Hi everyone! It's a cloudy gloomy day here after a rainy night but that's OK ... I don't go outside anyway! I'm doing some laundry and I'll take the garbage and recycling out later ... I might hit the store for bread if I feel ambitious. No other plans for the day ... Dinner is undecided ... I might invite a friend over ... depends if I feel like cooking! I posted this on Facebook today ... your dose of cute for Sunday! I LOVE Highland cows ... I have some decor items with them that I display sometimes ... How was your birthday celebration yesterday jeremysgirl? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody! ![]()

leannec, I love the Scottish cow. He's adorable. Enjoy today. ntsf, enjoy your day. jeremysgirl, how was your party? I hope that you had great fun. Dh and I have been packing, because we are sending our big suitcase ahead on Wed. I'm still tired, but much better than last month. I'm trying to set up my new tablet and it's rocket science. Either I'm getting old or technology is getting more complicated. Ods is coming home and dinner will be takeout. We never had the dinner we were going to have w/him a few days ago. Have a happy, restorative, fun day, my lovelies.

We just got back from a hike, we did a trail by our house in reverse. DH thinks it's not as strenuous. I think he's wrong. We did see a couple of cute cottontail bunnies. I'm happy with the progress in my craft room although it still looks like a tornado hit it. Baby steps! If I can find some decent steaks, that's what's for dinner. Compliments of the Queen aka jeremysgirl :

You can never have too much garlic, cadoodlebug. Though my mil hated garlic, which I never understood. Enjoy your day and your steak if you find good ones. Corn on the cob would be a great side dish, says she who eats vicariously through others.

cadoodlebug. My dad grew garlic, probably for the last 10 years of his life. It’s so easy to grow yourself and there’s so many different varieties. It’s amazing. We love garlic here. scrapmaven where are you headed on your cruise? Hopefully somewhere nice and warm. I hope you have a wonderful time

Good morning! We had a busy day yesterday moving my stuff from my old office into my new one. I will have a window into a courtyard that gets very pretty during the winter. Its nice and green now, but the winter is lovely. Although I'm not in my office as much during the winter since I teach from home in the spring semester. Still, it's a nice change and I'm having fun decorating. I need to get the computer situation set up, go thru some files and purge, and get stuff hung on the wall. I'm thrilled with it. I just want it to be warm and welcoming.
Today we planned to finish up at my mother's assisted living place but I am not moving furniture in the rain. It will wait til tomorrow. I may go over earlier in the day to finish the small stuff and vacuum, then when Nick gets off work we will load up the last of it and turn in her keys. I'm glad that part will be done.
We have had the most peaceful morning. Slept in a but, had a cup of coffee, did our puzzles together, and read a bit with the windows open. The only thing we hear us birds and rain, so good! We are getting ready to go have lunch. A gyros is on my mind. Then working on getting the house ready for a houseguest on Wednesday, my work bff who retired. We've planned it for weeks, long before my mother's death. She and my mother were the same age, though you'd never know it. We are more like sisters, but she has long since been a source of mothering when I've needed it. So this couldn't come at a better time, although houseguests and the prep work often stresses me out.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday.

christine58 , we're doing another Alaska cruise. Had to make it easy, since it's getting a bit harder for me to do things that were once easily done. I'm finally getting excited. Thank you. tmarschall , The neat thing about being an adult is that you get to choose your relationships. How are you doing? You deserve to have lots of unconditional love in your life.

Hi everyone! I had a really nice party. Everyone showed up and were fabulous. My mother did get mad at me but who cares? My sister made me a banana cake (my favorite) and it was vegan and delicious. I plan to eat it all day today. Sugar rush! We have had a bit of excitement this morning. My neighborhood has been overrun with groundhogs. The little buggers really like vegetables so as you can imagine they are unwelcome guests in our gardens. My neighbors dog got two in the past two weeks. We finally decided we needed to trap because we are worried about the dogs getting hurt. So we got this guy today and Jeremy is in the process of relocating him. He is not as cute as Neisey baby raccoon I'll be making kind of a salad for dinner. I'm roasting beets, carrots, sweet potatoes and onions. I'm also roasting chickpeas. I'll put everything on a bed of romaine and quinoa. And then I found a recipe for a chipotle pecan pesto. I'm just going to throw that on top.

tmarschall those kinds of women in our lives are invaluable. I went through some real shit during my parents divorce. My mother was...well she acted badly. I had an older woman I worked with who really stepped in and gave me the mothering I needed at that time. So I hope she is a real comfort to you right now.

jeremysgirl, that's a great photo of you w/your cake. FYI, you look great. The groundhog is so cute, but man can they be destructive. I hope he is happy in his new home. A note of advice about your mom. Dh gave me this advice about my dad. If you lower your expectations he'll always meet them. That was a game changer.

DH was power washing the front porch in preparation to reseal it with clear sealer. The weather was perfect for this task this morning. I figured he didn’t need any help so I went to the mall. My purpose was to buy jeans but I came home with a new shirt and pair of shoes. Both were purchased with gift cards so it didn’t cost me a cent!
The porch was finished when I got home and it looks so clean and a lighter colour. Tomorrow he will put the sealer in it. The next project will be the back deck. Walker will go to the kennel that day because that is the way he accesses the back yard so it will be difficult to have him here.
Supper will be rechauffe Cobb salad and Mac & cheese for me. DH will have Cheese Burger Macaroni Hamburger Helper.

