Good Morning.
I'm hoping that sueg is w/her family today after a very long flight. It's a very exciting time for Sueg and I am so happy for her.
This morning dh and I have an errand to do and this afternoon I have a dreaded dental cleaning. I can handle major surgery, but I'm a total weannie at the dentist.
Dinner will be rechauffe chicken, peas, scallions and rice.
What are you up to today?
What's on your menu?
Wishing everyone a happy, serene day!

Hi scrapmaven. I actually like getting my teeth cleaned. Although I could do without the hygienist talking my ear off. (J/K, my hygienist is my sister) Is the errand for more remodel stuff? I'm having a quite interesting day. I've lost nearly 25 pounds. I went to dress for my office today and thought, well I'd better wear pants because it's cold in there. I put two pairs of pants on and was like, these are a little bit big. Then I saw a pair I bought in April 2024. I picked them up at the thrift store for just a couple of bucks and had planned on returning them because they didn't fit. And? They fit. I wish they were a slight bit looser, but they look better than the too big pants. So I went in the back of the closet and pulled out a dressy tank from the thrift store that was also too small. And? It fits. I wore this and threw on a black cardigan and off to work I went pleased with myself. I can't "see" the weightloss. But apparently it is there. I am having rechauffe tonight. I made the filling for some pinto bean/corn flautas. I made two last night and I'll make some more tonight. After asking Jeremy and his daughter 18 times what they'd like to have for dinner tonight and them not answering, I'm deciding that I just don't care what they eat. I'm adopting this attitude more and more lately.

I'm heading to AquaFit then DH and I might go see the new Jurassic Park movie to celebrate his birthday. We already celebrated with DS over the weekend so DH doesn't want a big fuss. I might get a few steaks to grill for dinner.

scrapmaven Does your dentist have Nitrous? That helps with my dental anxiety. We had a really tough night with Mom last night. She has been refusing to eat and drink and is rapidly declining. Because she is aspirating her food, she has to have a thickener in her drinks, and her food has to be chopped really small. She hates the thickened liquid and only likes drinks really cold with lots of ice. The doctors won't ok ice, so she's been having to drink drinks that are warmer. We talked to the hospice nurse about it, and she says that we should sign a waiver so that she can have ice if that's what makes her happy. She said if she gets pneumonia, then they'll treat it, but at this stage in life, she should have her comforts. I agree, and my sister, who is POA, is going to sign one. The other thing they did was take all of her cardmaking supplies out of her room because they were becoming a hazard. She would pull everything out to 'organize" on her bed late at night, and things would fall on the floor and create fall hazards. The supplies are now being held in the Activities Director's office, and she has a small tote that she can have in her room to work on. She can get papers, etc, out of the AD's office when she needs them, and they are going to do card crafts once a week with the residents. I think this is a good solution, but my dad is really upset and says this will 'kill her.' (he's a bit of a drama queen). He's worried that she'll get lucid today and realize all of her stuff is gone. I said if that happens, we just tell her that because of space, they are keeping them in the office. No big deal, right? I know he's just worried because she was barely coherent yesterday. I think we are all starting to realize that she is declining pretty rapidly, as everyone says, and that we need to cherish the time we have with her. DS may fly down this weekend, and it would be nice because my sister is out of town and we could use the extra help. Sorry for the long-winded post, but it's just super depressing right now and we're having to face things that are unpleasant. I think my dad and I will take dinner down to her tonight. I made hamburger gravy over mashed potatoes last night, and I think she would like that. Hope you all have a great day!

DH and I are off to the big city, about an hour away. DH bought his truck at a dealership there and is using the last of his free oil changes today. We are also going to Costco and then for dinner at The Keg. We have Keg gift cards so the meal will taste even better!
Mom is coming over to spend the day with Walker. There is forecasted thunderstorms this afternoon so I’m happy that she will be here with him even if he will be hiding under the bed.

new Jurassic Park movie to celebrate his birthday. I hope you enjoy it. You'll have to give a preview synopsis of the plot. I did not like the one where it was a theme park again. I kind of fell off the bandwagon there.

