Hi everyone! It's going to be a hot day here today but I have not much planned other than to meet a neighbour for tea at 1 pm I do need to do a load of laundry but if it doesn't happen until tomorrow, no biggie! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... me and my cousin Michelle at the rodeo on Thursday ... we have been close our entire lives and really need to get together more often because we always have a great time! Do you have a sister or cousin that you are close to? Dinner tonight is undecided ... maybe takeout pork dumplings! Yum! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Good morning! I've been up since 6:30. I was at Lowes at 7:30. Front yard is cut. Back yard has been cropped in the bush/tree limb dept. If I can get the lawn mower started again, I'll cut the small section that has grass. Sitting in the shade drinking water in a nice breeze. If I can't get the mower started, then I'm painting the metal storage shed.
I got a paint sample for my porch ceiling. I'm going to do the southern thing and paint it haint blue. Look it up. I'm settling into my earthy, listen to your inner voice self. If I had a tree that would work, I would do a blue bottle tree. So I may just hang blue bottles at the end of the porch or on the playhouse porch hang.
Dinner is definitely takeaway and may even be beef.
I don't have a sister and not close to my familial cousins. I would say I am closest to my DH's cousin. I always joked I got her in the event of a divorce. Now she's just mine.

Two sisters, but you all knew that. One crazy, one bossy, but I’m stuck with both of ’em. Your cousin looks fun, leannec!! Today I have zero plans. So thrilled for a free day. Dinner will be the chile verde my brother brought me from the Mission district in SF. (Very old and traditionally heavily Mexican neighborhood.) Sides TBD. I’m planning to make chicken stock today, too. It’s been a while.

Dinner here is pork carnitas. Ds is cooking. You all know that I’m very close to my sister, karenlou. She is amazing and I’m so grateful for her. We have another sister who has completely separated herself from the family. We also had 4 brothers. We’re the only ones who are close. I am sad to say that Ds quit his job. I am sad but know it was too much for him, physically, especially after not working for over 5 years.

It’s a hot one here so the three of us (DH, Walker and myself) are chilling in the house. I took mom to a market this morning and she bought some one person meals already prepared which will be great for her suppers. She eats terribly because she doesn’t like to cook for just herself.
I have no sisters and no cousins who I’m close to. I only have two cousins (my dad was an only child and my mom had one sister) and we’ve never been close.
Supper will be chicken fettuccine Alfredo for me and DH will grill himself some sausages.

Fun photo leannec ! My sister was my best friend, I miss her. Except when I was very young or when we visited, I never lived close to my cousins. There are only 3 of us left and they are all back east. KelleeM I'm sorry it didn't work out your DS ~ hopefully something else will come up that is a better fit. I've been running errands while DH is playing in a golf tournament. In this God-awful heat. Tomorrow we'll head to the Bay Area for our Meet & Greet in advance of our Greece trip. It's always in the host's backyard so it will be hot. There should be about 35 of us. I just finished a batch of pralines and will make one more batch to take. Sending big hugs to everyone.

Well hello everyone. I just got home from Scrapfest. It's a contest where artists get to search around a dump for several hours and then have to make a sculpture out of what they found. Very cool. I'll post a couple of pics. I have a sister. We weren't close growing up, then we got close college, 20s, 30s, and well I miss being close with her. I think she is just wound too tight. Anxiety. It's all anxiety. So sometimes it can be difficult. I have two girl cousins on my mom's side. Jenn is 5 years younger than me and we always have a great time when we get together. Her husband is a riot. Jeremy enjoys them. My other female cousin is 19 years younger than me. I love her, I see her quite a bit for living far away. She's a good kid. But we aren't peers. On my dad's side there's just way too many of us I'm number 24 of 27 grandkids. And we lived a distance from everyone else. I'm sorry about your DS KelleeM but I understand the challenges. Esther really had a hard time holding down a job. She wasnt working at the time of her death and I'm unsure she would have. lucyg I am the crazy sister and my sister is the bossy sister. I'm curious, what kind of sister does that make you? I've got some scarlet runner beans in the crockpot. Will make a chili with them. Tomatoes, corn, zucchini from my neighbor. These scarlet runner beans are fancy. I need to use up my fancy beans so I have an excuse to buy more.

