have you ever used modeling paste in place of the embossing paste? I bought a good sized tube of modeling paste at Michael's for $3.00 I did a comparison with the 2 and except for the modeling paste not being a stark white, they worked exactly the same. The modeling paste dried quite a bit quicker, too.
I am going to buy modeling paste from now on, as it was quite a bit cheaper. I am going to use the embossing paste when I am going to leave the paste white on my card/project and the modeling paste when I am going to use ink to color it.

I have only used modeling paste. I'm a big fan of it. I recently just tried adding acrylic paint to it.

modeling paste and embossing paste are basically the same thing. The both vary in colour, quality and texture depending on brand in my experience.

I got it in the artist's paint section. It is Artist's Loft brand and comes in a tube. It was right in with the paints. It's about 1/2 the price or less of embossing paste.

Gosh, thanks for posting this!!!!!!!!!!! I have been wanting some modeling paste and I didn't realize it was cheaper than embossing paste. I'll get that tube from Michaels.
For the art challenged such as myself, you can use modeling paste and scrape it over a stencil, right?

Just one quick note: be careful when you buy mediums in tubes. It is harder to control amounts. If you use too much you can't get it back in the tube. So use sparingly, adding as you go. I prefer the tubs because you can always spoon it back in if you get too much the first time.
@tracieclairborne: yes, one way to use them is with stencils for a 3D look.

I was wondering if there was a big difference between the two. Thanks for posting.

I bought mine to mainly use with stencils. I used a lot of the emb paste on my Christmas cards with stencils.
