AKathy's "What's For Dinner?" 05/17

Gray day here and cool. I finished a book this morning and now I’m having a cappuccino and starting to print some photos to hopefully do some scrapping.

No idea what is on the menu tonight. DSO has a steak that needs to be cooked today so I may just scrounge through the fridge to see what appeals.

Hope everyone has something they enjoy on their agenda for today.

I had muscle spasms in my lower back again last night and early this morning. I'm icing regularly. We took a short walk and I had to wear a jacket and nearly froze. It will be in the low 90s by Wednesday!

Dinner is undecided right now.


The instructions were to write Happy birthday with a big Tammy at the bottom. That's her new nickname for sure!

I'm just back from bringing my mom lunch and visiting with her. She wasn't feeling great so she decided to lie down so it was a short visit.

I'm home this afternoon getting ready to watch the Eurovision Song Contest finale this afternoon. DS and I are big fans and are rooting for Iceland.

My dad is moving into my sister's today. We took him out to dinner and to the winery last night and he had a good time but we kept him up too late. He kept saying he needed to take his 9pm meds. I told him he could take the at 10 for one night

Not sure what dinner will be tonight. We're supposed to get some really bad storms with hail tonight so I may stay in or head over to my sister's to watch the Dallas Stars play. We're one game away from the Stanley Cup playoffs so it's a big deal.

It’s been another boring Saturday here. Grocery shopping - not a lot to buy as DH has been traveling a lot so we aren’t using up much of the pantry and freezer goods and I bought a lot of antipasto at the market yesterday. I repotted the herb plants I picked up at the market, but we didn’t need to f do o anything else for the garden. After lunch I went out for a walk, then settled in with my knitting and the football. It was the final round for the season and even though the title was decided there was still interest in Euro qualification and relegation. I managed to finish the first sleeve on Luci’s sweater. I’ve just started the second sleeve, then I’ll work on the rest of the body and decide how long I’m going to make it.

Our dinner was grilled steak with chimichurri sauce served with a large mixed salad.

What? No meme?! Who even are you? 

Sunday morning here, and we have sunshine and blue skies, which is an improvement on the cold and rain from yesterday. Although it was nice to get some rain after months of virtually no rain.

We had people over last night to watch the football - the kids and my nephew and their respective partners. We finally decided that we'd better turn the heating on for the first time in about 6 or 7 months, because we didn't want our guests to freeze. But oh no, the ducted heating isn't working! We ended up all going outside to sit by the fire and outdoor gas heater. Fancy having to sit outside to stay warm! 

Dinner was Fish & Chips for all. 

The Butter Chicken was in 3 bowls, realistically meant for a lunch. We also have a Coconut Chicken curry that is one big container. The brand is Sukhi.

It was decent. Not as good as the Indian restaurant, but serviceable.

I'm late posting. I was up early, drove about an hour north and did the in person part of my first aid/cpr class. I was really worried about getting on my knees for cpr, but the instructor let me put the dummy on a fireplace hearth.. and my skills are excellent. small group--all of us have taken this multiple times. so that went fast. did some shopping on my way home. found some clothes and stopped by the container store for some plastic storage boxes.

dinner was leftover thai takeout. really windy out.. the car was moving as I drove across the golden gate bridge and the bridge was humming.. that was fun. watching giants on tv.. watched it last night (baseball game) and it was an exceptional performance by one player--he got 3 homeruns and was responsible for 8 of their 9 points. so far in this game, no points.
