I think I'm gonna run up to Target and do a pickup and also stop at Sprouts. i was going to go yesterday, but power was out and I didn't want to make dh manually open the garage. It's another roaster today. Driving outside in the air conditioned car sounds good.

Dh is having rechauffe for dinner.

scrapmaven , we're having a toaster day for at least 2 more days before a bit of a cooling off period. DH and I walked this morning and just got home.

Tearisci thinking about you today. I know it will take time to find your new normal, especially for your dad. Do they have senior centers in your area where he could find people with mutual interests?

The summer pool party was great yesterday. There were about 40-45 people and only 4 kids so a lot of us got in the pool. Unfortunately the water wasn't very cold but at least it was wet. I took large boiled shrimp and cut watermelon and the shrimp was gone in a flash. Poor DH didn't get even one! We were at the party from 4 until 9 and it had only cooled down to about 94° when we left.

Dinner will be Chinese Chicken Salad.

I still have a quarter-sized scar on my left knee!

I couldn't get to sleep last night til way too late. but did sleep in. today is packing day. I am going swimming, and working out at the gym. and do laundry and so on. we will leave at 6 am tomorrow morning.

the list of stuff I need to do at home grows longer and longer.

last night I had 1/2 slice of toast and some cheese for dinner. tonight is another mystery.. but likely will go out to dinner.

What I did when I got the scar on my knee was stupid. I was in 7th grade and we lived in Navy housing. There was a playground with big swings and a huge metal slide (remember those?) Anyway, on the downswing we would position our arms in front of the chains so we would be ready to jump out. Unfortunately, I lost my balance and my knees were dragged across the gravel. Big ouch. Had to go to the base doctor to get it cleaned out. At least I never broke a bone while I was a kid!

Dinner tonight is the enchiladas I didn't make the other night because apparently when I ask 'are there tortillas?' I need to ask HOW MANY because 2 is not enough for enchiladas, lol

I am headed out to afternoon tea with my sister and her friend in a couple of hours. It’s usually super high carb, so dinner will be something protein and veggie … quite possibly MORE taco salad, minus the chips.

Dinner is going to be some kind of chicken, as yet undecided. But I'll be heading to Wegman's in a little while so maybe I'll get some inspiration while I'm there.

Last night's dinner with friends was so much fun. We all have fairly busy schedules so we try and capture time together when we can, as we need our girlfriend time!

DH had an online interview on Thursday late afternoon (4 PM) and thought it went pretty well. That goober of a husband in his job interview said that if he were the successful candidate that it wouldn't just be him moving up, it would also be Bess and me. "Notice how I mentioned the cat first," he says. And apparently they laughed so much. 😂

Fast forward to about 11 AM on Friday and he's got an offer for an in-person interview, so we will be headed up tomorrow morning/afternoon after he has a dentist appointment and we drop off Bessie at the cat hotel. His interview is on Tuesday morning and he'll be meeting with the committee, a group of deans, some of their student services staff, and a provost.

We went to a Tracy Lawrence concert on Friday, had a mostly lazy day yesterday, and I'll start on some laundry soon.

rymeswithpurple, having to choose btwn 2 jobs is the way to go. I hope that your dh is offered both jobs.

Tearisci, after the memorial, if there is one then you might want to talk to your sibs about taking your dad to do something fun for all of you. The distraction might be good for him and even for all of you. Whether it's a trip to the casino or a little getaway you all need a huge breather. WDYT? Right now, you're all still in a whirlwind.

rymeswithpurple.. it is so good to see that he is getting interviews.. with such a challenging labor market. I'm hoping one will work out for you both.

Dh and ds golfed today while i went to help my mom out with a few things.
Dinner was bacon cheeseburgers, pasta salads, and local corn, cukes and tomoatoes. We are finally seeing some local produce!

ntsf Thank you! I am very proud of him. He's been in higher ed for 12+ years, and he's definitely ready to move up on the ladder. He's been in supporting roles, and I'd love to see him learn more, teach others what he's learned, and continue to grow professionally.

Everyone seemed to like the chocolate cinnamon rolls so I took one taste. Yuck! Like major yuck. I couldn't have eaten a whole one if I tried.

My cinnamon rolling skills need practice. I cut them with a pizza wheel. 😂 And clearly I need to pinch the ends.
