Good Morning.
I have a video appt this am and then I'm going to Target. I need to find an unscented furniture polish. I wish more unscented products would enter the market. Apart from that I'm back at my latest puzzle and knitting a sock that I will likely never wear, because it's my sock test dummie and there are mistakes.
What are you doing today?
I'm not sure what to make for dinner. It might be tacos or enchiladas.
What's on your menu?
How did your dad's scan go, Tearisci? Did they get to the root of the problem?
How is everyone doing today?
May this weekend be fun, restorative and fulfilling for everyone.

Heading to AquaFit in a few minutes. I finished all my Mother's Day cards so today will be spent cleaning up my craft room ~ again! Dinner will be pot roast. Here are some pictures of my favorite succulents.

knitting a sock that I will likely never wear, because it's my sock test dummie and there are mistakes. You will never be perfect! Call this a practice sock, but the next ones, do two and wear them, mistakes and all. What are you doing today? I am exhausted. I woke up at 4 this morning. I've been working since 5:30. I have one meeting at 11:30 (15 minutes from now) and then I think I'm going to bow out of work for the rest of the day and try to take a nap. I'm *that* tired. I'm making marinated chicken and tofu for dinner. Jeremy will grill. Spinach salad on the side.

cadoodlebug , your front stoop looks cute. You did a great job w/your new-to-you stuff. Did you stage houses for your dh when he was selling?
jeremysgirl, do you think you caught something? Listen to your body and sleep as much you need to do so. I'm thinking comforting thoughts for you.

Good morning!! It is rainy, drizzly and blah around here. Good to be inside. Bad to have to clean 20 toe beans after they "need" to go out and chase squirrels and momma raccoon. WooHoo!!! I say that with my chest! Choir is being canceled tonight due to several scheduling conflicts. Also, no choir in the loft on Sunday. This makes Mother's Day travel easier. The kids will be meeting me and then I will hit up Costco, Aldi and Trader Joe's. OR I'll do that before I meet them. This is just my catch up, filing and do all the things week in the office. Some things I need to check on personally as far as some utilities are concerned. I noticed my house/car insurance payment went down $40. It didn't hit me until earlier this week, could that be to removing DH from the car ins. part? I still have the car so it is still there, not just the driver. So last night I made soyrizo tacos and forgot to tell about it in the thread early in the day. I am making sure I take care of dinner now. I am making some Greek "meat"balls. Trying to decide on which creamy sauce I want to pour over the top of them. I'll most likely serve them over noodles with a slice of sourdough bread. I am also thinking of freezing a few to make gyros later. I get you on the unscented stuff scrapmaven. I don't have issue with scents but I don't want them competing with my candles. However, I need to find something that keeps the dog/musty smells out. jeremysgirl I found a really good protein bagel recipe. I made it last night and used Everything but the Bagel seasoning. I had it this morning and it was so good. The recipe only makes one which is good for me. I am fickle on breakfast. Bagel recipe.

I'm home today because I'm finally going to renew my passport a bit later ... yes, I procrastinate! I first need to get a photo and then go to the passport office ... fun times! Dinner tonight might be Butter Chicken with rice and garlic naan ... if I am feeling ambitious!

naby64 , your insurance would go down, because you're now the solo policy owner. Though $40 per month doesn't seem like much. Also, did you remove your dh's name from your credit cards and put a freeze on his credit? That's just a safety thing in order to protect you. Do you work full time at the church or can you telecommute, as well?
I hope that the passport office is a quick errand and that you can add something fun to the outing, leannec.

Happy Hump Day!
I've had a busy morning! We noticed that we stopped getting BS readings for mom and she wasn't answering the phone so we were worried that she had lost it. I needed to change her sensor anyway so I went down there. She was asleep and her phone was in the bathroom. She's normally pretty good about it so I'm glad it was close. Her BS is off of the meter again so I'm waiting for her nurse to call me to tell me what they're doing about it. She was in a meeting when I was there and I had to leave.
We haven't heard from the doctor about my dad's scans so hopefully they will get back to us this morning.
Dinner will likely be something easy. I've got a few things from TJs that I can just microwave so I'll probably do that.
Hope you all have a great day!

Do you work full time at the church or can you telecommute Fulltime. My commute takes me 5 minutes. Heck, I was still in the office during Covid. There are 3 of us that work full time in the office. Plus the custodian, do it all know it all man. I have not frozen his CCs. They are in his name only and I haven't dug deep into the Excel file to find sign-in info. They were auto paid out of his checking acct. and I do need to stop that. I didn't have his name on my cards. So one less thing to have to do.

Tearisci, does your mom pay for levels of care at her assisted living community? If so, can you add blood sugar monitoring? The nurses should be doing her monitoring for you. In assisted living the point is to hand over those types of tasks to the techs and nurses. Your mother should be receiving her care from them. Do you like what you've seen, so far?

Sun is finally out here today. Headed for a massage in a couple hours. Not sure what’s for dinner other than the macaroni salad I just made. Had the best fresh asparagus last night. Oh my God it was so good.

In assisted living the point is to hand over those types of tasks to the techs and nurses. Your mother should be receiving her care from them. Do you like what you've seen, so far? She's in a regular nursing home that has a rehab wing, but not a traditional assisted living. She is so brittle with her diabetes going up and down that they really need to stay on top of it and we haven't been super happy with that part. She was off the meter for a couple of days before this last hospital stay and I'm sure that was part of what was going on. I would love to have them manage it better so we didn't have to worry as much. Some things I like there and some need work. We have an email out to the social worker to set up a meeting to talk about it This may be one of the deciding factors for hospice care which comes with additional nursing staff.

