Ha, we've stayed at the Lodge at Hot Lake (Oregon's entry) a couple times - it's very close to a birding festival we've attended. It was lovely and not creepy at all!

This is an old list. The item from my state has been completely refurbished and reopened.

Never heard of the ones from my childhood state or my home state.
Another abandoned place from Pennsylvania is the Abandoned Turnpike outside Bedford/Breezewood. The film The Road was partially filmed on it.
We rode bikes with our friends a number of years ago. Weirdest ride ever. It had no visible incline/decline. Yet, it was work both ways. It felt as if you were traveling up hill. Both directions. Swore I would never go back. At this point, I would like to do it again. In part, do I remember it correctly? Mostly, it is peaceful and seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The pink road (2 lane) is close.

I've been to the New Mexico site. Eh. I didnt think it was scary. A fun fact though, is Texas and New Mexico fight over which state Glen Rio is in --- as it sits partially in both states. Also? Grapes of Wrath was partially filmed there, and you can also see the Glen Rio Filling Station in the movie Cars.
If I was picking the most eerie place in New Mexico, I'd pick the Hotel Ecklund in Clayton, NM.

I'm glad to see that the list included updates for mine: The Mount Moriah Cemetery. I'm so glad to hear that a group has formed and spent the last decade trying to help save this spot from complete ruin.

Some of the choices are odd. ...such as a zoo...

Some of the choices are odd. ...such as a zoo... I was just glad to see they picked something for PA other than Centralia for a change.

Gandini's Circus in Edmond is a very popular spot with the photography students from University of Central Oklahoma. The land owner lives in Florida per the article but I can attest to the grounds being mowed on a fairly regular schedule. Unkept grounds leads to lots of rodents then rattle or copperhead snakes. It is quite startling to see the derelict vehicles and what not with freshly mown ground. It is the juxtaposition of derelict and fresh upkeep that adds to the "haunted" feeling.
