I am sincerely curious how the right can spin this into anything but racism.
Your super rich BFF Elon is hired to help you smash up the government. You give his white countrymen convenient REFUGEE status while deporting brown people.
You get all your voters and followers to believe you're simply ridding America of all the brown rapists Biden let stroll on into America, totally disregarding the fact that there are home-grown rapists here and also ignoring the fact that most of these Brown people not only work, but they work HARD doing jobs most Americans don't even want to do like process meat, pick crops, and tend to your yard. Etc etc etc.
Your sycophants on Fox News also stretch themselves to the limit daily to paint Democrats and liberals as a people who want rapists to stay here, because liberals all like rapists running loose. We're definitely not the party of folks who want women to have bodily autonomy and choice, now are we?
What will these South African white people be doing to earn their keep? Have they all been fully vetted to make sure they're not rapists? I'm not sure, because South Africa has one of the highest rates of sexual assault in the world.
Just things I'm pondering... Wondering what is the breaking point for Republicans.

Clarifying that they are not refugees. I know that's the premise under which they have been granted entry to the United States but they are not refugees under the universally recognized definition of the 1951 Refugee Convention or its protocol. UNHCRThere are over 180,000 actual refugees in the pipeline. The process, including vetting, normally takes years. There are many arguments to be made in favor of (or against) immigration, including economic migration which is what is happening here. But they are not refugees. |

We have hundreds+/- of farmers who have no work, who may get subsidies because they have lost their markets because of FF's tariffs. They may never recover their Chinese customers who are buying from Brazil!

I posted this on the ICE thread but the NYT and Wa Po articles both had important information. The white South Africans are not fleeing their country, they are not refugees and according to the UN, they do not meet the criteria for refugees. Unbelievable. Trump is deporting everyone from South and Central America as fast as he can and suspending asylum for anyone with brown or black skin but choosing to allow, expedite and pay for white South Africans to come here. Can we please send Musk back in exchange? How exactly are white South Africans being discriminated against? For years they have enjoyed privilege, have owned almost all of the land etc. Equality is not discrimination or oppression of white people.