Did you stage houses for your dh when he was selling? Nah, he usually hired a home stager. The gal we worked with was awesome. When we were getting ready to sell our home, she came and told us which pieces to leave for her to work with. We left quite a bit and had the movers put the rest in storage until we made the big move up here. She was pretty amazing.

Good evening all, I’ve had a quiet day. Early morning trip to the supermarket and recycling bins, then home to knit. I’ve been keeping an eye on all the goings on in Rome since Easter and today was the day the cardinals entered Conclave for the election of a new pope. I find the history and pageantry fascinating. The doors weee locked about 90 minutes ago and the first smoke should appear on about an hour. I expect black - it is really rare for a first vote to give a majority.
Dinner tonight is a fish curry made from scratch, even the curry paste. It is really yummy, not too spicy. Maybe a bit sweet so I’ll adjust the sugar/salt next time I make it. DH is on his way back from Barcelona ATM. I’ll be out tomorrow night, so he can eat the rest of the curry - I made plenty.

I'm sitting over here with whatever Trader Joes had that looked interesting Australia is an amazing country when it comes to embracing the cultures that have come and called it home. We ar e also great travelers. Asia is close to us and many people from there now call Australia home, as well as many Australians taking vacations in Asia. I’ve been to China and Japan and love the good from both - the real stuff, not the westernised versions. I workedin an area with many families from India and Sri Lanka - the food at our school fair was incredible. Added to that, I have Italian, Maltese and Irish heritage and we’ve travelled widely in Europe in our 15 years in Germany. We love eating local when we travel - can’t wait for Portugal at the end of this month and Sardinia in July. And now we’re at a church here with many African parishioners. It all adds up to eating a quite varied diet, so long as we can source ingredients.

I've had a busy morning. took the car in for an oil change and since it was near a health center for my plan, I ubered down, got my blood draw and came back.
I just got home at noon and I am all ready for my new furniture to be delivered!! I got a tall cabinet with shelves that can hold my good china, and some albums, and whatever. I am going to put the old craigslist special one on the free groups for a few days and see if I get any takers.. otherwise.. off to the dump.
I have to mail a few things and will go to trader joes.. I think I may make black bean tacos. dd is in her last full week of class (she did a presentation on 1990's animae--japanese conversation class).. and dh is signing final sale papers for his mom's house tomorrow. he will go to washington state for a week to deal with last of estate stuff and give his sister a big fat check.
I used to say that at my kids's elementary school, the best event was multicultural night.. it was potluck dinner and we had at least 50 countries represented. and in my city, you can get almost any kind of food.. even halal chinese!! I don't cook all those foods.. I would just rather go out.
another grey day.. the fog is right on the coast..

I took my mom to a local trade fair/show today that was specifically for seniors. There were over a hundred booths and every booth had a door prize to win. I spent lots of time filling out ballots, fingers crossed that I win. My mom seemed a bit overwhelmed with all the people but she followed along with me and collected some freebies. Our favourite giveaway was a miniature succulent in a tiny pot. Hopefully I can keep it alive.
After the trade fair, I took mom out for fish and chips and then to the grocery store. It was an eventful day for her so she will probably sleep well tonight.
The event last night with my bestie was fun but very religion focused which I certainly don’t oppose but isn’t really my thing. My bestie is very religious but never forces it on me. We both respect each others values. We enjoyed supper out before going to the event.
Supper will be something small, probably a bagel, since I had a big lunch.

another grey day.. the fog is right on the coast.. You will appreciate it when we're hitting 90 on Friday! a miniature succulent in a tiny pot. Hopefully I can keep it alive. At some point you'll probably want to go up in size pot wise. That giant jade plant on my porch pictures started a few years ago as several 5 or 6 inch cuttings from a friend. Succulents are VERY forgiving. I water mine about once a week when it's warmer ~ maybe every 3/4 weeks in the winter.

2 questions for y'all. One may be controversial. First: I don't eat a lot of potatoes but they are nice to have around. I like a good baked potato. Then there are days I want some country potatoes. I don't have a cellar and live in the south. So we are about to get really hot. How do I keep a bag of potatoes as fresh as possible for the longest amount of time?
Second: and this one may tick off a few of you. I have knives. I love good cutlery. I even have those little scissors to cut snippets of chives. But for all the love of holy kitchenwares, why do people use plain ole' scissors to cut chicken, bacon, lettuce, etc? I hope I am not offending anyone here. I watch a lot of TT videos and I see more and more people doing this. WHY?!?!
Ok, that is all. Except to say I have amended dinner plans. I ran home at lunch and opened a bag of garlic potatoes from Aldi. I cooked the entire bag. Oh my goodness, they were good. I decided at that moment, I would use those as a side for my Greek "meat"balls. And decided why not just go ahead and make the tzatziki sauce since you plan on making gyros, so that is the plan now.

(Except for cutting things out of the newspaper!) I also have those. They are for cutting through chicken bones, opening packages of bacon and the like. Nope, these people are using the red and white scissors in the kitchen section at Dollar Tree. They are NOT heavy duty and just regular scissors.

Had to bring DH back to the ER today. Some lung issues and what I suspect may turn out to be an MG flare. They will most likely keep him a day or two. Glad I got him back over here sooner this time. Dinner is totally up in the air. Will touch base when we know something definitive. He’s off getting a CT scan of his lungs right now.
