The question for a CD with fonts made me think of all the fonts in my fonts folder. I used to have a good font viewer on my old PC, and would want something similar for Windows 8. I discovered I never look for a great font in my folder anymore, because it is a hassle to find the font I like for a specific purpose. Without a font viewer, I need to open each file to see how the font looks.
Could anyone maybe direct me to a great font viewer for PC? I am looking for a viewer that shows ALL the font files on my PC, not only the installed ones. (I have downloaded two different font viewers, both are great for installed fonts, but not for the uninstalled ones.) Thank you so much in advance!

I am not sure what an "uninstalled font" is, but I used to use a program called Fontview to see all the fonts in my font folder.

Hi, Karen, thank you so much for your reply! I googled Fontview and the description is "a little freeware utility for viewing and testing your installed fonts". I would like a program to view not only my installed fonts, but also all the other fonts I have downloaded. I have downloaded over 1000 fonts - would I install them all, my computer would become very, very slow.
I used to have The Font Thing, but apparently this program won't work under Windows 8.
PS. Please excuse my bad English, I am not a native speaker. By "uninstalled" I meant "not installed".

I use AMP Font Viewer on my Win7 and Win8 machines. (I don't know whether it's the same as Fontview.) www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.phpMain benefit is categories; you can sort what you have into custom categories. So if you need a dingbat font, you can find it easily (useful when you have hundreds!). But it'll also show uninstalled fonts, which is what you want. (I remember The Font Thing too! Man there's a blast from the past. )

I use Nexus Font and I think it lets you see the uninstalled ones as well. Check it out.
