Oh my! I'd just go right back to bed. LOL! What are you up to today? I'm at work. But I was an hour late to arrive in my actual downtown office today. I woke up late, couldn't get myself going and then nearly fell in the shower. I was slipping and sliding all over the place. Jeremy told me he used an "in-shower" moisturizer last night which must have slicked the floor of the shower. All I know is that it was a feat to stay on my feet. I'm making a salad tonight. Jeremy wants to eat it too. It'll be black eyed peas with peaches and pecans. Sounds good to me. I need to go home. Because home is where the fun things are and the office is dumb.

scrapmaven hoping your power comes on before noon. jeremysgirl I about did the same in our shower yesterday. DH came in because he heard me and thought I had fallen. My knee is bothering me and I am compensating for it so I think that was part of the problem. It is another dreary day here. It is not supposed to rain but it sure looks like it could. It is really going to heat up this week. Slow day in the office. I have things I could be doing but no motivation... DH and I are going to a nearby park that has a lot of walking paths tonight. He wants to start walking with me but he gets bored just walking the same area. Dinner is rechauffe.

Happy Monday! Ugh scrapmaven. I hope it doesn't get too hot in your neck of the woods. It was already 77 when I woke up with my AC on. I'm plugging along at work this morning. It's going to be a pretty light week so I'm kind of working ahead since I'll be out toward the end of July. Not sure how mom is doing this morning but her blood sugar was pretty high again overnight. They dosed her and now it's low so it's like a boomerang back and forth. We had elected to work with the Hospice doctor rather than the facility doctor to manage her blood sugar so I'm hoping they can get it more under control. The Hospice nurse is supposed to be there today and she is familiar with working with brittle diabetics. Dinner tonight will be TJs chicken enchiladas and rice and salad. I'm glad I can just stay home today and not go anywhere. I was very social this weekend and now I'm tired. Hope you all have a great day!

I hope the fridge food survives scrapmaven - and no coffee? I'm so sorry jeremysgirl - ouch, glad you're ok. stormsts - I hope your knee feels better soon I didn't sleep well last night and was up early making sure DD18 got out the door by 7 for her 2nd and final day of orientation at college. Yawn. Dinner tonight is a Mediterranean Meatball Bowl - Ds33 found the recipe and it sounded awesome.

Happy Monday! The sun is shining and it isn't raining...for now. We've had rain every day for a week and another wet week on the way. The upside is this will help my water bill. Today is the beginning of my new "normal" and it oddly doesn't feel that much different. DD was off to NYC this morning for her first business trip since March. It will be good for her to get back on that horse so to speak. I am still dealing with the phone calls/paperwork that are involved, but now have time to start doing fun things as well. I am also taking it easy and catching up on my rest. My plans for today are a trip to the grocery for fresh fruit/veggies, a phone call or two to deal with accounts, laundry/ironing and then work on that baby quilt for the great niece who is about to turn 5! Dinner tonight will be a loaded baked potato as I have one that needs to be used. I want to thank everyone for all their wonderful comments and messages over the past week, as well as the past two years. The memorial service was simply amazing and I was surprised at how good the turnout was, especially considering the monsoon rains that day. I also learned just how much DH was loved and the impact he had on so many lives. It helps to ease the pain of losing him to hear all the wonderful stories about him.

I need to go home. Because home is where the fun things are and the office is dumb. I'm another that also loves "home" ... I can go for days without leaving the house and be just fine! Today is the beginning of my new "normal" and it oddly doesn't feel that much different. I'm so happy to hear that you are doing well ... you are very strong!

