Hi everyone! My dd's are coming over soon to celebrate Mother's Day today ... we decided today was a better day! We are going for lunch ... I think I am going to have veggie pizza ... yum! . Dinner will be rechauffe pizza! Molly is going to help me change my duvet cover and take out my garbage ... she's a doll! I would never ask Emma to do those things ... it's not in her nature Work was good yesterday ... the whole school was outside for the last period for a pie throwing contest ... admin and PE teachers were the targets ... it was funny! Quite windy so the pies sometimes hit unintended targets! I'm back at that school, same classes, all next week ... This is what I posted on Facebook the other day ... I only ask that my dates have a job, a vehicle and a place to live ... some don't have those things! . Pizza would be a bonus! How are your parents today Tearisci? How is your dh today **GypsyGirl**? If you celebrate Mother's Day, what are your plans this weekend? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Happy Saturday!
My cleaners are here so I'm holed up in my bedroom while they clean. My day is pretty light - I'll take my dad to visit mom this afternoon. I was a little worried this morning when I wasn't getting blood sugar readings and she wasn't answering her phone. I think she forgot to take it to breakfast and then came back and laid down.
I woke my dad up and he hasn't called back so I don't know how he's doing yet. I was supposed to get a massage today but I canceled it to be available. I'll get one this week.
The rest of the day, I play on playing my video games. My sister is out of town but will be back by tomorrow night so I'm sure we'll get together then. It's getting close to pool time and this week is supposed to climb into the upper 90s so I'm sure we'll be in the pool by next weekend.
Hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning. leannec, I've always had a rule for my single friends. No dating him unless he is employed, single and kind. Assume that he's never gonna change or get a job. That way, you won't be disappointed or stuck. Your Mother's Day sounds very nice. WTG, Molly. Enjoy today w/your daughters. Your current school sounds like a fun one. So, I have started unplanned Yoga. This was gonna be dh's thing, but I went w/him to a private lesson and the instructor is all about healing and breath. So, I am now doing chair yoga and lots of breathing exercises. Oddly enough, after the class I had a rush of energy. I spent the afternoon baking macarons and gang, they turned out really well. I am so excited. I thought I'd be exhausted today, but I still have energy. Very suspicious. I want to make another batch of macarons for practice, but maybe for Mother's Day I'll make a chocolate cream roll if it isn't too hot today. My immediate project is polishing the wood surfaces of my house. I have voice practice and knitting to do. Somehow I signed up for a recital in late June. I think dinner is enchiladas, but I'll see what dh wants to do. For Mother's day we don't have anything planned. We'll have a low key celebrations. Ods is coming home and we'll have a Zoom type call w/yds. Ever since my fil died on Mother's day that sort of put a damper on the day. Plus, we both no longer have mothers. So, we make the best of it. Enjoy a fun, restorative and good weekend.

leannec I love that meme so much I’ve already forwarded it to a younger friend. She loves it, too. Thank you for the laugh. **GypsyGirl**, I have missed enough days that I don’t know how your DH ended up back in the hospital, but I am so sorry. Hope he feels better fast. Has been a super busy week. Hair appt, doctor, lunch with siblings and our childhood friends, 2x out with mom, and my contractor has been here all week, too, working on the upstairs … plus the annual memorial for fallen officers was in there, too. I’m trying to have a nice quiet weekend, but of course there’s more going on. Because there just is. Not decided about dinner yet. Possibly corned beef if I can get it going early enough. But I also wanted to make cookies for tomorrow, and I’m not sure I’m capable of baking AND cooking dinner, both on the same day.

we got italian takeout last night.. pizza for dh, parmesan chicken and pasta for the kid and plain roasted chicken for me, with salad for all. leftovers tonight. will be watching the warriors basketball game on tv and snl.
dh came home.. feeling better but having to do nothing for next 7 days.. so I will be doing a lot of dog walking. everything went well.. and they found a second troublesome site in his heart.. all taken care of.
the kid has a dentist appt.. so I will drop them off downtown.. they can take bus home.
another grey foggy day.. we don't really celebrate mother's day.. I don't expect phone calls. may happen though. when I grew up.. we never celebrated mother's day.. it was always the last day of ski season.
I am over celebrating any particular day. I like being in contact with my kids year round.

