Vote blue, no matter who, but I really wish we didn't feel like we had to keep running white men to appeal to "moderates" who are scared of women and minorities.

At this point I would vote for a ham sandwich for president and a pile of potato chips for VP as long as they are Dems. Vote Blue like your life depends on it (because it very likely does).

Sounds fine to me. I do want a woman president, but I’m beginning to doubt that I will see one. I am voting blue-period. Even “good” Republicans have to toe the line. **Apparently Rand Paul got uninvited to the WH picnic because he won’t play ball on the big beautiful bill.

Some responses to this pair as the 2028 Democratic Nominees…
”No, Harris/Buttigieg. Her energy brought people together. They are a perfect combo”
”I don't want the Dems that have been sitting on their hands picking our candidate. I will not support any candidate that allows the continued slaughter of the Palestinian People! We The People need a President that represents our Interest!”
”As a republican, nothing would make me happier than for you to nominate the failed governor of the furthest left state in America.
And then some gay guy who's never accomplished anything noteworthy in his life except for I guess have sex with men or something”
”I would love it with Pete as well, but our country isn’t ready for a gay president or a vice president. They’re not ready for a woman, they probably never will be! -such a shameful country at this stage in our lives, but just look at the news, talk about shameful, What an embarrassment. We are definitely not a country of love & welcoming, absolutely no way. I mean look who is president, that alone speaks volumes ..”

Some more…
”I absolutely love these guys-- but I think I'd like to see Pete as Secretary of State. And I'd like Gavin to take on Adam Kinsinger as V.P. crossing party lines a tad-- but maybe a way to unite the country.”
”Yes I can see Xi or Putin being intimidated as Buttplug starts to breast feed " his " child at a meeting. Newscum will threaten Xi or Putin with his scorched earth ( L.A. ) policy experience. " If I can burn my citizen's homes, think what I can do to you."
”I really didn’t think I would ever read something that fucking stupid!
”I love how someone does one thing even if their past track record is spotty and then suddenly they should be president. We need to be a little more discerning than this. Als”o as others have said, Pete has been more consistent than Newsom.”
”In any other case, I’d go with Gavin Newsom for so many reasons, but the propaganda machine they have around him is just so strong, but the fact that he was able to go on Fox News and know how to come back back against there interrupt interrupt type of speaking and counter, it back effectively really leads me to still consider heavily him But definitely having peep with him as vice president will be key maybe even switch and swap Pete for president and Newsom for vice president decisions decisions
But either way, putting together two candidates that do pretty well individually on Fox News I think is a very potent mix.”

A few more…
”Hopefully neither one. We need a candidate that represents the working class without drama.”
”😂😂😂 please run this ticket clowns, you couldn't be more delusional”
”Republicans love this. An insincere flip flopper who does nothing, and mayor Pete…a guy who spent $42 billion to connect 0 rural people to the internet, and spent about $8 billion on 8 charging stations. Incompetence at its finest (or worst?”
”I hope this is the ticket. It will be good to see Vance/Rubio in office after an easy election.”
”Could be. Maybe Pete for President. Both are contenders. I'm from the bay area in California, and when Gavin was younger, let's just say he should have gotten over his wild oats and immaturity before Willie Brown got him started in politics. So, I'm not so much of a Newsom man as a Buttigieg guy.”

Whatever. Not like I have a choice or ever get one that truly aligns with my beliefs. Because we have to aPpEaL to tHe MoDeRaTeS…and end up about as left as Clinton.
Starting to think torches and pitchforks are more useful than elections. Oh wait it’s the US, we all have more than that.

Nope. Admittedly, I think Newsom has handled the protest situation well but I don't want him as a presidential candidate. I will vote blue no matter who is on the ticket, but I would not vote for Newsom in the NH primary. My preference for the top of the ticket would be Chris Murphy, Mark Kelley, Pritzger, Shapiro, Bashears, Raphael Warnock, Buttigieg, Beto or Cory Booker. As much as I would love Gretchen Whitmer, Stacey Abrams or Amy Klobuchar, regrettably, after losing 2 elections with female candidates, we can't take that chance again.
After the disaster in 2024, I'm tired of hearing we have to appeal to moderates and independents. Harris is moderate, she's a former prosecutor and bent over backwards trying to win those votes. She had the endorsement of so many Republicans, former Trump staff etc. She campaigned with Liz Cheney and still lost. I think a better strategy is to find someone who can generate excitement, mobilize the base and turn out the vote. I know there was a lot of excitement for Harris, but the demographics of voters is tilting in our favor. We just need everyone to vote. That was true last time, too. I'm just tired of appealing to moderates and losing.

