littlemama ~~ Bermuda is a wonderful place to go for a vacation. There are the Crystal Caves to explore and so much more to do on this Island Country. It is beautiful and very clean.

We're doing a luxury cruise for our 30th. I would highly recommend it. You don't have to get off in every port or do excursions unless you want to do so. I'm posting having not read the entire thread. Pardon me if this was already discussed.

For our 30th, we took a Caribbean cruise with stops in Key West, Grand Cayman, and a few stops in Mexico. Besides having to spend a few days in Florida in July (to people from WA, it was like walking through soup), it was a fantastic trip! The English teacher in me nerded out over visiting Hemingway's house and seeing the room where he wrote.

How about somewhere like Key West? Tybee Island? Or even St Thomas? St John? If I were planning a trip to an island right now, I would want to go St. John or Exuma, Bahamas. how does Tybee Island compare to Sullivans Island? (Or other recommendations?) I’ve just started thinking about this area (never been) for a birthday trip in September. I've never been to Tybee Island -- it's just always been on my list.

I've never been to Tybee Island -- it's just always been on my list. It's ok but to me, nothing to write home about. Always full of people. Water is ok. Florida has multiple better beaches IMO. But, the draw for me about Tybee is its proximity to Savannah and all there is to see and do there.

I'm not sure where you're located, but I got an email earlier about $317 RT fairs to Reykjavik from IAD (dates vary, but it looked like availability between September and February - you'd need to play with dates in Google Flights).

I did the Danube Waltz river cruise last fall. It was amazing. August, come to Alberta, go to Banff and Jasper National Parks. The hottest we ever get is 30C/86F and that's nothing for you, it would more likely be around the 20s/70s and it's not humid. Come towards the end of August and the nights will be cool, maybe even cold for you. That’s the cruise we’re doing. On Viking? The Canadian Rockies has always been our favorite vacation destination. We have been several times and although we haven’t been in many years, we talk about going back so it’s definitely on list. It’s so incredibly beautiful. Oh that's so nice to hear. We are only 5 hours to Jasper and go a couple times a year. I've only driven the Icefields Parkway and been to Banff a couple times. Yes we went of Viking from Budapest to Passau. The Viking service was amazing. Highly recommend if you have any allergies. I am gluten free and every morning I met with maitre d' and would order my lunch and supper meals, he'd go over what I could or couldn't have or how it could be modified.

FWIW I travelled there a few years ago and didn’t think it was notably expensive (less expensive than NY, eg, for food, and hotel prices in line with other Northern European countries). Either way I don't like to spend a lot of money on food, or hotels either for that matter. I'm prepared to but I'm just as happy with cheaper stuff because all I really want to do is a little shopping and a lot of outdoor activities. This is how we travel, too. We generally eat one restaurant meal a day and then eat picnic style the other two meals. If we are just going for the weekend, I'll toss some granola bars into my bag. If we are there longer, I bring a knife and mini cutting board. We hit up a local grocery shop and buy simple foods that don't need refrigeration. Usually cured sausages, cheese, and bread. PB and jelly works too. This also saves time, as 3 sit down meals a day is 3-4 hours that we're not seeing the sites. Be aware of food restrictions if you are traveling internationally and plan to bring food in your luggage. Sometimes you can't bring it in, sometimes you just have to declare it.

We are going to Hawaii next month, we will just eat fresh fruit, yogurt and nuts for breakfast. Then have one nice dinner out.

First of all, happy 30th! We will be celebrating 30 years next year. I'm not a beach person at all, so I won't be much help. I'm also not a big cruise person either. But I will say our Alaska cruise was fantastic. We were on the NCL Encore in The Haven, which is their 1st class part of the ship. It was wonderful. We had a butler attend to us, and they bend over backwards to keep Haven guests happy. It was worth every penny!

It irks me to no end when there is a norovirus outbreak on a ship and THEN they start cleaning more thoroughly. Too late, the sh*t has already hit the fan! 🤢

The Del Resort on Coronado island near San Diego is lovely. It’s far enough away from the city that it feels like a remote island with beaches, lots of food options, and the town is easy to walk through. It’s also close enough to San Diego that you can Lyft/Uber or drive to the San Diego Zoo or to the USS Midway for some additional things to do.

We went to Belize for our 20th. You can fly into Belize City and then take a ferry to Ambergris Caye or San Pedro to avoid the puddle jumper flight. Beaches, delicious food and you can get everywhere on foot or by golf cart. We didn't do all inclusive, but there are some.

Not what you’re asking about, but we’re going to do Iceland next year! Definitely not beachy, but it’s on our bucket list! I was in Iceland last year (plus Copenhagen) with my sister. It was amazing! Now my husband wants to go so I'll get to go back! I can't say it was particularly warm in July but the landscape was so beautiful. We rented a campervan and only ate in a restaurant one time. We bought our food at the grocery stores. That was an experience in itself trying to read Icelandic ingredients as my sister is gluten free with lots of dietary restrictions.

Our 30th is next year, too. We plan to visit all 30 MLB ballparks over the course of the year. That may not be what you had in mind. A friend just got back from Turks and Caicos and really loved it there, though. Maybe look into that. Happy anniversary to us! This is an awesome idea.