DH, DS and I just got back from a walk at Town Center. DH won his match play golf match yesterday so he'll move forward with another match in a few weeks. We watched Survivor and The Amazing Race last night. Today we have some model homes to look at and this afternoon will probably play some 5Crown. This evening they will watch the Warriors and the Giant's. Dinner will be Tri-Tip roast which is marinating.

Wow, scrapmaven that chair yoga must be really good and energy-producing. I think I'd stay with that. I get so bored doing yoga that it isn't relaxing at all for me. We did chair yoga at one of my company offsite and it was so awkward. I'm glad it's working for you!

It is a rainy miserable day here...after a few days of sun....a few days of rain seems to be the trend. I took the dog out for a brief walk in the rain now my feet are wet and cold. She doesn't mind being rained on...just meandered along...nothing to hurry about!! I am working tonight and tomorrow night so my colleagues with children can be off. I have no children or mother so it works out! DH took me out for dinner last night, and he will get breakfast sandwiches in the AM so I can have something before I take a nap.
I took a chicken from the freezer for him to grill tomorrow for dinner...My request!!
leannec...Enjoy your afternoon with your DD's!! Tearisci...Hope your parents are status quo! scrapmaven...Glad you are feeling good from the yoga! lucyg..I literally LOL re your cooking /baking statement🤣🤣🤣 ntsf...Glad to hear your DH did well! cadoodlebug...enjoy your WE with your son!!!

Hi all! Been busy with yard work, burning winter fall branches and clearing during the day and lots of playoff hockey at night. Today it’s raining and 4C (brrr!) so I curled up with a book. We are out for cocktails and dinner with friends tonight. I’ve been in sweats and old sweaters all week so nice to get dressed tonight lol. I’m trying heatless curls and DSO finds my hair wrapping look quite amusing. I gave my hair a light spritz before wrapping but will likely have to sit under my floor dryer as my hair is very thick and slow to dry. Hope it looks like all the Instagram influencers hair when finished lol My oldest DD will be coming for the day tomorrow but not sure what the plans are yet. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good evening all,
We’ve just finished dinner here - pepper steak with a tossed salad. Very tasty.
Today was a quieter day for us. We did our regular Saturday shop, but not at our regular supermarket. As we needed more Nespresso caps, we drove to a nearby mall and did all our shopping there. While their supermarket - same chain as our regular - is bigger and has more variety, it’s arranged very differently, making it harder to find whaa as t we need. When we went to make dinner, we also found that the meat counter had charged us for someone else’s bratwurst, so we’re not happy. After we unpacked the groceries, we went to the garden center and bought herb and veggie plants for this summer. We have 3 different types of tomatoes, several peppers and chillies, mini eggplants and a variety of herbs. We planted them out into planter boxes after lunch.
Apart from that, I’ve been knitting and we’ve had football on the TV. This weekend is the second last of our season, so it’s getting exciting. Our team is already assured of the championship - no playoffs here, just who has most points after 34 games - but there’s still a lot of interest in who will finish in the last two places and be relegated to second division and who will qualify for European competition next season. Our game is on now - just after half time and we’re winning. It’s our last home game and a player who signed with the club aged 10 is leaving after 25 years, so major emotion expected at full time!
Have a lovely weekend everyone

We are taking my mom out to dinner in a couple hours instead of tomorrow. Today worked out a little bit better because my brother and his wife are headed to her parents but not till like 2 o’clock tomorrow so it kind of wasn’t gonna work so we’re going to dinner.
My grandma died 29 years ago tomorrow. I remember the day she passed thinking that the very next day my mom was gonna have her first Mother’s Day without her mom. So that was hard. But my mom spent the last two years of my grandma‘s life taking care of her along with help from two of her brothers. The other sister and two other brothers were assholes and didn’t help at all, even though they all lived here. But that was their loss because spending those last couple of years with my grandma helping my mom was something I will never forget. I saw her the day before she died, told her I loved her and would always love her, and thanked her for loving me. And she asked me if I’d go get her a glass of beer so I did lol I still miss her today.

