i didn't scrap much at all over the last 6 weeks or so what with the holidays and the end of school mayhem. Whenever we put up our Christmas Tree I have to move my scrap stuff out of the lounge room which makes me unlikely to scrap.
I am desperate to scrap, but I feel so off. I got a Selphy for Christmas (thanks Mother in Law!) so I can even print out whatever photo I want! I have some gorgeous new beach pictures from a couple of weeks ago of my littlest girl I am dying to scrap! I even went so far as to get my hands on a super old October Afternoon beach collection (Seaside) because I knew it would be perfect for these pictures. I should have everything I need...and...nothing! I even went so far as to look at a sketch and I rarely use sketches because they almost always just annoy me and make my pages take longer!
Not sure what to do, I am almost about to scrap something I don't care about much just to get the inevitable getting back into the groove of things layout out of the way.
Anyone else having trouble getting started again after the holidays?

Yes! I had huge plans of getting a bunch done over the two week break. I shopped a lot, but I didn't scrap much. I even made myself a list because that usually gets me motivated. Not so much. I think I just put too much on my plate to finish by May and feel overwhelmed when I go in my room. One of the things I have to do is make 25 memory books for my class. It sounded great this summer before I started actually working.

I hate when that happens. It has been so long since I scrapped. I was getting excited to scrap some rare snow photos - it never snows here and I was thrilled and can't wait to print them and scrap but now that I know I am going to a crop I just can't get motivated to get my stuff together. I also want a make a layout about some of my favorite things right now - I have been thinking about it for a month and now nothing - urg. I hope that all of us can find whatever it is we need to get motivated and scrapping again. I know that when I actually scrap I feel much better about everything else.
950Nancy - I know when I have a project like that - well never one that big but I had several to make for Christmas it just seems to suck the life out of me and I just don't feel like scrapping for a while. I am horrible at actually starting - not so bad once I start but getting started is the hardest. It usually takes me a month or two to recover and be able to feel creative again. I don't do well under pressure when it is something that requires creativity. Good luck I hope you can finish them soon so you can enjoy your own projects.

Yeah, me too. My biggest problem is my pre-Christmas computer crash. I have all my photos, but lost photoshop and cannot get it to reinstall so I can't edit my new photos to get printed (I tweak a bit and put 2 3x4's on a 4x6...) So I'm behind to September. And it's making me feel like a piece of my scrappy puzzle is missing!
Also, my scrap space is away from family and family areas, and I'm quite used to constant company right now over Christmas. I feel lonely in the basement!

Yes. I have struggled to scrap for awhile now. However, it's not the first time I have had a scrapping break and struggled to scrap again. Mostly I just have to make myself sit down and actually play with the papers and pictures. It doesn't come back automatically. I have to work to get it back. Once I make myself try, the creativity usually returns.

Sorry about your creative slump, I hate when that happens. I was determined to get my December album completed, now that's it's done, I'm feeling free and creative. Hope your mojo returns quickly!

I think that happens to most of us.
Not that I'm trying to enable, but shopping always helps me get my juices flowing. Maybe a trip to your LSS, if you have one?
I also find if I get together w/friends to scrap, that will put me in the mood.
If none of those are possible for you, I also find just going thru my goodies will often make me want to use them.
Hopefully your slump won't last!

I get my slumps in the summer time. I didn't scrap for over two months this last summer. I was too busy at the lake, pool, just being outside! lol So I'm very behind on my 2014 layouts. I think they are only current through mid July. But then little by little I was indoors more and got my mojo back. Youll get there. Watch a few Youtube videos or browse some blogs, something will spark your creativity.

I make cards when my scrap slump hits......keeps me creative without being frustrated. However, it tends adds fuel to my ever growing stamp collection!!

I haven't scrapped since the week before thanksgiving. I am feeling very rusty and unmotivated right now. last night I forced myself to go into my room, pull out some paper, and trim enough down to make 4 valentine albums. no going back now.

This is my first ever slump. Like you, I didn't do much over the holidays. Now I sit at my desk and can't get motivated. I'm thinking I'll watch some old Shimelle videos on You Tube.

Yes. I scrapped one recently but cannot get a groove. I am going to work on a layout I had planned and pulled out supplies for in a bit.

