Good Morning, Wow. Did I miss this tribe. Thank you, once again to cadoodlebug for doing a spectacular job with the thread. leannec , how is your mom? I've been concerned about you. Tearisci , how are things going? Do you need anything from us? naby64 , have a great trip. Don't forget to unpack the dog(see my last post yesterday.) May this weekend be fun, relaxing and for those in need may it be calm and may you find solace in loved ones.

Don't forget to unpack the dog(see my last post yesterday.) LMAO! Your sense of humor was missed. leannec and Tearisci I am hoping for an update from the two of you today. I know we are all anxious to make sure you both are alright. I'm "working" today. Basically what this means is I'm responding to emails. I got all of my to do list done by 10 am. I might read. I have two books going right now. One fiction and one non-fiction. I will be having dinner with Chloe tonight. It will be sushi. I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks. And she's had a lot going on. I'm going to listen to her and if she wants I'll give advice. But I'm not getting involved. I know that there are some people who judge me for keeping my distance but I just have to for my own peace of mind. And lord knows she makes me want to smoke and chew my nails off.

Don't forget to unpack the dog Yes ma'am, I did see that earlier and snickered. I got quite the earful as I was leaving the house this morning. One ate her breakfast and the other did not. But the dog bag was packed with food and bowls this morning. I also put their necklaces on this morning which prompted quite the husky song. My younger dog usually does not howl, bark or whine but her big brother has been teaching her bad things. So he howled and she whined as I was leaving. I promised them I would be back and I was not leaving them. So with that in mind, I doubt I will forget to unpack "them". The only thing I know that will be eaten today is the Chantilly cake I am picking up. I have no idea what dinner will be. Unless the birthday girl has decided we go to the place where she wanted to go last night but didn't. It's a place downtown and I don't know how Friday nights are there. Saturday lunches get pretty busy. They make their own lemonade and have so many different flavors to choose from. So I may try to push that. jeremysgirl you will not get judgement from me. I do the same but with my mother. I got judgement from my own DH with that one. But I know why and I know what is best for me. As do you. I hope you enjoy your dinner.

naby64, dogs know how to manipulate their owners just like cats. My Russian blue kitty is finally being snuggly and lovable today. The guy in my avatar is still being aloof. He refuses to let me pet him or talk to him. I had the nerve to leave him. Oh, the humanity...Have a great birthday visit w/your daughter and feel free to share the Chantilly cake w/the tribe. jeremysgirl, you'll get no judgement from me. You've set healthy boundaries with your daughter and you don't enable her behavior. That's called good parenting. You're there when she wants to get it together, but you don't support the dysfunction. That's what she needs. I'm always so very impressed w/your parenting skills.

Thinking of Tearisci and leannec and their moms today. Totally understand, jeremysgirl, and no judgment here. My son is my problem child and sometimes you just have to protect your own mental health. Besides, always remember, catering to them changes nothing. Today is the hottest day of our heat wave ( cadoodlebug has it worse) and so dinner will be taco salad. If I can get myself to the grocery store, because there’s currently no lettuce here. I have everything else, including heirloom tomatoes from the gentleman friend’s garden. Can’t wait to dig into those.

Thinking of leannec and her mom today. Mom is about the same as yesterday. The aide came in this morning to change her gown and bedding. While she was doing that, she was kind of manhandling her, and mom was grunting and groaning. She opened her eyes briefly but then went back to being non-responsive. I hope that's just normal. We want her to be at peace and let go. My sister stayed down with her last night, and we're tag-teaming mom and dad, so they both have coverage. Thanks for all of your good thoughts and prayers. They mean a lot.

It's a south Louisiana cake. I first heard of it at Whole Foods. They sell a large one and a mini one. About a year or so ago, they stopped selling it. I believe there was huge public outcry and I noticed the last time I was in there, they had it back. In the meantime, during it's absence we found it at Sam's. Today it will be a pick up at Sam's. It is just so refreshing and light tasting. Perfect for summer. Whole Foods discussion on the cake The 8 inch is $40. They have a baby cake which is 4 inches. It is $14. Seems they used to have a 6 inch but I don't see it now. This is the version from Sam's.

Tearisci, let me reassure you that you'll heal from this. My sister and I took care of our critically ill dad (heart attack while mom was dying) and our mom in a coma. Looking back, my sister and I got through it together. We were able to handle it and you will handle it, as well. Does it feel like you're in a bubble and the outside just doesn't exist today? That will subside and you will get through this. (((((HUGS)))).

