Do you do this and if so how is this working? Thinking about using the process from catching up some old photos - but don't want to commit to only pocket pages without any full layouts. Thanks,

I do it occasionally. Mostly when there was a big even with lots of pics that I just can't weed down. I am a one page scrapper do I may have the awesome money shot on my single layout as normal. Then a corresponding pocket page facing it that will have cards and the extra pics.

I do it whenever i have too many pictures to all fit on 1 12x12. I'm not a scrapbooker that can do a traditional 2 page spread. I never like how it comes out. So my alternative is the pocket page and its working out great for me. I mainly do it for more event type stuff. I have also done it in my daughters baby album for misc. pics or info that doesn't merit a full spread. My latest blog post actually is of a layout with an accompanying pocket page. Yes, I do Monthly PL and then I also do regular 12x12 layouts for big events - Easter, Kid's Birthday, etc. I put the 12x12 layouts at the end of album. PL pages first and then 12x12 layouts all together in the back.

I do this in my travel albums and I love it. I use the pocket pages for some of the more random shots that either complement the facing single page lo or that I don't think are a full story by themselves. So opposite a page about the fabulous sunsets I have a lone photo of a bird on the beach, me at the restaurant (taken just before sunset) and a another shot of the beach that was taken during sunset but didn't have the same colour tones as the other sunset photos. I also use them a lot for detail pages so in the Everglades part of my album there are lots of shots of animals/bugs/flowers in pocket pages.
Since I stick my pocket pages in the middle of my normal lo's I find it helps to plan both sides of the pocket at the same time to make sure I'm choosing the best style page protector and I have been known to shuffle the photos between the normal lo and the pocket to get the best flow overall.

Frequently depending on the occasion. For the most part I scrap PL style (though on an 8.5 x 11 format). Most times it's a weekly or monthly double page spread, sometimes it's a single page and for bigger events I'll do a regular layout. Obviously I have no hang-ups about mixing it up.

Yes, I mix pocket pages with regular 12x12 pages. I love mixing things up and I think it keeps the album interesting.

I just did that for my dd's graduation photos. I had way too many photos to scrap traditionally, so I picked my favourites to scrap and put the rest in pocket pages. It was either that or make a separate album.

My favorite kind of album is one with all page sizes mixed together and pocket pages in there too. Life is too short to be boring, even in our scrappy albums. LOL I think a mix keeps it interesting. I was just noticing this week that Doris Sander recently posted a Project Life page and she had mixed a layout in. Here's a link.... Doris' PL Page + Layout

I'm a traditional scrapper, who incorporates various sized page protectors (e.g. 8.5x11, 8x8, 12x12 pocket, 8.5x11 pocket) to hold extra photos or memorabilia (e.g. brochure, menu, report card, letter).

Yes! I do what a lot of the other posters have already mentioned: --extra pictures from an event --vacation photos that didn't make it onto a regular layout --monthly random photos in the typical PL style
I really like that I don't have to try to scrap every single photo from an event or vacation in the traditional sense. I have fun making the pocket pages interesting and love that the photos get into albums. I just mix them in with the other 12x12's.

We have had some great vacations and my boys are very active. I like the pocket page to show action shots (in succession) from zip lining, cliff jumping, and water sports. They are harder to do on a 12 x 12 unless I use the wallet sized photos.

I have done it. I've done it a couple different ways, so far: I've made a 'traditional' two-page layout and added a 6x12 page protector in the middle to add more photos and journaling. example here: hiking layoutI've also used a pocket page for a layout, and sort of used each pocket (four 6x6 pockets) as it's own small 'canvas'-- one quadrant is the title, and the other three quadrants are all the same topic. example here: bird brain layout
I have quite a few SG sketches saved where one page of a two-page layout is a 'traditional' layout, and the other page is a pocket page. I'm not sure what I think about those, so I haven't done one like that yet.

PL pages first and then 12x12 layouts all together in the back. I do weekly Project Life and 12x12 layouts for birthdays, school & other events. I don't use the same photos on both. I put the 12x12's at the end of my album.

I did it in an album I just finished for my niece. It was primarily PL but I added a few l/os when I had a particularly nice photo I wanted to feature. I personally like the mixture and think it adds interest to an album.

I haven't done it yet, but I intend to. The problem for me is that whenever I start a layout thinking that I want to use pocket pages, somehow it just never happens. I think that because I'm a traditional scrapbooker, I have a hard time wrapping my head around splitting up a page like that. I don't do many two page layouts, but even when I do, somehow pocket pages just haven't ended up in my albums... yet... but one day they will! I love the concept!

I do it all the time. I also like to trim off the outside row of pockets so it fits between a two page layout. This way I can still see part of the layout. It also takes up a little less room in the album. I agree with TracieClaiborne, life is too short to be rigid in my scrapbooking. I do whatever I like!

My favorite ones are the 6x12 I like to use them in travel pages and I try to "blend" in with the. Sin layout by matching the papers and embellishments

Another one here who likes to mix the styles. I also mix in digital scrapbooking and flip flaps.

I do it on occasion...when I have extra photos that just won't fit on the page, but I don't want to weed them out completely.

I have been using the pocket style pages for extra photos for a while now but mainly in my travel albums, I always seem to have so many more of those photos than anything else I scrapbook and I really don't like double page spreads, this is such an easy fix to that problem.

I do! I do a mix of traditional one and two page spreads with an occasional pocket page thrown in there. Sometimes it's just because I need the space of a two page spread (lots of photos I want to use) but don't want to scrap a traditional two-pager. I'll often scrap one side traditionally and the other half is a pocket page. I just IMMEDIATELY do or plan what's going to be on the other side of the pocket page in the album so that I'm not left with a weird blank backside.
I also use pocket pages to pop in photos I want to use in an album, but aren't particularly inspiring me for traditional scrapping. Gets them done and in the album. Again, I just make sure I have a plan for the other side of the pocket page. I've done this a lot with DS's first year album since I took soooooooo many pics.
