Beautiful rainbow. One of my favorite things to see. My tiny good thing is I was just able to spend a few days at our camp after working a 10 day stretch. Happily, the loons were in our part of the pond most of the time and it looks like both of the babies are still around. I worry about them as it is often that something happens to one or both (if we are lucky enough to get two loonlets hatched) many years. Until they get bigger I am always holding my breath. But mama and daddy loon were very vocal this weekend so I think they were working very hard to keep them safe. I love the erie sound of their calls/hollering, but know that they are stressed when they are calling so I feel a bad for them. They are still kind of little brownish fuzzy things right now and so cute. I didn’t get any pictures of them this time. I also took a drive past a place that I go to watch amazing sunsets, it was too early for sunset but the way the rays of sunshine were peaking out from the clouds was still beautiful in my opinion. I did get a picture of that.

Wow! How cool. The sky turned such a weird color before it started raining.
Mine is that DH and I are celebrating 36 years married this week! We will have been together for a total of 40 years this November.

Cool pics!! I LOVE seeing storm photos. I'm weird, I know... LOL Happy Anniversary crazy4scraps !! It's been a sucky year so far, I lost my Mom & favorite Aunt both in March. The last year leading up to Mom's death has been nothing short of terrifying and the hardest of my life to this point. She had Lewy Body dementia and it happened so so fast. My Birthday was last Thursday (3rd). I was ok with nothing special for my Birthday, I was looking forward to going out to my she shed and scrapping the day away. My SO had other plans... LOL I got engaged that morning!! We went for a drive, down by our riverfront, and reminisced about the last few months and all that we've been through in our 10-year (!!!!) relationship. I didn't think ANYTHING of any of that because we do that every once in a while, and after all, it was my Birthday, so thinking/chatting about the happenings since the last one is just a natural thing. I had NO idea he was leading the conversation in a specific direction until he stood up (I thought we were leaving lol) and took a box out of his pocket, and got down on one knee!! It was a good Birthday, & holiday weekend!! There was a little cloud of sadness, but it could have been so much harder.

Happy Anniversary crazy4scraps and happy engagement and birthday mel! This has been a hard year for my family. We put my mom in a nursing home under Hospice care which was a hard decision for the family, but the best place for her. My dad is 93 and living with my sister right now. He's kind of got a new lease on life. He's going out with us and even spent the weekend at the lake with my sister. Something he would never have done before. He feels guilty that he's having a good time in life while my mom is under care. We have told him that it's important for him to live life to the fullest during the time he has left.

I am happy that all my laundry is finally done. Work has been a rough and I've been worn out when I get home and then the weekends have been a little busy so it piled up a bit. I am WFH today so I got up early to get it done. Sometimes, it really is the little things. Mel - CONGRATULATIONS!! And Happy Birthday! I am sorry about your mother & aunt. My mother had LBD also - she declined for a while then hit a banana peel and the last 4 months were rough for her and the family. Sending gentle hugs. crazy4scraps - Happy Anniversary!! compeateropeator - your post reminded me of the movie On Golden Pond with the loons. Your picture is beautiful and I am glad you're getting a little break. mikklynn - that is a spectacular rainbow!

I'm glad he is finding some joy in his life again. Congratulations, mel Wow! So many great things are happening. A small thing here is that I've started playing Pickleball at our Y. We have a national championship player as an instructor. She's visiting family for the summer and teaching any member who wants to show up. Boy, have I learned all the things we did wrong the one time we played at the beach. What I enjoy most is how easy the friendships are developing in the group. I think some of us will continue to play when she leaves - old achy joints willing.

Congrats, Mel !!! Love that you were surprised! My good thing to share - Just returned from a refreshing trip to Costa Rica. My DH had to go for business, so I met him there, and then we spent 4 delightful days on the Caribbean coast. Gonna be hard to go to work tomorrow.

Tearisci - you have had a tremendously hard year and I am sure so over whelming at times. I did want to say to you and your family are pretty amazing for working together to provide your parents with such dedicated care. I am so glad your father is doing better. christinec68 - I agree sometimes it really is just the tiniest of things that can turn a day around. Glad the clothes are done. I never can seem to get it so I have it all done…and I am just one person. 😂. After I posted about the Loons, I thought people are going to think that I laid those eggs, sat on them, and hatched them myself the way I went on and on about them. It is funny how we can become possessive and protective to the wildlife around us. stormsts - thanks for the picture compliment. It really doesn't do what I saw justice, my pictures never seem to. 😆. But it was really beautiful and the rays of sunshine were just so vivid and obvious. Being thankful for Health and family are at the top of list and appreciating them and all that you have is a big thing. lisae - I am glad you have learned a lot about pickleball from one of the best. Sometimes it is amazing how much a little instruction helps. I am always oh I can figure that out…but the actuality is lessons really do help. But more importantly is that hopefully those friendships will continue even if you don’t win the Pickleball championship! 😉 anniebeth24 - I am glad you got a little trip away amd enjoyed it. Bonus is your husband got to mix up his work trip bit and you were able to enjoy each other’s company and have some fun together. Thanks to everyone who responded to this thread. I love threads like this. Nothing earth shattering, just good ol’ little tidbits of Pea joy, thankfulness and gratitude. Keep sharing, we all need to hear a some positives in a world with so much sadness and strife…and immediate and constant access to it.

compeateropeator That is a spectacular photo! Mel I am so sorry for the losses in your life. Congratulations on your surprise engagement! Zee I'm sorry for kind of stealing your earlier thread! I could not find it yesterday, even though I must have looked right at it. Of course this morning I saw it right away.

Right now we are just renting a small apartment in SF - with a small deck - I miss my garden! But I just added some zinnias and the cheerful little flowers make me so happy…

I started my weight loss journey the end of April and so I've lost 22lbs. Go me!
My youngest is finishing his MBA degree and started a new job a few weeks ago that he says is going great.

We just cut down and pulled out 20 trees from our back yard. It was exhausting. I am not a fan of heavy labor. It was also 90*. But it is DONE! Our city sends a chipper to our mountainous neighborhood twice a year.
Also, we're leaving for the Bahamas for a family cruise. We often travel with one son and DIL, this time both sons and spouses are going. It will be my grand daughter's first plane ride.

One of my dearest friends is a college professor and we had lunch today! We haven't seen each other for months, as schedules didn't align, but oh how I love her and to spend time with her!
