Hi guys. I would love to know if you bought a dryer in recent years and are happy with its performance.
I was surprised to see a few dryers near the entrance to our Costco yesterday ... none of those are on a list of best machines by Wirecutter. Haven't looked at Consumer Reports as I no longer have a subscription.

Ours is old, but Whirlpool has always given us good service. This one was purchased from an individual. I can't tell how old it is from its label. I think we have had it at least 10 years.

flanz Are you interested in gas or electric? I checked Consumer Reports. For each type, LG models were the top 10. We bought a new Maytag pair last year - no complaints.

I vote LG. I replaced my LG washer/dryer about 4 months ago when the washer went nuts on me. They were over 10 years old and the dryer was still going strong. However, my laundry room gets a lot of traffic and I want the set to match so we replaced both. This is the one that I got. What I love about it is that the door will either swing open left/right or open from the top. Opening from the top is so much easier to add that one odd sock that gets left in the washing machine!

Thanks for all of your feedback everyone! **GypsyGirl** , I think I may go for this one. The way the door opens is so cool. Did you purchase the warranty? How about you lurker , lindas , littlemama and leannec ? ETA - Costco sells the same dryer with delivery, install, haul away and 2 year warranty included. They don't mention anything about needing to buy a vent kit or power cord, which Best Buy charges extra for. Since install is included w Costco, would you assume that means they provide those needed parts?

I also have a LG set that I bought 12.5 years ago, they are both going strong (hoping I don't jinx myself). Since it's only me, they are used lighter than most. I would call Costco or ask when the installer calls to confirm regarding whether you or they provide the extras.

I looked at Consumer Reports when we bought our new washer and dryer set a couple months ago. LG was a solid choice and so were some Whirlpool models and that's what we went with. None of them last like the old days though.

We have an electric LG that can be used vented or ventless, and we have used it in both ways and have been happy with it both ways.

Went to pull the trigger and order an LG from Costco.... but the fine print says that dryers installed in garages need to be 18 inches above the floor. What??? I would think that if we are willing to put it on the floor (and risk having it be damaged in the event of a flood?) that would be on us.
Have you heard of this?
Most people probably have their laundry rooms inside the house these days, we moved ours to the garage in order to enlarge our kitchen back in 2000.