Happy Saturday!
DS and I took my dad to brunch this morning and then they spent a few hours going through old memorabilia and pictures. DS loves old stuff and got a big bag to put together to take home.
Mom has done very well with DS being here. They have a special bond and she's just been so happy.
Tonight, we're going to teriyaki. We have a good PacNW style restaurant here and it was DS's choice to go. My brother and his GF will probably go with us too.
I am very close to one of my sisters. She's more like a mom to me. I was also close to my cousins growing up because they were slightly older than me and lived close.
Hope you all have a great day!

I'm back in the cool AC. I don't even know the temp right now. But I got the metal shed painted with one qt before I ran out of paint. I then decided that since I couldn't start the mower, I would set up my little pool. Here it is. I've got a couple of more little touches to do, and I've got a solar fountain that's fun in it. Last year I couldn't get my dogs near the pool. However, if you throw in some unicorns and little ducks, someone will risk his life to get one. 😆 And of course, as I was getting near filling, big clouds rolled in, and distant thunder could be heard. So I may have to run put and cover. And because the dog decided to romp, it's already dirty and I'll have to vacuum it. But not today.

I dont have any sisters and I dont have any first cousins, so no, I dont have any of either that I am close to.
Dh and I are going to grab takeout from the Thai restaurant we love. They are struggling as the city is completely reconstructing their parking lot as well as one of the 2 roads you could park on to get there. We will share beef fried rice (normally he gets chicken and I get shrimp, so since we are sharing we decided on something different). We will also have crab wontons and shrimp chips if they have them.

dh and I went down to the local art fair.. in the big festival meadow this morning. he biked and I took the bus. we had lots of fun wandering around the stalls.. and they had a nice shady eating area and some food trucks.. so we got mexican for lunch. I bought some notecards, some pull ties for my jacket and a jumpsuit/overalls thing.. very cool looking and it fit!!! I'm so short usually it doesn't work. but it did. in black. with neon green shoulder straps.
dh is going back tomorrow I think.
dinner is going to be leftovers out of the fridge..there is some left over pizza.. and I'll have cheese and fruit. or something.
I have one sister who is severely mentally ill. I am a long distance caretaker for her.. but I only see her in person 2-3 times a year. I have no first cousins.. and only know a few second cousins.. I don't have many relatives. I was closest to my sister in law, but she died last year. dh is not close with his sister. so we don't hang out with family other than our kids.
pretty warm out.. but there is a breeze.

My dad had a sister and she won’t call us. My dad has to call her and she is a kook. She didn’t even tell my dad her daughter has a serious relationship has a serious boyfriend. Like nothing.

I need this pool. it looks just the right size for a good soaking on a hot day. I got it at Sam's last year. Only $35. They have them again this year but are $40. And yes, they are perfect to sit and soak. I find I can't do heat much anymore but I can get out in this and get some natural Vit D that I need and I feel better. And I will pay for everything I did in the heat most likely later this evening and tomorrow. I did check the temp when I got ready to shower. 94 but feels like 106.

I have 2 sisters. I’m closer to my older sister. She’s staying at her son’s in the UK and we’ve talked on the phone 2x today. I’m really close with cousin from dad’s side. We lived a block away growing up. We went away to college together. Him 2 years before me. And he and his roommates always looked out for me. We see each at least monthly. Dinner isn’t decided. We are visiting dd3 to see her new apartment. I’m in Farmington Hills jeremysgirl. How long did the artists have after they went to the dump? cadoodlebug funny meme austnscrapaddict I meant to respond about your friend dilemma. You def don’t need her for a friend.