Thank you for sharing about your grandma, christine58. I never had a grandma as my dad's mom passed away when he was about 12 and my mom's mom passed away several months after I was born so she never got to meet me. I envy the close relationships that those who had loving grandmas talk about.

I envy the close relationships that those who had loving grandmas talk about. My dad‘s mom died when I was 18 or maybe 19. Since my dad was the youngest child in the family, she was in her late 60s when my brothers and I were born so we didn’t really know her that well. I mean, we spent time with her, but I would’ve loved to have picked her brain about some of her Italian recipes. My mom‘s mom is the one that passed away on Mother’s Day in 1986. She and my grandpa are buried right across the street from where I live on the farm. She was a tough Irish lady as was my Italian grandma very tough too so I think that’s where a lot of of the females on both sides get their strength. I’m sorry you didn’t know your grandma’s . Grandma’s are the best

So, I have started unplanned Yoga. This was gonna be dh's thing, but I went w/him to a private lesson and the instructor is all about healing and breath. So, I am now doing chair yoga and lots of breathing exercises. This makes me so happy for you. I'm such a yoga fan and only regret I didn't stick to it when I first tried in my late 20s (it wasn't enough of a workout for my days of aerobic classes/stairmaster, etc. ). plus the annual memorial for fallen officers was in there, too. I watched the coverage of our local memorial and thought about you. Three officers were added to the memorial wall - one who died in 1949 and was only recently recognized as having died in the line of duty. She doesn't mind being rained on...just meandered along...nothing to hurry about!! LOL, our pup is not a fan of rain at all so we can barely get her out to take care of business on a rainy day. I’m trying heatless curls and DSO finds my hair wrapping look quite amusing. So envious of your lovely, thick hair. Hope the curls set! teddyw, I saw your question about rain gear. Vessi are the shoes I plan to get before another trip north. DD has them and can't recommend they more. She could walk to work in Vancouver and wear them all day - no wet feet at all and breathable so no sweaty feet problems like with other boots/shoes and no need to carry a second pair to wear at work. All my rain jackets are REI. Because I layer fleece/sweaters under them I have a one in large (older Gore-Tex REI branded) and this newer Outdoor Research one in medium. Marmot is another really good waterproof, breathable shell from them that I wore when living in Seattle. I'm not spending a lot of time online these days. My energy is spent trying to catch up on a lot of craft projects now that the office is better arranged, working my way through a large stack of books and as much yoga and walking as my body allows. Today I am online too much and am obsessively checking my medical chart for scan results. The chest scan report came through yesterday showing the large tumor shrunk, but there was also a messy inflamed area that they aren't sure how to read. The best case is I have a viral lung infection/pneumonia. We are wait and see on it because I don't have a fever/cough and went ahead with chemo yesterday. The abdominal scan results are not showing for me yet, even though I was notified a new result was added, and I suspect my onc flagged them so he gets them first (he knows I've always read the reports before he calls me ). I'm a little sad today as I'm missing a niece's wedding at my sister's island property. Ugh. My favorite Mother's Day activity is a lagoon/beach walk/hike followed by dim sum. Given the possible lung infection, no dim sum this year. DH has dinner planned (smoked tri tip with grilled corn, zucchini, peppers and asparagus) and I've asked the Mother's Day fairy for a new swivel chair for the office. I was going to go and ahead and buy it before remembering it was Mother's Day this weekend and so sent my peeps the link. Not sure what is on the menu for tonight. I could go for a Greek salad but need someone to do a grocery run.

