Ugh! I only buy 12x12 patterned paper so dislike when the reverse happens: a pattern available in 6x8 is not also offered in 12x12. It seems offering all patterns by-the-sheet in both 6x8 & 12x12 would appeal to the most papercrafters. That makes me wonder who they are trying to target when they sell one set of designs in 6x8 and a different set in 12x12. Same; perhaps cardmaker (6x8) vs scrapbooker (12x12)? Every pattern available in both sizes would eliminate the guesswork & maximize profit on each design.

...I also noticed on ACOT that 49& Mkt does not allow their products to be discounted. That’s a bummer since they are so highly priced. ... I do not like 49&Market says no discounts on their things. ... ... Not liking this new policy of 49 and market. ... ... The no discounts rule is ridiculous IMHO. ... It looks like the no discounts is for the first 30 days the item is available. I still don't like it. It appears the company's new "no discount" policy for pre-orders + the first 30 days of availability has not been well-received by consumers!

Do you think this is to protect the smaller outlets who can’t afford loss leaders? Perhaps this new policy is in response to feedback from smaller retailers, since it evens the playing field for the first 30 days to encourage LSSs & smaller online retailers to carry 49&M products. Prior to this new policy, 49&M products could be pre-ordered &/or bought (once in stock) at a discount with large-volume retailers' frequent sales/offers. Smaller retailers may have opted not to even carry 49&M products, especially if the company has high minimums, for fear of being stuck with (relatively higher priced) inventory that may not turnover (without a comparable discount that may result in a loss) when the space could be occupied by products from brands that are proven sellers/profitable in their market.

There are going to be those who fall in love with a line and want everything no matter what, and they'll buy it at full price. But there will also be those who look at it and think "It's nice. It could be useful." but who do not feel compelled to have it. And those people I imagine are the ones who will might wait out that time period. But then if they wait it out, and find that too many elements have sold out, they may just opt out of buying it at all, kwim? So I guess time will tell if 49 & Market has enough of the "must buy it now" fans to make this work for them. Agree. This new policy presumes the company has diehard fans who do/will buy all/most of its products immediately AND at full price during an uncertain economy. If discounts at large retailers on pre-orders &/or purchases were the reason some of these customers were/could be diehard fans, they may no longer buy as many - or even any - 49&M products from large OR small retailers. Instead, the risk is too many of these customers may choose to continue using such discounts but shift their loyalty & spend their budget on entire collections from (an)other brand(s) (e.g. Arden Creative Studio, where Katie Periet - who likely designed previous 49&M collections that made them fans of 49&M - is now a designer).

49 and Market usually did not have a very long pre-order period in the first place, so I'm not sure if pre-order discounts were a problem (the items listed at the top of this thread are already for sale (not pre-order) at ACOT.
My Localish Scrap Store (it's a chain but they recently closed three stores, so there are only two or three left) sells 40 and Market for more than $1.49 per sheet (I think it was $1.99ish) and then I'd find a whole lot of it on the clearance rack for cheap...
I guess we'll see what happens.

If a regional craft chain has to deeply discount 49&M products, it’s not surprising that smaller retailers would be hesitant to stock 49&M products due to concerns (financial, space, etc.) about inventory turnover. Perhaps this new policy will enable more small retailers to stock 49&M products & give its customers more shopping options.

Thanks for your responses. I'm not the target audience, so nothing is added to my wish list.

I think I found the line I will buy this year!! (Mistletoe)
While I really like SS Candy holiday line, it's just too pink for me and I love pink.
No other lines have spoken to me.
What I love is the neutral papers. They aren't busy with all these icons. I can alter or add what I want myself.

I used my Cherry Points and used the free shipping code on my order of Mistletoe products.
So yes those can be used.
I will say I think I am tired of all the same icons used year after year. Sometimes I just want a solid paper with minimal stuff on it to build up on. And that is what this line offers. I also like that the embellishments aren't the usual icons too. And the Santa is really nice. I love a good classic Santa.

Update in an email from ACOT. I’m glad they changed this policy:
**49 And Market Promo Update** Many of you have noticed and contacted us about promo codes not working on 49 and Market products over the past few weeks. 49 and Market recently began asking that retailers do not provide any discounts on their products for at least the first 30 days after release, and we've been following that policy to support the brand. We understand that this has been frustrating and we're happy to let you know that the policy has been revised and discounts are now permitted via storewide sales. Effective immediately, all of our regular promo codes will once again work for all 49 and Market products, including the new Mistletoe and Memories and Botanical Buzz lines. Thanks for your understanding during this time and happy crafting!

I received my order (birthday gift from DH) and wow do the embellishment packs contain a lot of pieces. I have never bought 49 & Market so unfamiliar with their paper and embellishment packs. The paper is a nice weight and I love the various sizes of the ephemera.
I also like the variety between the paper pads and then single papers.
And if you do DD, some of the ephemera would be perfect for your project. I got a door that opens, a snow globe I can decorate, pockets, etc.
