I've only ever taken a multi-vitamin when I was a child and when I was pregnant. But now as I am definitely in my perimenopausal years, I thought I might like to take one for awhile.
However, I can't seem to find any that work for me. I don't want a gummy. I can take a pill. I don't need extra flavors and sweeteners in my vitamin just so that I can chew it.
I also don't want artificial colors. Why does my pill need to be a cute color?? I'm not 5.
Lastly I don't want gelatin, and was surprised to see that even hard pills (as opposed to gel caps or gummies) all seem to have it. What gives? I get the soft capsules/gummies having it, but not the hard pills.
Any suggestions? Or am I just too damn fussy?

Actually, turns out that DH was already aware of a company that only sells vegetarian vitamins, which takes care of the gelatin issue, and they have no artificial colors, either. (I just automatically thought to ask other women, first. DH? What could he know? ) Will they do anything? No idea. But I feel out of sorts right now, and I have multiple little annoyances and I feel like I want to give it a try for a bit and see if I see any difference.

Talk with your doctor to see if supplements are necessary. You can be wasting money. I have annual blood work done, and the only supplement I take is D3. All my other results are fine and no other deficiencies.

I can only tolerate Flintstones multi vitamins, others make me so nauseated. Natural colorings, I believe, though they're not in front of me right now to check. No iron needed in general if you're postmenopausal, though your individual needs could be different.
I also take a hair, skin, and nails with biotin plus vit D.

melanell can you share which brand you bought/DH suggested? I'm interested in a vitamin without gelatin too. I haven't purchased any yet, but the website DH suggested was Vegetarian Vitamins The name is a bit of a misnomer, as they have vegan vitamins, too. I had forgotten that he used to take a multi-vitamin when he switched from being vegetarian to vegan. He wanted to be sure he was getting all the vitamins he should, and as he made the switch he thought it might be good to have a "back-up" so to speak.

I live in Michigan too which is like the cloudiest state in the union. Everybody is vitamin D deficient. So I need that too. I'm going to look and see what I can find. Thank you.