Today I have BFF coming over today. Dad has a date today. I hope they go somewhere fun.
My gooey foot is dry again. The colour is much better which is nice. I have one antibiotic to take which I am happy about.
I love garlic but it can’t be fresh garlic because my stomach cannot handle it. I use process Japanese garlic and it’s delicious. My stomach is delicate (as is DS, mum and Granny’s).
I have fun week coming up. Backpacks is having a bbq and I am making karaage (Japanese chicken). I am. Asking tons so there will be enough for the kids for dinner too.
I hope everyone has a happy Sunday!

Dh installed the bidet we ordered about 6 weeks ago (that is not a criticism, we are in the middle of a bunch of home improvement projects). I havent used it yet, but I made him test out the settings. 😂😂 Dinner tonight will be Spicy Gochujang Noodles (spice cut in half) with shrimp and jalapeno poppers- ds has a jalapeno plant and gave us 2 of the early ones and then i supplemented with a few from the store. I dont like the flavor of jalapenos, but I will still try one. I was going to roast some vegetables or make squash from the garden, but the noodles have a lot of moving parts, so Im deferring the veggies until tomorrow. jeremysgirl I agree with the advice to lower your expectations where your mom is concerned. It took us a long time to get to that point with MIL, but now we just assume she will do the things she does and we just roll our eyes.

Happy Sunday! I got my hair done today which was much needed. I'm leaving on Thursday for vacation so I needed a refresh before I left. Glad your party went well jeremysgirl ! You deserve a nice celebrattion of your milestone! Dinner tonight will be something out of the freezer. I've got a ton of TJs meals that I need to use up before I go back on WW after vacation. Not sure what it will be but I have lots of options. Hope you all have a great day!

I promise you that it was a life changing moment when dh said that. My father went to his grave w/o ever changing and once I accepted that I was able to let a lot of things go. As an adult I learned how to stop him from screaming. I set strict boundaries and treated him like a teenager. He responded well to that. I forgave him on his deathbed and btw, I don't believe that you have to forgive anyone in order to have peace.

my dh heard that I was going for a hike, so he changed the plans.. and we went to a local trail up a creek (mostly in the shade) not too far away and I hiked 1.8 miles in my boots that still need to be punched out. oh well. chatted with some lovely people and not crowded at all.
so I think that is enough for the day and will try the gym tomorrow. I'll try taking the bus as dh is going to the town 70 miles south to do a bunch of errands.
cloudy and looks like thundershowers.

Dh installed the bidet we ordered about 6 weeks ago Most of the hotel rooms we have in Europe have a bidet. We've never used them for the intended use but I use them to wash out a few clothes as needed during the trips.

Well, today has really gotten away from me. I slept terribly last night so I decided to sleep in. Sounded good at the time but I wish I had just gotten up. I took a long walk trying to beat the rain but ended up getting soaked. I am working on some cards and reading a book. DH and I had plans to go to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for a night. Obviously, we have to change those plans so we are looking at where we can go and hike. You asked yesterday jeremysgirl about Cabo. I can't pinpoint what it was about the trip that made it a one and done for me. Where we stayed the beach was almost impossible to walk on and you couldn't get in the water because of the waves. I love long walks on the beach. It was fine, the people I was with were great. Now Vegas is a a different story. DH and I go every year with two other couples. The guys gamble and the women hang out at the pool. Last year I was in Vegas three times. Two were for business and one personal. leannec I am glad you have found peace.

We have leftover ramen noodles from the restaurant last night and I will have a tuna melt to go with otherwise I will be hungry later. The durned pills take make me famished af 10 pm and I snack. I am not even hungry but I am compelled as heck to eat. If I could quit the behaviour I would be so happy. The drug is wonderful and keeps me in a state of happiness. It’s hard to give that up. Meanwhile I am fat.
I hope everyone is having a great day!

Dear dinner friends, we need your prayers and good thoughts. Our darling Enzo is not well. Yesterday morning his O2 levels dropped and he was put into an isolette crib. They have taken blood and swab tests - no bacterial infection but we’re waiting on results for virus tests. The paediatrician they spoke to (weekend on call) said he thinks the problem is severe reflux, which would explain his feeding issues last week. Overnight, they had to increase the oxygen they were giving him. We are all very worried

sueg, prayers for little Enzo for sure. Hope they can get to the bottom of it and help him feel better soon. cadoodlebug, your meme is me, LOL - can never have too much garlic! jeremysgirl, what a fabulous picture of you with your cake! Happy belated birthday - glad it was a good celebration. We celebrated DH's birthday this weekend by going out to dinner. Neither DH nor I had a great day/week at work so dinner mood was a little less than festive. We tried to put it aside and redirect conversation elsewhere. I had to work this morning, so I'm extra tired...also now my stomach is not feeling well. I did a Costco run yesterday, laundry, and more errands today (short ones). So we'll probably have rechauffe for dinner, possibly restaurant leftovers.