Happy Wednesday! The week is flying by and I don't feel like I've accomplished very much. This morning I have a quick errand to run then I will be home the rest of the day. At least the errand is a fun one! A pair of sandals I've had my eye on has gone on sale and my salesperson is holding a pair for me in my size. After that it's the usual to-do list of things I swear I'll do daily and it never happens. I am making an effort to be up and out earlier in the day since we are in a rain pattern where we tend to get storms every afternoon. Hopefully it will help keep the water bill down though!
The one thing I have done this week is buy good, fresh food and prepped it all. I've put on about 5 pounds recently and my bras are feeling tight. Time to cut out the junk and fast food and get back to my healthy diet. Last night I actually cooked myself a nice dinner and ate it! Tonight will be salad and a hamburger patty. I like to cook the messy stuff on Wed night since the housekeeper shows up on Thursday! There's always a method to my madness!
Hope everyone has a great day.

Is he just struggling because she's at the end of her life? Having trouble accepting it? I feel for him. Usually hospice counsels the family on the end of patient's life. Does yours do that?

Good morning! Well, I hope you all had a good morning. Seems like jeremysgirl did!! Way to go!! Here is a copy and paste from my FB. Pictures and a video are there if we are friends. "Let me show you two very different sides of Shiloh. For the last 2 nights she has been stuck like glue to my side. Afraid of the storms. Today, the dogs go out. Only Scout came in. I go to the usual spot, the playhouse. No, she's not there. The blocking I put up is undisturbed. Go to the other side of the house, nope. Oh no! Has she gotten under the fence or through a small hole? Which is laughable. Have you seen her backside?!? I quickly get my shoes on to head out and look. Bbuutt decide to look again at the playhouse. As I walk around, I hear a whimper. Dagnabbit! She found a way under. And COULD NOT GET OUT. I grabbed the shovel and start digging. Nope, not enough. Grab a duck stick to entice. No effort. I finally move all the blocking from the larger hole. More whimpers. I try and grab her paws to pull her. She pulled them under the playhouse faster than the wicked witch's legs! I grab her collar. She slips out. I give up. I walked away. Mosquitoes were all over the place, I was sweaty. Did I say I was wearing a dress? Yes, I was. All of a sudden, who comes prancing by? With absolutely no frikken remorse. She did not get the duck stick." Shiloh is my 50# mix of something. Mountain Cur, Plott Hound, Pittie, who knows? scrapmaven I wish you well at the dentist. I don't have any issues when I go there. But I do dislike having to reply to the hygenist when they ask me a question and I have tools stuck in my mouth. Why? cadoodlebug that is a bra I could get behind! Tearisci, awwww, I am sorry. Just big hugs to you all. It is tough at this stage. taylortroop I may have to start bringing my pup up to the office. For the last 2 afternoons we have had bad storms. I pay for it once I get home as I have a 50# shadow following me. I get it. Dinner? Hmmmm, I have no idea. IF it is not raining or has not rained this afternoon, I have to get into the backyard and refill the holes I had to dig to get above mentioned dog out. Those have to be refilled and the blocking has to be done and I have to figure out some new way to block it. She is determined to get under that house. I have no leftovers and nothing prepped. I do have some frozen crumbles and some pasta sauce. Maybe spaghetti. It might just be an apple at this point.

When you are in the midst of all we have been through, I think it is just survivalist eating. And people bring food over and you hate to waste it. I am back in my good food stage and it has helped. The 8# I put on, I have lost. Now I need to work on the other 35 hanging over my head.

jeremysgirl , you are taking such great care of yourself. WTG. Perhaps you need to do a bit more shopping just to get a couple mix/matcch things to wear while you continue to lose weight. Wish we could go shopping together. My dentist gives me a numbing rinse. Cleanings don't hurt at all, but I am scared, anyway. I'll be fine and I love the feeling afterward of freshly polished teeth. I'm actually going to Best Buy for a new tablet. My tablet is 7 years old and it's time for a new one. I'm not a fan of Best Buy, but they're matching Prime deals, so I'll go, because dh wants to look in person.
**GypsyGirl** and naby64 , you're both navigating your new normal and it's up and down, I'm sure. Be patient w/yourselves. naby64 , perhaps you could help us find our turtle. He has been missing for 2 weeks. Turtles borough and can be impossible to find. tear We're more worried that something carried him away. Tearisci , the social worker can work w/your father. I suggest contacting the Hospice and asking them to send a social worker to talk to your dad. Your mom's decline is normal. Hospice is a stressful and very sad time for everyone. She'll have the occasional rally, but those are usually just steps and create false hope. I feel for you and your family. This is hard stuff and it might be a good idea for you to spend some time w/the social worker, as well. ((((HUGS)))).

