So I have 4 days off between school and summer camp. Yesterday was exhausting because we had to move everything from the old room to new then move summer stuff to summer site and get that all set up. After that I had to go back to new room and measure everything solo and figure out furniture requests and placements. My co-teacher wasn't there as she seems to have no opinion until after I have figured things out. In any event it was a long day and I was exhausted.
Was planning on sleeping on thia morning, but my neighbor had to have the inside of his house gutted and for some reason the dumpster pick up people decided 530 am was the perfect time to come get it. The dumpster was almost as big as his entire driveway. It was not a quiet or quick process.
It is bad enough our garbage people come at 515 am on Monday, but at least they are quicker than this process. My husband flew out of the house to see what was going on. It sounded like a tank outside our house. Anyone else have some tiny vent to share?

(((Hugs)))
My vent is that commuter students at DD18's college can ONLY get parking permits for the park and ride lot on the outskirts of campus. So she gets to drive 45-60min into the city, park, and then take a bus to campus.

I am glad streets are getting repaired, but literally EVERY street where I normally drive for groceries, pharmacy or doctors are torn up with construction. It makes it difficult to determine my drive time to arrive on time for appointments.

I am glad streets are getting repaired, but literally EVERY street where I normally drive for groceries, pharmacy or doctors are torn up with construction. It makes it difficult to determine my drive time to arrive on time for appointments. My mom's area has been undergoing mass construction on nearby highways for over 3 years. In the past year they have decided to start construction on the back ways to get around the freeway construction. It is awful. The worst part is they don't ever seem to be actually doing anything. Just have road torn up and construction vehicles sitting there. I have been through on weekdays and weekends. Middle of the day, morning and early afternoon. I never see any work being done. A few weekends ago they completely shut down part of the freeway going one direction. I was driving the other direction at 11 am and there wasn't a person around doing anything. I don't know why they don't do one project at a time. Fix the freeway first. When it is done fix the bypass road next. Then work on the other road. The freeway project is especially annoying. They took away one exit and made two exits into 1, but you just drive next to the freeway after going past the first original exit. So there used to be exit X and Q. Now there is just X. There is no sign saying you need to take the X exit to access the Q road so people don't know and then have to go to the following exit, and guess what? You can't easily exit road Q from there because of another construction project!

The weather. It's the middle of June. It's not supposed to rain every day. We are having new siding put on our old house. The installers could only work 4 days out of the past 10. They did work all day yesterday. Started this morning but had to pack up as it began to rain. Forecast says 46% chance tomorrow. *sigh*

It makes it difficult to determine my drive time to arrive on time for appointments. This describes pretty much every summer in MN. Every street to everywhere is always seemingly torn up. I’ve heard our four seasons described as Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter and Road Construction!

My minuscule vent is that there are constantly obstacles in my path virtually everywhere I want or need to go in this house with this knee walker. I mean seriously, if it isn’t one of DH’s many pairs of shoes, it’d DD’s Crocs, somebody’s socks, the corner of a giant beanbag chair, a rug, this rubber Kong toy on a rope, the box fan, the main floor bathroom scale (which for some reason keeps getting pulled out of its corner multiple times a day—WHY???!), and most commonly the big dog who wants to park his big fluffy butt right next to or behind my walker so I can’t back up. 😤 I feel bad yelling at him constantly to move, but honestly I’m so over it. It’s hard enough just getting around on this dumb thing to begin with but to continually have to move other people’s junk out of my way is maddening. All I’m going to say is it’s going to be a very LONG summer. 😫

Much like yourself Skellinton, my neighbours dogs bark each morning when they open the door to take them for a walk. I don’t need to wake up that early - why don’t you stop them from barking? Just because you’re awake doesn’t mean everyone is 😠 Sorry, that’s a bit of a bigger vent than I intended 🫤

It sounded like a tank outside our house. Anyone else have some tiny vent to share? None of that sounds very tiny to me! This moving classrooms bit is awful. I subbed today in 1st grade (half day, thankfully!) and talked to teachers after school... SO many teachers are being forced to move classrooms for next year. One teacher has been there for 29 years, next year is her last, and she's being forced to move for that last year. And for a ridiculous reason too. Anyway, my tiny vent is that the Sketcher's slip-ons that I've worn all year are suddenly uncomfortable on my feet. I wore them for the afternoon and by the end my feet were screaming at me. I guess they've just worn out. But I hate shoe shopping! I usually end up ordering several pairs from Zappos, returning them, ordering a few more, returning them, then giving up until I'm desperate for shoes.

I have a headache and my GP wants to start me on migraine meds. Today I had to waste a really strong pain pill on my head. Not cool.