We just got back from swimming. The pool was packed as everyone from the later class wanted to do AquaFit early. DH and I will be going to see The Naked Gun this afternoon. I will also be making pralines for a pool party we're going to tomorrow. (Only the kids get in the pool but I will sit at the edge with my feet in the water because it will be over 100°!) Dinner will be Sloppy Joe's tonight. jeremysgirl no judgement from me either ~ you're a great mom. naby64 have a fun trip. Tearisci keeping y'all in my thoughts. scrapmaven, no thanks needed, it is an honor to start the thread for these lovely ladies (and don when he joins us.) TGIF! My butter this morning looks like a happy, naked man!

Thinking of both Tearisci and leannec. jeremysgirl no judgement here. I have to do the same with DD. I love her but... naby64 have a great trip. This morning was the last of my meeting with my employees. I took the rest of the day off. I am working on some cards, doing laundry and just some general tidying up. DH and I are going to another concert tonight. This time with another couple. It is hot today so it won't be as comfortable as last weeks concert.

Since I have no meetings, Fridays are my busiest workday because I can get things done! Looking forward to just resting this weekend, and after a week of good, healthy foods, I think we are going to just eat a bunch of fried junk for dinner. Either that or something chilled because we are under another heat advisory.

She was amazing and, by the end of the massage, she had you swaddled in a warm blanket. I truly told her I would like her to come to my hotel room down the hall and put me to bed. We all tried to be the last massage of the night!

My son and DIL love this and it is their go-to dessert for get togethers. We had it for DS birthday last week. I did not know the official name of it - it’s always “Ooooooh, yes, that delicious cake from Sam’s with the fruit on top!” It IS so good!

We have another multi day heat event happening here. The temps are in the mid 30’s C for the next few days.
Of course, in the middle of this heat, the two oldest grandboys are having their season end baseball tournaments. I’m going with DS with the oldest grandboy tonight to his game out of town and DDIL will take the other grandboy to his game in town. Then they both play 3 games tomorrow in different locations. It will be hot even watching them play.
I took my mom to a local sunflower field today. We took some pictures and then each of us got a sunflower to bring home. There are a few fields planted with sunflowers around here this year. They are being used as a fundraiser in memory of a little boy who died of cancer. The donations go towards helping other families with costs associated with cancer treatments.
DH will be in his own for supper tonight since I’ll be at the ball game. We will probably lay stop on the way home and grab some takeout.

Thinking of leannec and her mom today. Tearisci and leannec...Thinking of both of you (((HUGS))) The update on my mum is that she called me last night and this morning! She is talking! I'm so relieved! She was really mixed up last night ... it was 10pm but she thought it was 10am ... it was Thursday but she thought it was Monday ... some of her words didn't make sense ... by today things were better ... not perfect but better! Of course, this stroke has affected the progress on her hip replacement ... I am hoping they will get her out of bed today ... Thank you so much everyone for thinking of us! I had an Amazing massage from my gal Fiona this morning.....I just wanted to come home and go to bed Last summer I took my dd's on a "staycation" at a fancy hotel here and we did a morning of treatments at the spa ... I literally slept through the entire thing! It was an expensive nap!

The update on my mum is that she called me last night and this morning! She is talking! I'm so relieved! This such good news. I know you were so worried. Hopefully they were able to catch it quick (there is some kind of stroke medicine that can help within like 4 hours or something) and she will need minimal rehab.

I want that cake RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! jeremysgirl .....I'm glad for you that you have those boundaries with Chloe! Speaking of complicated relationships----recently, you said your Mom was mad at you for bringing veggie-based food to a gathering, or just requesting some beans or something? I felt so bad for you! ..... Her dismissal and meanness to you reminded me of when she allowed Chloe to drink at a family gathering. I still can't believe a loving grandma would do that. (( hugs !!)) I recently had to do that boundary-setting thAng with my sister, and whoa---it was HARD! I've been a people-pleaser my entire life, and being more assertive with people literally makes my hands shake and stomach burn....yikes! But I have so much PEACE now, re: my annoying sister. When I think back to all the gaslighting, manipulating, etc. etc. etc...omg! Many years ago, my brother said she "states her OPINION as FACT" Yes, yes she does! tearisci leannec Tearisci leannec And anyone else who needs one:

cadoodlebug ....LOL at the butter scrapmaven and stormsts...I commmented/ asked some questions to you on yesterday's thread, but you probably didn't see them, since I posted around 3 am. The aide came in this morning to change her gown and bedding. While she was doing that, she was kind of manhandling her, Ugh, I've seen that too many times! Did anyone ask the aide to be more gentle? You can always call whoever's in charge of aides at the hospice and ask them if they have a different aide, too. (I realize they may not, since everyone is understaffed with aides, nurses, etc. etc.)