You wouldn't want to go shopping with me. I'm seriously no fun. When I get a feeling I need something, I hit up my neighborhood thrift store, buy anything in my size that looks appealing and then go home, try it on, find out half doesn't fit, so return it next time I go...hahahahaha...

Happy Wednesday dinner friends! Tearisci big hugs for you and your family. I hope you can all find peace. jeremysgirl Way to go!! Why is so much more fun to have baggy clothes than it is to have them be tight?? hehe! sueg safe travels!! naby64 I laughed at your pup- adventure this morning, I'm sure she is saying "That was fun mom, let's do it again tomorrow" I'm going for my colonoscopy in a couple of hours, I think I'm clean, I sure hope so. I was up most of the night and took a nap between trips to the potty this morning. I'm working a little now and feel a little better, but I'm hungry and thirsty. I had chills last night and sweats this morning, has anyone else experienced that with colon prep? Dinner will be something on the way home from the exam. DH has made some suggestions, I finally told him to STOP! I am starving and he isn't helping. I'm not sure what I'll feel like after I'm finished. Wishing everyone a great day!

Last night, Ellie chased him into the fire pit that Jeremy burns brush in. And then Jeremy went out there and hosed him down inside the fire pit hoping the water would deter him from coming back. I made Ellie go back in the house because I did not want her bitten by this stupid groundhog. And she stood in the back window going nuts while Jeremy hosed him down. The groundhog would not come out. So we just went to bed. But first thing this morning, she was out at the damn fire pit waiting to see the groundhog.

I woke up with a knee more sore than usual. oh well. went swimming for 30 min. sat in hot tub and also washed my duvet cover in the big machines at the recreation center --at the poolside.
dh has been messing around with his bike all morning. I have a zoom call, then my first meeting with a new trainer at the new gym. then we will hit the post office, rinse off and go out to dinner!!
no cooking. it is very hot here this week but our condo does stay cool.. as it is on the ground floor and we have concrete floors. doesn't get much direct sun.
sounds like everyone is busy!! take care and have a good day

naby64: Your post made me giggle. The antics of dogs are crazy. Walker hides under the bed but has difficulty figuring out how the heck to get out from under there when he can’t stand up and turn around. He also caught a squirrel yesterday in the backyard. DH and I were in the house and heard the squirrel scream. Walker lost all his recall skills and had the squirrel trapped under his paw. No amount of shouting would work. I had to physically drag him off the squirrel and DH had to thump it with a shovel to put it out of its misery.

I have had a busy day so far! A neighbour personally invited a few residents of my condo complex, including me, to a Stampede Breakfast in her suite this morning ... so fun! These are the ladies that I have Afternoon Tea with every month ... they are all older than me and I love them! I had to leave early from that because I had a hair appointment ... I told my stylist I wanted to be totally blonde so that's what she did! Yay! Here I am right now: Now I'm thinking about lunch ... I haven't even considered dinner! There was a post at the end of yesterday's thread from sueg ... she arrived in Australia safely and they are still waiting for the new baby! ![]()

Good morning all, It is barely 7am and I am wide awake and decided it’s not worth trying to sleep anymore. In a bit, I’ll get up, shower and head over to the terminal building in search of coffee. Hotel breakfast is ridiculously expensive, given I will only have coffee and maybe a yogurt or muffin. My travels went well and I am raring to go!
This morning I’ll head to my sister’s house, unpack and then repack my carryon bag so I’m ready to go when baby action starts. At some point I’ll head to DS’s house to see them. Dinner will probably be there.
