I have a stack of art my kids have made and would like to create some kids of album for each of them. I'm not sure if I'll keep originals or just scan or photograph everything and make a photobook. Has anyone made one and do you have any advice? Thanks!
I'll take a look at pinterest for ideas too!

A photobook is a good solution.
I scrapped photos, scans, and some originals of my kids artwork in their sb albums. I didn't always feel compelled to keep the originals, if they were too big.

Thanks LavenderLayoutLady - the problem is that it's all so big so I may put them into photo books. I'm still debating if I want to scan it all or not.

I scanned things that fit & took photos of the big items.
Once completed, I made a 5x7 photo book.

First, I did get rid of some things. I use a 12X12 scrapbook from michaels and 12X 12 sleeves. I bought a pack of white 12X12 paper and double-sided tape.
I just put 1 piece of art per page with a piece of tape so it doesn't slide around and stick it in the page protector. It is super quick. I do it twice a year. So basically I save everything decent when it comes home and put it in a pile in the same place where it's not going to get ruined.
Then at Christmas I do Fall and in June I do the second half of the year. I also put school photos in there to separate the years and use stickers to spell out the date and maybe her age (don't remember). I was just about to get started with the stuff from Fall (had to put the tree away first..).
I'll take a couple of photos and post to flickr and put a link up here later today.
For me it is about what is fast. And I really like having the originals.

www.flickr.com/photos/lemoncadet/Here are a few photos. As you can see, It's simple. It's easy and it's fast. That's all I can handle and I want to keep this stuff. I have 1 album with her daycare and pre-K (these pics are from that). And 1 whole album for kindergarten. So far, just a few pages for 1st grade as they aren't doing much but ugly worksheets. I save her first spelling tests and the 1 art piece she's brought home. Putting it together now. I used to keep Santa pics in there but now they go in the Dec. Daily.

This would only work for someone that has a little one going into preschool. What I did was every day when they came home with a piece of artwork, which was just about every day. I took a picture of said child holding the artwork and then that's what I scrapbooked. I did keep just a few things from the whole year. Our preschool had a monthly calendar handout with the subject they where doing each day so I scrapbooked that one one the left and the pics on the right side. My kids went two days a week at three and 3 days a week at four. So 8-12 pics per month at most.

Thank you for all the replies and especially to caangel and blemon for sharing your work. I love the art incorporated with school work and other projects so that's likely the way to ho! I do have lots of pocket pages and things are fairly well organized by year so I think it will probably be easiest to get it photographed for a project life style album!

I did an alphabet photo book for my son. He LOVED looking at it. I took photos of his art (which was a ton of crafts they were doing in preschool) and found one for each letter of the alphabet. (A is for Apple, with his apple craft, etc.) If I had more than one pic for a letter I used those on the same page.

That's a great idea, longhornmom , I'm impressed that he had work that fit with every letter of the alphabet!

I made a 12x12 album of my son's artwork from his first year of preschool. I used his original artwork mounted on themed paper. This worked well for me since there was a monthly, thematic flow to the projects. The themed paper was whimsical and a nice backdrop to whatever he was learning at that time. For projects that he made using 12x18 construction paper, I cut the projects *gasp* in half! At the time, my son couldn't believe I was doing this! I created a two-page spread with them. Since I used a post-bound album, there wasn't a gap between the two sides. In the end, the album was quite hefty. I don't mind the size. The number of projects he makes in school decreases dramatically each year. He is now in 6th grade and I'm so happy that I kept those sweet, original creations.
I kept my daughter's artwork and will do the same thing. I should get on it since she's already in 5th grade!
Whatever you decide to do, enjoy the process!

I'm doing something similar but mine isn't quite as well organized. You have inspired me. I better get to work!!!
