I'm all about the polls today!
I am a ringer off person. The only people I know who have their ringer on are my parents. I remember when ringtones were all the rage and everyone had something unique.
I think if I were to have a sound play, it would probably be a traditional phone ringing sound. Now it just vibrates.

Off, unless I am expecting a call I want to be sure I hear.

It depends, it's mostly off.
I'll put it on when I am expecting a call and when I am working from home.

I need a choice for "Other". LOL! The ringer is off for unknown callers. It is on for people in my address book. If I am expecting a call, like from a service person or company, I turn my ringer on for everyone.

On- our mothers are elderly, so I need to be able to hear the phone ringing in case of emergency. At night, it is on do not disturb for all except my mom, dh, and ds. Anyone else has to call 2x in 10 minutes for it to ring through

Always on. My ringer was unintentionally off and I missed multiple calls from my mom when my dad was rushed to the hospital for a heart attack.
For people who have their ringers off, you hear the vibrating always even when you are sleeping? I just find it so bizarre that people turn their ringers off.

My mom routinely calls me at midnight from her nursing home because she has her days and nights mixed up and I hear the vibration even with the white noise on my phone.

On when I'm home or out doing errands. Off when I'm working or sleeping.

From 9:30 PM until 7:30 AM my phone is on do not disturb for everyone except family and very close friends. I also had it set for unknown callers to go straight to voicemail. I didn't even think about it until my 91-year-old mom was in the ICU and the doctor tried to call me but it didn't ring. After that, I turned that feature off. I do check it periodically before I go to sleep. When my mom was in the rehab hospital I took it off DND. Now that she's home I turned the DND back on because if something happens it will be my brother calling me and that will come through as he's in my favorites. My ringer is on all the rest of the time except for those times that I have muted my phone and forgotten to unmute it. Which happens more often than I care to admit.

Off. I do have my Apple Watch set to give me phone notifications, so it vibrates when I get a call, as well as my phone vibrating, so I don’t miss calls.

Off unless I’m expecting a call. My phone is generally close enough that I can hear the vibrate.

Off but set to vibrate UNLESS I am not wearing my watch. Which is also set to vibrate. If for some reason I am not wearing my watch, like when I forgot it last week to MD, I have it turned on. The ringer is a nice bell sound. I am so sound sensitive and get so irritated by hearing phones ring when they are not supposed to be on, that is the catalyst for mine to be off at all times. Even at home, when it's just me and the dogs. No ringer. At night, I put my watch on DND. The kids numbers will ring through if need be. If something were to happen to my mom, I wouldn't be able to go in the middle of the night so it waits until morning.

On. I leave the phone downstairs when I go to bed so I sleep peacefully.

Ringer on, softly.
If I set my phone down with the screen facing up, it blends right into the surroundings and I inevitably forget where I put it. Thankfully, I can just ask my Echo to call it, which leads to me wandering around the house - upstairs, downstairs, and back again - until I track it down. This happens at least a few times a month. If it were on vibrate, I’d never find it!
When I bought my newest phone, I made sure to get a colorful floral case featuring mostly periwinkle blue, specifically because that color doesn’t appear anywhere in my home. It helps… but only if I remember to place the phone screen-side down!
Honestly, I should just get a traffic-cone orange case with a matching bright orange screen cover. Sigh.

This is a question we have had before. It never occurred to me that people wouldn't have their phone ring unless they were in a meeting or movie or somewhere that you are asked to silence your phone. How do you know you have a call if you don't have the phone ring? Do you just check now and then? Part of it for me is that I don't use my phone for that many things except calls, texts, photos and listening to an audiobook.

Always on vibrate, unless I am expecting a call that I need or want to answer.

Off always. My watch vibrates when I have a call. I don't wear it while I'm sleeping and any calls have to wait until I'm awake. My parents live far away and there's nothing I could do immediately if they had a sudden health emergency anyway.

How do you know you have a call if you don't have the phone ring? Do you just check now and then? I can hear my phone when it vibrates. I do occasionally look at the notifications on my screen throughout my day, in case I am in a noisy environment and didn't hear the vibration. If I am away from home, I also check my email throughout the day and when doing that I will see any missed texts or calls notifications on the screen. My phone is for my use. Other people's need for instant gratification or other people's sense of urgency, is NOT my priority. I feel that returning a text or call within a couple hours (or more if I am busy doing something or sleeping) is sufficient response time.

Part of it for me is that I don't use my phone for that many things except calls, texts, photos and listening to an audiobook. I see some folk turn it on if they're expecting a call but I get calls I wasn't expecting but do want to take. And it's not always easy to call people back, or to catch them being available. It reminds me of people not answering their door unless they're expecting someone.I don't understand that either

Depends. I often turn off all sounds on my phone as they can cause the dogs to bark. Lol
I have ringtones for family so if it's one and not next to me I can decide if I want to answer it.
I have do not disturb set for night with only approved numbers allowed for calls and texting.

My phone is for my use. Other people's need for instant gratification or other people's sense of urgency, is NOT my priority. But it might be for your benefit. Maybe a cancellation came up for the hairdresser/medical/whatever but if you don't grab it, someone else will. That's just one example off the top of my head.

I want to vote both. Off when I am working or after bedtime. Same thing with my notifications. On when I am out or expecting a call. I hate that constant little sound of a text, or a message or an email so generally my notifications are muted.

I book any appointments during my preferred times and days parameters and wouldn't be interested changing an already booked appointment.

I love that! littlemama - I need to figure out how to do this too: "At night, it is on do not disturb for all except my mom, dh, and ds. Anyone else has to call 2x in 10 minutes for it to ring through" sueg - I had this turned on but it has somehow been deactivated. Need set it up: "my Apple Watch set to give me phone notifications, so it vibrates when I get a call, as well as my phone vibrating, so I don’t miss calls." (And learn how to quote multiple people in one reply!)

Mostly on. I silence calls when I am working though. I have my phone on me since I need the timer at work. My watch will also vibrate if the ringer is off. My vehicle will also let me know of an incoming call.

I don't need a ringing phone to tell me to look. It shows missed calls and any texts or voice mails will be right there on the notifications.
