Do you have ready access to shwarma joints where you live? no - I've never actually seen one in the States, just in the UK We have tons of them where I live and more are popping up all the time.

Tearisci. I am so sorry. I’m glad you were there with her. And you’re right she is at peace now.

ntsf , Weird Al and I used to shop at the same electronics store in the 80's. He dressed the same way in public. I never talked to him, but he always looked serious. Did you see "Weird: The Al Yankovich Story"? It starred Daniel Radcliffe and Rainn Wilson. It was on Hulu. Rainn Wilson played Dr. Demento who had lots of fun songs on his Sunday night radio show. I was an avid listener.

Tearisci, I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. ((Hugs to you, your Dad and family.)) I'm glad that her passing was peaceful and that you were with her. jeremysgirl, your dinner looks (and sounds) really good! I drove up to the area near where I used to live to meet up with some friends for a nice long girls chat and dinner! It was lovely and a well-needed get-together. The earlier part of the day was a bit of pampering for me. I had a hair salon appointment that had been rescheduled from 2 weeks ago when I was too sick with covid to go, so my hair feels (and looks) lots better! And after that I had an overdue pedicure, so my toes feel good too! DH drove up to visit with his mom and had a nice time going through photos with her. I would have liked to go - but my mid-day hair appointment would not have worked with fitting in a MIL visit, then getting back to where I was meeting my friends for dinner. I'm glad he had a nice visit with her though and got lots of good photo info/memories/stories.

Tearisci .....Many (( hugs )) but so happy your Mom's at peace! I know it's so sad to see your Dad's mourning, but so glad he has all of his children, pastor, etc. Also---unless it's changed, hospices will keep up with / support your Dad and family for at least a year. leannec ....I just LOVE that your Mom was her usual talkative self! I'm wondering if she had what's called a "TIA" (transient ischemic attack) / some call it a "mini-stroke" which are not (usually) serious; but obviously they'll want to prevent further ones to avoid a more serious stroke (aka "CVA" (cerebral vascular accident). ( I'm telling you the longgg, drawn-out medical terms in case the doctors/ nurses say them very quickly and you'll be wondering what foreign language they're saying. I hate it when medical people forget to use laymen's terms when they're speaking to non-medical people). With her healing from her hip fracture too, I hope they're medicating her pain sufficiently and getting her up to walk several times per day. It is VERY important for her to move (also, when in bed, they can teach her exercises) to prevent blood clots, skin breakdown, helps her lungs, and walking also helps her digestive system). I hope she has excellent nurses! Hopefully she'll also have a lot of excellent rehab! (physical therapy, and possibly occupational therapy). jeremysgirl .....Your dinner looks SO yummy! All the colorsssss, and sooo healthy!
