I am thinking about getting some, but I have never seen them in person. The nearest store is a couple of hours away.... My question... What are the bottoms of the drawers like? If I store punches in them, will they bow??
TIA

I have heard they will bow with punches. I don't store punches in mine, or anything heavy so I haven't had any problem. I give the Alex a big thumbs up.

I don't think you could fit enough punches in them to make them bow? I use mine for rubber stamps, paints, and art journaling supplies. I love my Alex as well!

I've only had mine since August so not really sure if it will bow over time. Possibly. It seems sturdy, but you know, it is Ikea. I have a pretty lot in mine. I have punches in the 4th drawer (i think?) bcz I figured it would get more support from the drawer below. Not sure. I believe there is an option (or maybe an ikea hack?) where you don't have to put on the castors and could set it right on the floor. That may help.

I've had the wider Alex for over 2 years. I store punches in the top 2 drawers, but I haven't seen any bowing. FYI, there's about 25 punches (mostly Fiskars' handheld ones so they're not that heavy) in one and about 20 border punches in the other.

I just had to take my punches out because the bottom fell out of two of the drawers so yes they will bow. You can't store punches in there for a long time without it happening. Just use them for lighter stuff

I have the smaller 28"x15" or whatever unit instead of the super long one. I have punches in mine and it's fine, but there's less surface area and therefore they have more support from the sides.

I've stored punches in a few of the drawers of one of my (wider style/shallow drawers) Alex units for a couple of years, and they've held up wonderfully. The punches are only one deep and not crammed, if that helps.

I have the tall skinny one and I have large punches in one of the drawers and have no problems. I guess the wider drawers would hold more so more weight and maybe bowing. Love the drawers - very well made.
