarded. Blank stares. Many that don't approve of him don't know (or care?) of the extent of things. Those that do approve of him, approve of everything, ignore or don't know/don't care.
The bottom line of much of both sides to me is lack of empathy or caring until it hits home directly. Unfortunate. When the time comes for them to care will it be too late?