Wow, your pool really does look inviting, naby64! Enjoy! And I hope you find one for yourself too jeremysgirl! Dinner was leftover pizza. DH is binge-watching some show on Netflix and I'm scrapping & making some cards. I didn't do much today except recharge. (DH says until I retire that is what I should be doing on weekends - and he's right!) I did do some cleaning and laundry, then treated my self to a bath in my soaker tub while DH had a shower after mowing. I don't take baths as often as I'd like but when I do it's soooo relaxing. Usually I'm a morning shower person instead, especially when I need to wash my hair. It's long-ish and thick/curly so if I try to leave it to dry overnight it's still wet in the morning. When I wash it in the morning I can just let it air dry and style it later on unless I'm going somewhere that will require me to use the blow dryer...I mostly try to avoid that! And I WFH so the vast majority of the time I can let it air dry, and I don't wash it every day anyway. I love the scrapfest idea and the pictures you took are great! Which one did you vote for, jeremysgirl? I have one sister - she and I are very close and would love to actually live closer to each other. As it is we live about 8-9 hours apart and don't see each other nearly often enough. But we talk on the phone a lot. I'm also very close to all my sisters-in-law: DH's 3 sisters and his brother's wife. DH & I are getting together with his family tomorrow as a matter of fact, so that should be fun! My brother is long divorced and I was never close to the piece of work he was married to (pretty much the opposite of close...but those are stories best left forgotten!) I have several female first cousins as well but we didn't see each other much when I was growing up and had pretty much nothing in common then or now. Most were a fair bit older than me, and we really didn't keep in touch much as adults either.

Do you have a sister or cousin that you are close to? I'm the middle of 3 girls - my older sister lives in another country and is 20 yrs older than me. Unfortunately distance has made it hard to be close but we did see her last year (first time for me since 1990) and we keep up a bit on FB. My younger sister (4 yrs younger) and I did not get along as kids/young adults but we're pretty close now - we travelled internationally together last fall (with our husbands) and that was awesome. She lives quite a distance so we really only see each other every year or so but we chat regularly on FB chat. Cousins? I have 2 1st cousins(a brother and sister both younger than me) on my mum's side - I knew them when we were kids and we're FB friends but I doubt I could pick them out of a crowd. I haven't seen them in 40+ years. I have 5 1st cousins on my dad's side - 4 of them live in the UK and the 5th passed years ago. They are all between me and my older sister in age. The two I keep in touch with are brothers - the other 3 were my Aunt's kids and we lost touch when my aunt and uncle passed. Dh's sibs? he's the youngest of 7. The oldest four have all passed and we're not in touch with the other two. I am sad to say that Ds quit his job. I am sad but know it was too much for him, physically, especially after not working for over 5 years. I'm sorry it didn't work out for him. I hope he's not too discouraged and he can try again somewhere else. jeremysgirl - those look amazing -what a fun idea! naby64 - enjoy the pool DD18 cooked tonight - she made chilli mac which she loves and will take leftovers for lunch all week. I had a small (very small) helping and filled up on watermelon. It's not my favourite - mostly because it's pasta, cooked tomatoes, and peppers...none of which I enjoy. she does a good job making it though.

I have one sister. We're very close, but rarely get to see eachother in person. We didn't talk for 10 years unless it was to scream at eachother. Then my mother received her terminal diagnosis. We worked together to support our parents and as we did so we talked and talked and one day I apologized for my actions in the relationship. That was a game changer. It took tragedy to bring us together. Now she's a best friend.
I have 2 cousins that I will never know or want to know. Their mother was psychotic and dangerous. My extended family is a bunch of awful on both sides and I have no need to ever talk to them. I'm so much better off w/o them.
My dh's family is my family. His cousins are my cousins. We are very close and it's been great to have a family that I can trust and be close to. It was very healing for me to see a healthy, functioning family dynamic.

I am number 3 of four girls and I only see number 2 sister and the others I have not had contact with since 1999.
The sister that I am close to is more than just a sister and with her DH and my DH we spend a lot of time together. We have been on numerous trips together and see each other weekly, plus the odd phone call and/or text message!
my favourite sister is DH’s sister. She is my confidant, my friend and I absolutely think she is fabulous🥰
When DH and I were dating SIL was a great support to me and has been ever since. Unfortunately she and her DH live interstate to us so we don’t see each other as often as we would like.