Good evening all, I had a fairly quiet day today. We had big storms overnight with a lot of rain and do today has been a lot cooler. I walked up to the local fabric and haberdashery store. I needed buttons for the cardigans I am knitting g ft or baby and dolls and also wanted to see what ribbons and fabric they have - I got buttons but nothing else but at least I now know what’s there. I also had a chat with older DS. He is coming up with suggestions for me to do with the girls while I’m there (Disney on Ice looks good!) He also let me know that baby is ‘not being well behaved’ and ‘seems to be attempting an early escape’ Yikes! It is still 4 weeks before the intended induction date and 6 weeks before actual due date, so we really need it to stay put a bit longer - hopefully at least until July 10, when I get there. Dinner tonight is teriyaki chicken sticks from the butcher, so I just have to heat them. There is some leftover pasta salad from Saturday that I will have with it. scrapmaven, I hope your power comes back soon and your food doesn’t spoil

I'm not working today and have nothing booked for the remainder of the school year ... last day for students is June 26th ... So I am on the summer job hunt ... there is a chain of western stores here that are hiring staff for the Calgary Stampede so I applied to work at the nearest location ... my resume does not reflect my extensive retail experience; just my teaching career so I have a cover letter stating that I have the skills they are looking for ... I know everything is done online now but I am going to go to the store this week and give the manager a hard copy and let them see that I'm not an "old lady" ... ageism is real and women my age (58) often don't get even an interview. I just finished tidying up a bit here because my cleaning person will be here soon ... yay! I might meet up with a girlfriend for lunch ... My mum is coming over for dinner because she doesn't like what they are serving tonight at her place! Things are still going well with the guy ... we texted for a long time last night

I about did the same in our shower yesterday. DH came in because he heard me and thought I had fallen. My knee is bothering me and I am compensating for it so I think that was part of the problem. Sheesh. Did you say the same thing I said to Jeremy? I was quoting Sheldon that we lack adhesive ducks. then work on that baby quilt for the great niece who is about to turn 5! Yeah, you best get on it if the "baby" is 5. LOL! The memorial service was simply amazing and I was surprised at how good the turnout was, especially considering the monsoon rains that day. I also learned just how much DH was loved and the impact he had on so many lives. It helps to ease the pain of losing him to hear all the wonderful stories about him. It is a very comforting thing to collectively mourn. I always say, funerals are for the living. I'm another that also loves "home" ... I can go for days without leaving the house and be just fine! Me too. I have plenty of fun things to do in my house. He also let me know that baby is ‘not being well behaved’ and ‘seems to be attempting an early escape’ Yikes! It is still 4 weeks before the intended induction date and 6 weeks before actual due date, so we really need it to stay put a bit longer - hopefully at least until July 10, when I get there. Whoa! I'll send good vibes baby stays put.

**GypsyGirl** Hugs as you start into your new phase of life. I wish the best for you as you navigate this new normal. We are also having a semi 'new normal' with my mom in hospice care. This is the first time in months that she's spent more than a week at her care home without being transported to the hospital. It feels weird to kind of have my guard down and not primed for the ER. I think this has truly made a difference in her care and it's a good new normal but it feels weird. I'm not used to being in calm mode and I feel a little edgy today. It's very good but very weird at the same time. It's also letting go and letting her hospice team be number one with her care.

Happy Monday Dinner friends! I had a busy weekend and wasn't able to make it online. I'll read the last few days threads in a bit. scrapmaven I hope your power is restored soon! There have been a lot of transformer issues in our neighborhood recently, we're in an older neighborhood and the infrastructure needs some updates. sueg Sending patient vibes to the new arrival, hopefully it's just restlessness and not impending arrival! jeremysgirl I'm glad you didn't fall in the shower, I don't like starting my week off being late or stressed, I hope the day calms down for you. Tearisci I hope your moms Blood sugar is controlled soon. leannec Awesome on the new guy! Can't wait to see how it goes, I hope its the start of something amazing. **GypsyGirl** welcome to the new norm, I'm so glad the memorial service went well and that is behind you and your DD was able to be there for your for as long as possible. Give yourself grace in settling in. Add me to the list of homebodies! I'm happiest when I don't have anywhere to go for days on end. Fiddler on the Roof was awesome yesterday! I thought of you scrapmaven with the yiddish. :-) We have an awesome local theatre, My friend and I are debating buying the flex passes for next season. DH is having his truck's transmission serviced, when he gets back, I'm going to make a trip to the local Quilt store to pick up my June Block of the month. I have two retreats planned for July and I've been prepping projects to work on at them. Of course, I have several more than I can possibly get finished while at them. Dinner is a chicken pot pie that I picked up at HEB, We also have some leftover Chicken lettuce wraps to finish off. Wishing everyone an amazing day!