Every summer there is usually a huge book sale with thousands of books taken out of circulation from all the local libraries. It’s a great event and something I look forward to every year. This year, it was decided that all the local branches would have their own sales starting today and rotating so each branch has a sale on a different Saturday. Today was the first one, which was about 30 minutes from me. I went but was so disappointed. There was 5 bins of books, which I understand because it was a small branch. I did buy a few but not sure it was worth the drive. I will probably go to the one which will be in my own town but won’t bother driving to the rest. I love a good book sale, digging through the titles and finding something I’ve wanted to read but haven’t, makes me happy.
Had a visit from ODS and two of the grandboys this afternoon. My son works tomorrow so he won’t be around for Mothers Day. He brought me a candle, a gift card for Old Navy and some scratch tickets.
I will take my mom out on an outing tomorrow. If the weather is nice, we will go to get fries by the water and sit by the water for awhile.
Supper is take out pizza.

My mom has a stuffed pug that my sister got her and she carries it around. One of her friends fell in love with it and wanted it. My other sister found a stuffed pug in her garage so we gave it to the friend. She was so happy and kept cuddling with it

I had a big late lunch & DH isn't feeling well - he has a bad cold and not much appetite...so dinner is a little up in the air. Also, I will be watching playoff hockey around dinnertime so something quick and simple will be needed. Neisey , which team do you follow? I'm a Capitals fan (they're playing the Hurricanes) but I'm following the Jets and Oilers out west (really really really dislike VGK!!!) - there have been some really good games! Let's Go Caps! It was cold this morning so we turned on the fireplace for a while to make it nice and cozy. Love the memes today! I got a package yesterday with Mother's Day gifts from both DDs (they live close to each other in the PNW) - one was a set of 3 cute watercolor prints of colorful roosters from a local (to her) artist. The prints will be perfect for a narrow strip of wall beside the bookcase that holds my cookbooks. On top of that bookcase is where the (vintage ceramic) rooster collection that was started by my mom sits, so it will be perfect.

the grandma who made the wedding quilt I repaired today.. she was a short tough lady.. dropped out of high school to work as a cook in her uncle's logging camp ( -ww 1).. and when she was. 90, the local little paper had an article "family will throw a surprise party for Rena Lane on Sunday". she passed right before her 100th birthday. about 2 months before she died, my in laws were visiting her.. and she whispered to her son "are you still seeing that woman?" --referring to my mother in law.. her son had been married maybe 50 yrs at that point. it was pretty funny.
one grandma of mine died 3 yrs before I was born.. the other one I saw maybe 12 times in my life.. she lived 2000 miles away and died when I was 10. I miss my mom too.. 25 yrs ago she died.

Oh thank you. I was raised by two amazing parents. Sure there were struggles from time to time as there always is with marriages and kids and work and stress. But we always knew we were very loved. We had a great dinner this evening! The food was delicious.

ahhh bc2ca, I love hearing about your city’s memorial. Thank you. We added a fallen officer from 1930 to our wall a couple of years ago, and his grandson (or great-grandson?) and wife have started attending our memorial, too. The grandson (old, around my age) is also a retired cop from another local jurisdiction.

bc2ca thanks for the info. Really hoping your scan is good. Rest up. As you know pneumonia is no joke. I love the grandma stories. My grandparents lived 2 blocks away. We came & went as we pleased. My grandma lived to 93 only because she smoked. Her sisters lived into their 100s except one who died at 18 from TB. Dd & Juliet came over and I made flatbread late afternoon so I had an orange and cookie for dinner.

Hoping for a Leafs win but if they don’t make it all the way we will cheer for the Jets and Oilers to get the win for Canada. I don’t watch regularly through the season, but I love fast playoff hockey.
