Results are slowly starting to come in. Polls just closed for Ontario now.
Feeling hopeful but anxious….

I got a little nervous for you looking at prediction maps until I realized that your red and blue represent the opposite sides of the political spectrum that they do here.
We're pulling for you!

My stomach is in knots. The polls were crazy busy when we went.
Elbows up!

And we have orange and green thrown in there as well. But I don't see either of those colours making any leaps this election.

I am staying positive the Liberals will win. It’s like the way people want to go home when times get tough — the Liberlas are comfortable and home.
Trump’s comment about our election being for him was disgusting.

Both CTV and CBC have called the election for the Liberals. I am so relieved.

I'm happy with how things are going.
I took my parents to vote first thing this morning, and because I vote at a different polling station, I went just after. Hardly anybody was at either place.

Canada is left red liberal and right blue conservatives. Whether who I voted for wins or not it always sucks when the election is over before the polls have even closed in the west. Makes it feel like your vote doesn't count.

Thank you, Canada! I'm glad someone on this continent has some sense.
I hope this will be a strong message to the US Congressional Republicans that Trump is a loser. While I'm happy to see them lose in 2026, I'd be even happier if someone in Washington grew a spine and stood up to the administration now.

I’m so stressed. I’m glad they’ve predicted a Liberal win, but unfortunately it looks like a minority government. I hope they’re wrong about that.

When do the advance voting numbers get done? Will they be counted tonight?

When do the advance voting numbers get done? Will they be counted tonight? AFAIK all the votes are counted on election day, regardless of when they were cast. Almost all the ridings have reported back by now.

UGH - my riding did not get the assignment. They'd vote in a monkey if he wore a blue suit. The local conservative guy has held the seat for 20 years. He's really nice, but ever since Andrew Sheer was head of the party I will not vote for him. Locals don't care - they are blue, end of story. The Liberal guy was brand new, a veteran and really gave it his all. But it wasn't enough.
I hope last minute counts in races that were super close will give us those last 3 seats to tip us to a majority, but I don't think it will happen.

PP vowing to stay on as party leader is ridiculous. He has no seat - if the party had won, I believe they can move him to a won seat, but he's going to have to step down. At least I hope he does!!

I’m in Alberta, and not in the two big cities, so there was never any doubt that the Conservatives would win here. My riding has a new guy, so I only hope that he’s at least mildly competent and only slightly corrupt … he was Adrianna Lagrange’s assistant, though, so I don’t like the chances 🥴 I just keep wondering, given the huge majority of conservatives here, how the people running for (and therefore elected to!) office can possibly the best there is to offer … There has to be an intelligent, moral, honest, community minded person out there that the party could nominate, right?!!!

Yeah, this deep in blue Alberta, the outcome was predetermined. Now the whining will start, instead of trying to cooperate.
I’m so glad the election is over, the hate and attack ads are exhausting.
But PP losing his seat? That was worth the price of admission. He should step down, but he has nowhere to go.

Before Trump came in Poilievre was set for a probably a majority government. Now he lost and lost his seat in his own riding.
There was zero chance my local conservative wouldn't get in. Albertans blame everything bad on the federal liberals. The one currently in power, previous ones in power. Housing prices, bad health care, unemployment, low wages, price of oil grain or beef, all federal liberals.
Everything is just blindly blamed on them. No idea on where either candidate stands on issues, what the voted for or against in past issues. No thought that conservatives have always been in power provincially and many of our issues are at a provincial level not a federal one. Nope still the federal governments fault. And now the one time a non conservative got in (which still wasn't pro NDP vote, it was a split conservative vote) now we can blame the NDP for our problems too.
I have no problem with who you vote for if that’s what you truly want. But if you're just taking your info from Facebook memes that say "-insert current liberal leader's name- did xyz" and it's it even true then I have a problem.

I've been in this small city outside of Calgary for 35 years and it has ALWAYS gone conservative by large numbers. ugh.
I think if someone gives PP his/her seat, he can stay on. Unfortunately. It happened in Alberta years ago when Don Getty ran for premier. His party got in (of course), but he didn't win his seat. The person in... Stettler, I think, gave Getty his/her seat. But then again, Getty won, and PP didn't in this case.
I was disgusted that they had Kenney as an analyst on CBC last night. The guy is a complete slimebag.

I'm holding my breath and crossing my fingers for a miracle that has every ballot today being Liberal so we might just get a majority government ... although, I do quite like the coalition governments because I feel like the third party(ies) can push for things that are important and make sure the government does things it has promised to do.

I was intrigued that PP lost his seat (or set to). I think that with both his and Singh's loss, it will be awhile before there is any challenge to Carney's gov't. Singh has already indicated he will resign, although I don't think this was his fault at all, but rather that the NDP were just caught up in the left's feeling that we needed a strong decisive gov't rather than a minority--or a PC majority b/c of "splitting the vote". I do quite like the coalition governments because I feel like the third party(ies) can push for things that are important and make sure the government does things it has promised to do. I like this too. The L's need the NDP votes, so they can serve as their conscience if Carney moves too far right. For non Canadian Peas, the Liberal Party of Canada is basically a centrist party, leaning slightly left. They have shown themselves able to work together with the more left NDP over the years, and I feel confident they will be able to do that in the future.

Here are the results for my 12 year old dgs when he completed the youth voters compass questionnaire. Shows he is way left of our most left leaning parties. LOL Posting it here so you can see where the Canadian parties lie.

The person I just heard in the radio commented that pausing counting does not usually happen. The job of counting ballots is the worst job in the election. They lock you into a large conference type room. In my experience, you had to bring in your own refreshments and there wasn't any way to make coffee or tea later in the session. It wouldn't have been too hard to put in a keurig & pods. As the night was turning into early morning and still counting, a coffee would have been appreciated. So glad that I had my Coca~Cola. I have done it once and that was enough. Every single vote must be counted by hand and verified by hand. No machines or computers to help in the final counting. I have volunteered (the pay is paltry for the actual job that you do) for municipal, provincial and federal elections in the past. It gives you a unique viewing into the actual process.