Very miniscule, FWP: I finally started using the McDonald's app so I can get my daily L Diet Coke for $1 instead of the current $2.29 or whatever it is.
THE APP WILL NOT LET ME ADD COOKIES. It's an option on the menu, but it's grayed out so I can't select it.
I was told by the shift manager that people use it all the time and she's never heard that before.
So, maybe it's really just The Universe telling me I don't need them? In any case it's certainly cut my cookie consumption down to almost zero from a previous one or two per day. 🤭

I am hoping (praying) that the changes I've made in my job will satisfy the Team Manager. Not sure I am staying in my position, considering stepping down. Right now, I am praying that things work out in my favor for a while yet.

Reddit says you can click on the greyed out cookies button and it will add them.
But I don't know how to tag people. Lol

I sent an email, we'll see if that helps. I really don't NEED them but it's now the principle of the thing! ETA if you hover over (or click their name if you're on the mobile version) you can see what their actual name is. I had to change mine but it's @ zg for me. Thanks for trying to help!

Group email and text went out stating time and my address. One of the MEN texted to ask when and where. demeter9 You were on the right track by typing @name, but some members have a different hidden name. Hover over Zee and you'll see it's zg, so type that.

I had to click on the PICTURE of the cookie instead of "add to order". Then the button to add to order becomes available. You don't have to do that with any other item so, not sure why they made it hard, but now the world is my oyster!

Here's my vent. I'm in a weird work situation where I'm currently supporting two teams of engineers, writing their user documentation. One team's product is being de-commercialized soon and I'm leaving the team at the end of July, but they are in a panic wanting everything documented before I leave because they still have to support it for two years as clients slowly move to a new product. And because they didn't listen the last six months I have been telling them they are running out of time, but that is another vent.
The other team is new to having a tech writer, so it's a lot on both ends of getting things finished for team one and gearing up on team two. I've had to set some hard boundaries with each to be able to knock out things on time, but the leader of the second team just seems to have no sense of work boundaries. When you need to talk to someone, you make sure their little communication light shows they are available, and you send a message asking if they have a minute. Common courtesy, yes? Three times now I've been in a meeting, one of those times I was presenting, when she tried to start a Teams call with me. I declined and messaged that I was in a meeting and told her when I was free and happy to chat, to which she responded she wasn't free at that time. Well...then maybe look at calendars and see when we both have a free moment like most normal people do?
I'm just glad she's not my boss. She's nice, but totally clueless as far as communication. I have discussed this with my boss, who found it rude and strange as well. Now I'm wondering if this lady has some sort of personality trait that doesn't allow her to read the room? I don't think she thinks her time is more valuable. She doesn't come off that way at all. But dang. Hopefully it will be better when I'm only working on that team. Who knows?

Mine is a miniscule vent- all my veggies are doing a great job this year. I tried several new items ( spinach, potatoes and eggplant) That eggplant refuses to cooperate. There are blossoms but they tend to dry up and fall off. It gets watered regularly so I guess the bees are not doing their job.

You can try hand pollinating them with a small paint brush (google can show you how) but too much nitrogen in the soil can cause blossom drop and so can too much wind.

If she's an engineer, she probably DOES have a personality trait that interferes with her being able to read the room. That's pretty common. My husband is an engineer and he's unusually quite "people-y" for an engineer--so he is the one who deals with customers and such. Lots of them are autistic/on the spectrum. Very intelligent and focused and not necessarily very good people skills.

My DH decided he was going to buy a $17,000 tractor and has no place to store it - never mind that he really does not need it! His justification is that he is getting to old to move dirt around in a wheelbarrow for our 2 acre yard and I can't argue his logic but he could rent one for the few times a year he needs it for much much less!
We have a 1 1/2 car garage but besides my car he parks his log splitter, toro mower and his Goldwing Motorcycle that he can't drive anymore because he only has 20% vision in his right eye and neuropathy with no feeling left in his feet.
We are retired but he went back to work from home to recoup what we spent last year on new windows, furnace and what he helped me with on our kitchen remodel that I saved for. I won't say anything to him but it will just mean one more thing I'll have to sell down the road . . .
And of course, our laptop is about to bite the dust, and I need to purchase a new one.
Thanks for listening - just needed to get it off my chest!

It makes it difficult to determine my drive time to arrive on time for appointments. Yes! I have two ways out of my subdivision and both are being paved as well as the street to the grocery store. Our highway north out of town is also torn up and the street to my work has been under construction since October of 2021. It is supposed to be done Spring of 2025. So they have 2 days to finish.Don't think they'll make it. Prior to the repaving, all of my neighborhood streets were getting new curbs. But it is needed. Most of the places around here were built in the 80's. It is time. I did read that Fort Carson to the interstate paving starts soon as well. So no way to get to the interstate without construction. Next year the roads will be fabulous, I'm sure.

I volunteer at a help agency. If a person applies for help, within 24 hours the person gets an email saying, "We will call, no or "send this information."
Every day I get at least 5 calls saying "I want to know the status of my request." I reply, "What did the email say that we sent?" ALWAYS the person says they didn't read the email.
The end of the application states that they will receive an email....