Neusolini? No thank you. He’s a horrid governor and has had quite a large chunk of money go “missing” as well as wasted a TON of money on a bullet train that is so far over budget the state will never get it built. He’s a hot mess and CA shows it.

i love Mayor Pete. he's so smart, articulate, calm, and reasonable. i've seen his name thrown around for VP in 2028 but no matter what people say, there is still that shadow crowd that isn't ready to vote for him on a ticket because of his orientation. people thought is was Kamela's time but clearly, it was not. i would love to see PB as secretary of state, head of homeland security, or some other high ranking government office. as much as i love him, i think he will stall a presidential ticket.
ETA: having said all that, i will vote blue no matter who. i just want the "who" to have a real chance.

I think we need to stop trying to be moderate, it has gotten us nowhere.
I dont know much about Newsom, but my inclination is that we can do better.
I love Buttigieg and would vote for him for anything we wants to run for. He has announced that he will not run for governor or Senate in 2026, so hoping he is going to make another run.

The idea that you can build something as complex as a high speed rail system and not run into environmental issues and obstacles like obstruction from the NIMBY crowd would be kind of naive. But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen. What kind of mess is CA in because of Newsom’s actions?

I'm not the previous poster, but it's my impression that Newsom doesn't have a lot of compassion for the homeless based on his move to ban encampments. I'm also not a resident of CA and I understand it's a way bigger problem in CA and other places in the country. I recognize that it's complex issue without quick, easy, or inexpensive solutions. The expensive housing costs in CA add another challenge. However, housing first seems like a better strategy than breaking up encampments. Or tiny houses. Or make encampments more safe and sanitary with port a potties, trailer bathrooms, trash cans, storage etc. Address the residents' basic needs and provide outreach and health care. Build more affordable housing and provide rental assistance. Expand and make temporary shelters safer, healthier, cleaner and more accessible & remove barriers by allowing pets, possessions and partners. Address some of the root causes of homelessness by expanding addiction treatment programs and access to mental health care. apnews.com/article/california-newsom-homeless-61ebe5b2a732323989c8885899f8d929

But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen. What kind of mess is CA in because of Newsom’s actions? One story on the homeless funds but there are tons. Google “missing homeless funds in California”. www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-04-09/state-audit-california-fails-to-track-homeless-spending-billions-dollarsIt’s not that I don’t think CA should have a high speed rail, it’s the fact that is GROSSLY over budget with nothing but random parts strewn around to show for it after over 10 years. People are leaving CA in droves for other states because of the way migrants, health insurance, crime, taxes are being handled. Many large companies and employers have already jumped ship with more following. We pretty much have 2 classes- the wealthy who can afford increasing costs and the working poor who are just making it and are one bill away from being homeless. Oh, and gas taxes are set to go up again either this month or next month. PGE is a shit show- they were able to push mandates for solar on all new builds and now want to reduce what they pay people for over production because their investors aren’t getting enough money. Water is RIDICULOUS where I live- $500/2 months BASE USAGE! Trying to get homeowners insurance is a joke- people are forced to go on the California Fair Plan because insurance companies aren’t insuring in CA anymore. There’s talk of per mile charging for driving because EV’s don’t pay the gas tax which is supposed to go to roads- that will positively kill rural communities which is where it’s still affordable to purchase or rent a home.

Whoever can win. Forget the damn purity tests. They don't need to be perfect. They just need to be prepared to get in there and take care of business. I no longer live in California, but lived there for my first 38 years, still have family there and keep up with their politics. To say that I have problems with Gavin Newsom is putting it mildly. I could make a long list. But if he were to get the nomination, I would have no problem voting for him. One thing he is masterful at is trolling Trump and Republicans. The Democrats purity test is part of what cost us the last election. We need a candidate that will appeal to a wide array of people. I don't think Gavin is the guy. But like I said, I will vote for whoever wins the ticket.

I'll vote for whatever Democrat is on the ticket but I think Newsom would be a terrible choice - I simply don't think he could win. Too many Americans would look at having led California as a negative, not a positive.

I love love LOVE Buttigieg. I don't think he will win though because there are too many anti gay people in our country. I follow him on social media, and he is so well spoken and intelligent, and I think he would be an amazing president. I live in the STL area, so I hear a lot from/about Pritzker, and outside Chicago, I don't think he is very popular. But away from Missouri/St. Louis, he might have a better reputation. I have been following Andy Beshear on social media, and I like him. He's the Democratic governor of a mostly red state, and he seems to be effective and popular. People are constantly commenting on his posts that he needs to run for president in 2028. Other than that, I really don't know. I like Harris, but I am not sure she will run again.

What about Harris/Newsom? Or Buttigieg/Newsom? I don't know if Newsom is ready to actually be the President, but I bet he'd kick ass as the VP and maybe grow into the role of Pres.
I'm all for Harris or Pete for Pres, though!
Like others... BLUE no matter who!!
We have a pretty strong contender for our Governor this year, and our Rep/Senators are not running or are so STUPID (Yes, I'm speaking to you, Joni Ernst!) they won't win again, so my prayer/hope is that we can flip Iowa!
