In November a group of 6 of us (3 couples) are doing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge run-but we are walking it. All of us are in our 50s and have known each other since the 90s! Talking to my friend we decided to make a playlist and have a small speaker to help keep us motivated as we hike across! The idea is to have fun upbeat songs that “everyone knows” so that other people can sing along if they want. We are not planning on “blasting” anything, but playing it just to keep us going. We love 80s and 80s alternative but want a fun mix. Ideas so far: Melt with You American Girl 9 to 5 Only you Hootie Matchbox 20 Erasure Depeche Mode Duran Duran Dixie Chicks 10,000 maniacs Shaboozey Benson Boone BNL Cher Would love to hear your ideas and if you have done something like this.

Google 90's playlist and see what they suggest.

What fun! I’d include Tears for Fears, probably Everybody Wants to Rule the World or Head Over Heels. 867-5309, Jesse’s Girl, that Soft Cell song, Walking on Sunshine (KC and the Sunshine Band). Rick Astley, Whitney Houston. ETA: DH and I are kinda dorks, and when we do car trips we like songs that relate to what we’re doing or where we’re going. Our next long road trip is baseball centered (even though I hope to be attending a scrapbook convention ) so songs like Centerfield, and the band The Outfield. Oh, include Your Love everyone always sings along to that one. I don’t know enough about MD to be able to pick relevant songs for location, but Walking on Sunshine is perfect for your walk. Walk This Way would be great too.

REM. My kids added them to a playlist recently, I'd forgotten they existed

My favorite 80's song is Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go".

Journey's Don't Stop Believin - I was recently at a wedding and amazed at how many 20-somethings were belting out this song.
I'd definitely include some Jimmy Buffett.
Sounds like fun!

I wouldn't say that everybody knows this song, but it otherwise fits your criteria, is catchy, and is even theme appropriate--"I Walk the Earth" by Voice of the Beehive. youtu.be/OyPBelndOpk?si=NBsqqF4x-udPiNkV"We Got the Beat"--The Go Go's "Walk Like an Egyptian"--The Bangles "Break My Stride"--Matthew Wilder "Walking in L.A "--Missing Persons I guess I'm a little hung up on the walking theme. 😄

Call Your Girlfriend by Robyn would definitely be in that category for me. It’s more current but I have recently found out that I can sing along to all the words in Pink Pony Club - that happened this morning.