I love you guys...maybe an old Shimelle or Wilna video like mikklynn suggested, or a challenge like bklyngal62 suggested. I told my husband the other day it is just like when he doesn't play squash for a week or so and his game gets rusty. (For those unfamiliar with Squash it is an indoor racquet game most similar to Racquetball). And my husband is a total Squash junkie! Most weeks he plays 4-5 times! He is on 3 different teams, plus plays socially. I need to exercise my scrap muscles!

The other technique I have used is finding a layout I like from my pile of magazine pages/sketch printouts and copying it nearly exactly.
This is definitely my worst slump ever. I feel better knowing my Pea friends have felt the same and have some ideas.

Hope you find your mojo soon. Post-holidays always inspire me to organize, so I spend my scrapping time sorting through drawers & closets throughout my home. Yet, I somehow find time to look at, talk about, & buy scrap supplies (only because they're on sale & will no longer be available once my organizational projects conclude, of course). Hmm...

I always have this problem when I start back scrapping!! I only get the time to scrap very infrequently, and it takes me a few hours to get 'in the mood' so to speak! lol!!
It usually takes me a couple hours to make my first layout, and it's tough to do-- I end up futzing with things endlessly, can't make decisions about colors/patterns of paper, etc. I usually start with a sketch or a 'non-important' page to help me get back into it. Once I get through that first layout (which I sometimes don't like all that much, but it's done), things go more smoothly for me and I will move on to a more 'important' layout or project.
The other thing I do sometimes to get me feeling creative is start flipping through my papers, re-organizing my embellishments, etc. and then I'll get the urge to use them on something.
Maybe after not scrapping, you're putting too much mental pressure on yourself to do those particular pictures 'just right' and you could start with something else??

Totally. I've had a half-completed page sitting on my table for almost 2 weeks now and I'm just stumped on it. I can't move past it for some reason! Well, i've been sick too so I'm sure that has something to do with it. I'm on a spending freeze so I can't go shopping to jumpstart me. Maybe a video

Yes.I have lots of pics to edit and have not scrapped at all in a month. I was able to get started on editing and finished a page that I started weeks ago yesterday. Felt good! Now I need to get off line and get back to it.

I'm in a slump, as well. I thought I would do a project life this year and I'm already behind. I keep forgetting to take photos. I can't get my head in the game!

I'm rethinking my plan of continuing my P365. I just feel burned out, and not in the mood to 'force it'. Hoping today to get inspired and get going on 2015.

Not sure what to do, I am almost about to scrap something I don't care about much just to get the inevitable getting back into the groove of things layout out of the way. This is what I do when I am in a funk. I didn't scrapbook anything from August-December. Life just got in the way and when I did have a spare moment all I wanted to do was chill on the couch. The first couple of layouts I made after that dry spell are kinda scary. They are simple and not at all in the same style I usually do but they are ok and are in my albums and they helped me get back into the flow of things.

Look in the gallery and you will see the page I made to get me back into scrapping mode. I always feel like I forgot to how to scrap and start with something that is a no pressure subject. I have to move all my scrap stuff to make room for the tree too Impearia! The tree is down but I am only half way done with putting my scrap stuff back because I am trying to get ready for my dd's big Sweet 16 party.

"...I always feel like I forgot to how to scrap..." this is totally what happens to me, too! I was sooooo busy at work over the course of the last few months that I had no desire to do anything at all creative. (well, I did want to, but I knew I didn't have time). I tried, though, and had two half-way done layouts on my desk for at least a month, and couldn't get into the game enough to make myself like them. I finally finished them today at a SB store crop, and while I don't love them, they were kind of the 'gateway' layouts to get back into a scrapping groove. Hopefully it will last a while, now. The first thing I did at the store (well, right after looking at what was new, lol!) was to make stamped thank-you cards that we need to send out for Christmas gifts thank-yous. They were TOUGH to make because I really had to force myself to get into creative card-making mode; I think it took me about 2 hours to make just 6 cards, lol!! (and thank goodness for Pinterest, for card ideas, otherwise I still wouldn't have thm done!!)

You guys are making me feel SO much better, thanks! I am still slowly, ever so slowly working on my first layout of the new year! scrapnatya it is hard to move all your stuff isn't it? I just never want to scrap when it isn't in its usual place. Oh and I can I just say : "Thank you!" I saw you featured my layout as an example for the Stashbusters challenge this go around. What an honour! I hope I can get something done to share with the group soon.