Scrapmaven..Hope your power is restored as promised and your food is OK! GypsyGirl...Glad the Memorial went well, Hugs to you❤️
Dinner here will be chicken drumsticks, corn on the cobb and a salad.
I have been off work since last Wednesday and don't work till this Wednesday. I managed to complete the 11 page questioneer from the estate planning attorney, and faxed it off on Thursday..That was not an easy task. The office called today to book our first appointment which we will do in August....first available time. 😳😳 Thankfully that will be a zoom meeting. We only have to go in when all is said and done, as we need a notary for that. I'll be glad when it is finished. SO much to think about!!

Hi friends. Just a quick check in because I should probably do some work today.
DH's interview sounds like it went well. He wore a bowtie and he looked very snazzy. One of his interviewers asked if it was a "real" bowtie (yes - he knows how to tie them and wouldn't be caught dead in one you don't tie yourself). So hopefully he hears back soon about next steps.
Between a walk yesterday and this sinusitis, I'm exhausted today. I have a meeting in about an hour, but apart from that, just working on some refunds that need done. And I'll also add more comments to the survey results I've been compiling. They're due from attendees on 6/19, so I will spend all of 6/20 running the numbers through my pivot table in Excel that will spit out scores for me. It makes it very easy. I then compile all of those results for both internal and external use -- the speakers themselves will see things like agree vs. neutral vs. disagree percentages, but they don't get to see how many people we counted at their session and how many of those folks actually did an evaluation. (They're not mandatory to do unless they want continuing education hours, so we usually see about 1/3 of attendees actually do the survey.)
Dinner this week is chicken burrito bowls.

**GypsyGirl**, now you rebuild and you will find joy or it will find you when youdon't expect it. Linda, is yiur dd excited about going off to college? austnscrapaddict, glad you enjoyed Fiddler. Its a fun, but sad show. karenlou, it's very depressing to do wills and trusts. It's morbid, but it is necessary. Do somethong fun to counter the morose thoughts. rymeswithpurple, I have everything crossed that your hubby gets the job and that it's a great one. How far would you need to move?

Plus she'll be a commuter student at a university that doesn't really cater to commuters - as she is discovering - the ONLY parking pass she can get is for the park and ride lots on the outskirts of campus and she'll end up either walking 30 min or waiting for/taking a bus after driving nearly an hour in. She'll be fine once she settles in and finds her people - she is the most social of my very introverted kids (but still very introverted and quirky) - but that process might be painful in the meantime.

Just got out of the shower after AquaFit. Speaking of showers, jeremysgirl , tell Jeremy to knock it off! scrapmaven has the utility company said what the problem is? We used to lose power quite frequently but for some reason we haven't lost it once in the past 2 or so years. Knock on wood! **GypsyGirl** , big hugs as you navigate your new normal. rymeswithpurple keeping my fingers crossed for your DH. Love the bowtie story. Dinner will probably be Teriyaki Chicken.

Another homebody here! I love being at home. I enjoyed getting out but always love coming home. I can entertain myself for hours in my house.
DH and I went out for breakfast this morning and then did a big shop for groceries at WalMart. I picked up 3 plants for the front of the house so now I just need to remember to water them occasionally.
Supper will be grilled hotdogs.
We are going to watch grandboy #2 play baseball tonight.

scrapmaven, do you have power yet? Remember a few months ago I told y'all I was having my diamond engagement ring remounted with a hinge so I could get it over my enlarged knuckle? I picked it up and when she opened the box there was a light shining on my ring! Maybe that's how all ring boxes are nowadays but I thought it was so cool! It really made the ring sparkle.

yes!! robert talbott!!! dad of course worked in the era of suits and ties. he was the head of construction engineering for a local electrical utility. he also was one to do the unusual.. he even wrote a pamphlet and trained his surveyors in basic rock climbing.. which was needed on the job.
