A while back someone here gave me a recommendation for a weekend bag that worked out great…
Now I’m looking for a recommendation for a somewhat large travel toiletry bag that can hold serums, brushes, make up etc - thanks in advance!

I am not sure that this will work or what you are looking for (as I don’t really have makeups and brushes etc) but I have an LLBean one that I love. LLBEan toiletry bag

I am not sure that this will work or what you are looking for (as I don’t really have makeups and brushes etc) but I have an LLBean one that I love. LLBEan toiletry bagMine looks almost exactly like this one, but I bought it in Seoul 25 years ago. It still looks brand new and washes well if there is a spill. However, if I'm tight on space, I will instead use several smaller bags. The big bag collapses down well in the areas where it isn't full, but it takes up a pretty good chunk of space. When my bag is full, it's easier to tuck smaller bags into empty corners. For those, I have a random collection that I've picked up over the years. When they all match, it's harder to know what bag has my cosmetics, skin care, or hair stuff in it. This is similar to the bag that I use for my makeup, but mine is the brand Five Star and was supposed to be used for school. I like that it rolls up to protect the brushes. I use some of the brush slots for mascara, concealer, eyeliner, etc. www.amazon.com/Organizer-Cosmetic-Portable-Storage-Essentials/dp/B08P26W6XH/ref=sr_1_34?crid=30PUSLP1A0RZ0&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.B4beIbGmo8rDdNEjrnAUj0CvtH6NCwJ49pUG5fWG86jOs8av4vd1-vHuGaZktZN3XETAO-GNuCbaqzd3ri8VA8vanp7Y7tlduaxNYUAlLCHF6h7wvPPtzEM0zNT9Wx6xTZ-E3KLNRalzNAsIugEY9vsWKEIjC2A0Yi6KDlii0b_rNqmXkscPVIt6W3b24vQMqVLh2W6MKdgy_0DbEXts4hCW9fyGGeqj_lqdlTI9JZQw4iiqYCRkV7uF8b4vjBsNJbMa1ETbRwpi6StXwWmxrbjeyeXunGRIeMMzeOTqXNo.oFKFMNnPWpxuCwedKgT0xraHAe-PsmCT2mhyQSW9ZTQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=roll+up+makeup+bag+for+travel&qid=1753990405&sprefix=roll+upmakeup+bag%2Caps%2C451&sr=8-34

The problem is I'm often packing to fly somewhere. And then I need the clear bag for security clearance purposes.
I pack very differently for road trips than I do for air travel.
For road trips, I have two monogrammed zipper bags -- one for makeup and one for general health & beauty products. I got them both at a little boutique store in town that does custom personalization.
-------------
Edited to add:
I have two of those roll-up style bags (that are designed to hang up) for travel that I received as gifts. They are both still in the gift boxes. It's just not the way I like I like to organize my products for travel.

I saw one promoted on the Today Show. It has a lighted mirror and moveable foam dividers. More for makeup than shampoo type things. It's the Momira Makeup Train Case on Amazon. Link isn't working, sorry.
We gave my MIL one of the LL Bean hanging cases years ago. They travel a lot and it has held up very well.

I have several different style toiletry bags from LUG that I love. Which one I use depends on the trip and whether I am flying or driving.

For road trips I love my fabric tackle box bag I got at Walmart! It came with several plastic organizers that I use elsewhere. This left me with a large central compartment (about 8in long x 5in deep and 6 in tall) plus two side and 1 front pocket.
I'm still trying to figure out my air travel bag. I just got a new one at Aldi last month.

We do road trips and ours is really big, it’s a previous version of this one. I don’t keep makeup in there but you could if you don’t take as much as we do. So, pretty much everyone. I’d put my brushes in a rolled-up bag and products in a separate bag so it can easily be removed and used anywhere in the hotel room. I’ll make another post with that information. In one of the big clear compartments we keep our at the sink products, most are travel sized. Includes tooth care (2 brushes, 2 travel toothpaste, 1 Rx toothpaste, 3.? oz Listerine, floss), face products (miceller water, oil cleaner, cleaner, toner, serum, eye cream, lotion, after sun lotion & couple masks, eye masks, chemical exfoliant), deodorant, perfume, if not a full sized product for each of us, big toothed comb, couple of hair products and a big hair cap to put on before I shower. Plus body lotion which is sometimes full sized. I’m sure there’s more but off the top of my head that’s all and you can see quite a lot fits in each section. In the other big clear compartment are our in the shower products, some are travel sized. That includes a medium sized shower poof, 2 (4 oz) shampoos & a conditioner, big toothed comb, small & back exfoliating cloths, face soap, body soap in a 4oz foam container, rasor in case & shaving gel. I love that they’re kept separate so on those grab a shower and go mornings we don’t have to spend much time drying everything off, especially the poof and exfoliating cloths. As you can see there are a couple of duplicated products but I like that because DH can immediately empty everything into the shower and also the sink area without mixing anything up . And later I won’t have to climb into the shower to grab the face soap or comb. We wear shoes in hotel rooms and I don’t want to get them wet or the shower dirty. In the detachable small compartment I keep products for my cycle so I can easily keep them together by the toilet. In the other small compartment, mine is clear, I keep those just in case items like tweezers, glass nail file, sewing kit, lint remover, stain remover, small bottle laundry detergent and a few other things. We rarely need this but when we do it’s a lifesaver. Our version also has a good sized zipable pocket on the outside where I add more feminine hygiene supplies when I’m on or expecting my cycle, usually it holds a shower mirror and extra face/eye masks and anything I don’t usually pack.

Another vote for LLBean. They are functional and last forever. It's my go to college graduation gift.

This bag holds all of my make-up and tools and I just grab it when we are going somewhere. I can also easily fit a hard baby-wipes case, which is so helpful. If you have a lot of brushes you’d probably want to include a roll, which would easily fit. But mine (including heated lash curler and regular) easily fit in the clear zippered compartment and long side pocket with roof or more. What I love about it: Holds everything, opens flat but the design allows it to not take too much space. The light colored inside makes finding everything so much easier. Straps for holding lipstick though I wish there were many more. Lots of compartments for keeping everything organized. What I don’t like about it: I can’t emphasize this enough, I hate that not all middle sections are attached at the bottom because things switch compartments under them. The worst culprit is the one with the lipstick holders. They can also go above but the baby wipes case prevents a lot of that. And I’d like more lipstick holders. So I’m on the hunt for a new one that addresses these issues. Does anyone else use a bag like this that they love?

Yet another vote for the LLBean one. I have both a medium and a large. I use one or the other depending on the length of the trip. They've held up great and are washable. DS and DD2 each have the small size and they're perfect for their solo travels. DD1 (married with a 3-YO) has other needs LOL so they use more of a family-type bag.
I will say that as great as the LLBean bag is for toiletries and shower/bathroom stuff, I do use a separate bag strictly for makeup. I have several I switch off between. I'm still looking for the perfect unicorn makeup bag to replace an old 31 makeup case that they don't even make any more. I like all of the ones I've been using but my favorite is the old nearly worn-out 31 case.

I love this one by Bagsmart. The double zippers on top mean you can really see inside. I like that everything stand vertically, less digging. I like the two outside pockets for smaller things and flat things. a.co/d/0lMDfKg
