I get sooooo tired around 3-4pm, each and every day it seems like. Pretty sure if I just stopped I could totally fall asleep. My kids nap until 3:30ish and then are rearing to go when all I want to do is take a snooze.
I've never been one for taking naps, so I just push through the half asleep feeling and then around 5pm, I perk up.
What do you do for an afternoon pick me up? I drink coffee (usually get one most mornings from our local coffee shop), but I don't own a coffee maker so I can't make any for the afternoon. Been really thinking about buying one though!!
Thanks ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

I do. And I nap when I can. I would nap when your kids nap.

I get that way, too. I give in to it and take a nap. My kids are old enough that they can occupy themselves so it's not an issue. Sometimes I push through it but I find naps to be a wonderful gift to myself.

I'm not tired then ![](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I can't even remember the last time I have napped. Probably when my two year old was a newborn.

Not any more.
Vitamin D from the doctor ( cause I was too low ) and eating more often, less amounts and less sugar.
Oh and if I need a pick mr up I move a bit and do deep breathing, ( ie dance for a song or if that to wild lunges will do ) the blood pumping ad oxygen wakes u up.

I get tired enough for a nap mostly on days when I can take a nap. I think it's because I know I can.

I do and if I'm home, like today, I will sometimes nap. Also exercise wakes me up and energizes me but usually I pick nap, lol.

I find that I hit a wall about the same time. My problem is I stay up way too late. A 15 - 20 minute power nap helps. I should go to bed earlier.

That's totally me. Now that my kids are teens, I am a lot more likely to indulge myself and take a nap.
Caffeine has no effect on me since I drink it constantly. You know how some people keep a glass of water on the nightstand? On mine you'll find a bottle of Brisk.

I work in a school so yes, sometimes about 4pm I could just zonk out! Feeling that way more & more often as we get nearer to the end of the year. How do I get through it? Push myself to get on, cook dinner, whatever - it usually passes.

I try to go for a walk everyday during my lunch time, when I don't I get very sleepy. A little exercise helps a lot.

Every day at 2 pm I get really tired. It doesn't seem to matter where I am or what I'm doing I will get very sleepy and if I check the time...sure enough it's 2 pm. On the weekends I totally nap, it's great!

Make sure your lunch is high in protein and low in simple carbs like bread, potatoes or sweets.

I used to. I would just hit the wall at about 3:30 every day. It turned out to be my allergy meds. Doc advised to take them at a different time of day and that made all the difference.

Not always, but when I am, I take a nap!

yes. Sitting at a computer at work most of the day makes me want to fall asleep late afternoon. I try to get out for a power walk and that wakes me up. When I'm home I'll take a nap which helps too (even in college I'd take a 10-15 min catnap and feel much better).

I don't know if you are familiar with ultradian/circadian rhythms, but the period between 3 and 4 am and 3 and 4 pm is the body's lowest point of functioning. It tells us to rest, but we don't.
Some years ago, I went to a week long training given by the FBI, and the bulk of the training was on having us understand these rhythms in our work with people.
You may find it very interesting to read, but basically, if you can give in to a nap, do it.
I love naps. They are one of my favorite things.

I'm fortunate enough to work from home, so I pretty much nap every afternoon. I find it's the only way I can make it through that 5-7 pm part of the day. I'm naturally a night owl anyway. My body just wants to be up at 1 am and sleeping at 9, so maybe if I could adjust that I wouldn't feel I need the nap so much.

I get sleepy around 2:00, if I'm at home I take a short nap. If it's to long I feel worse.

Yes! Everyday around 3-4 I am so tired I could easily fall asleep. Unfortunately I am usually at work and can't nap so I just power through! Although I did doze off for a few minutes today after eating lasagna for lunch! Just couldn't keep my eyes open!

Yes, 3 to 4 is nap time. I blame the dogs, for the last few months they have this need to go out at 5:30am so by 3 I'm like the walking dead.

By the time 4 rolls around around, I have been up most days since 5:30 and that is already a whole day with no end in sight. ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Ivm7lm0DayrhoRpwvCeH.jpg) If I can rest for a few minutes, I do. I am the queen of the power nap. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)

Good info guys and I'm glad that I am not alone!
I've never been one to nap and if I were, it would be for a couple of hours. No catnaps for me. Makes me too groggy!

Cortisol (stress hormone) level is at its lowest around 3-4pm and highest around 8 am. It's your body's way of telling you to slow down in the afternoon. My cortisol level was low a couple of years ago and I had to have blood drawn for a few days at those morning and afternoon times.
