good morning friends. A 10 min cycle which injects steam to get rid of wrinkles sounds wonderful. I'm looking at a pile of clean, wrinkled clothes right now as I'm unpacking. I need to buy a dryer asap and am wondering if the delivery crew would be able to hook such a dryer up to our existing plumbing. If you've had a dryer like this installed I'd love ot know what it entailed on your part, if anything, to prep for install. A weird thing I read on Costco's website is that if dryer is being installed in a garage it needs to be 18" off the floor. I'm thinking the delivery person/ installer would be willing to ignore that. Any experience with this?

Yes I do have this. It works well. Well enough for me. I'm on my second dryer with a steam function. I might not use it often but sure appreciate it when I do.
You (a plumber) need to plumb a water line for the dryer. You can split it from the washer that is right there. I'd assume whatever the code is for a washer it would apply to the dryer as well. We don't put things in the garage here, way to cold, so I have no idea what your requirements will be.

I have an older gas LG with Turbo Steam. I believe there is a limit/recommended load size of about three garments at a time. It works fine.
ETA - I also, I have a Rowenta Master Valet Roll & Press Steamer floor stand-style steamer. I love it and use it far more often than the steam feature on my dryer. It’s especially good for dress shirts and blouses.

Yes, my 12 YO dryer has 2 steam/refresh settings. Love them and find them useful both for refreshing dried clothing that I didn't get around to folding right away as well as the random shirt/pair of pants/dress that acquired wrinkles when put away. Between that and my hand-held clothes steamer I rarely use my iron.
*** I still surprise myself when I remember that ironing my clothing for the day was a regular 5-10 minute part of getting dressed every morning.

I feel like this would be an invitation to mildew in my climate. So, no.

I have a "steam" but not a TURBO steam!
I've never used it but DH uses it all the time for his work shirts, it's a must have for him.
It has a water line just like the washer and fridge.

I feel like this would be an invitation to mildew in my climate. So, no. Not if you have AC in your home and you're just using it for a couple shirts or something (that's all it's for). I can probably beat you in humidity levels, living in Georgia!

Not turbo, but regular steam - a 20 min cycle. I love it because I hate to iron and haven't ironed in years.

I feel like this would be an invitation to mildew in my climate. So, no. We don’t have the turbo steam, but the kind you have to fill a small tank of water, and really like it. We have always hung almost every shirt DH owns to dry so they don’t get too short for him and have never had any issues with mildew. We have a space in the laundry room to hang about 10 at a time to dry, but it goes much faster if we hang it off the open closet door in a room with a fan. Actually had the electrical installed for a separate fan in there but never got around to hanging one, this is a good reminder, thanks!

I don’t have a steam option on my dryer. If I need to get rid of wrinkles I toss the clothes in with a wet towel and put the dryer on for 15 minutes.

We have a steam refresh setting. It takes 22 minutes. We have a water line to the dryer. I love it!

I have it but disconnected the pipe from the dryer and water line.
I just get a washcloth wet, wring it out really well and toss it in. Run for 30 min and problem solved.

I feel like this would be an invitation to mildew in my climate. So, no. I live in a very dry place so I have no first hand knowledge of mildew or humidity. The water line squirts some steam into the dryer then the dryer runs for 15-20 minutes and it's all dry in there, the drum and the clothes. I wouldn't think it would be a problem, but who knows.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your feedback. I'm still undecided... and distracted by several things. Need to just sit down and decide

I have one!! Bad news the water has never been hooked up to it. Good news if you have the steam feature (at least on the Maytag I have) you don't HAVE to hook it up right away.
