I'm cleaning the kitchen and noticed that we don't have enough of them.
We have some microfiber ones but the housekeeper messed them up.
I would like to buy some cotton ones. Which do you recommend?
Plain is fine.

I just bought a pack of microfiber ones at Bed Bath and Beyond...I usually buy kitchen towels at Joann's...LOL...they have some really nice ones and their Valentine's ones were on sale today

I need to replace all of ours, and when I do I'll be heading to IKEA. When my company moved offices I bought a couple of them and wow, love them, funky colors, thick, wash great and cheap!

I actually heard here that the dollar store has great kitchen towels. I just replaced all of mine with the ones from Dollar Tree, so we'll see!

I'd probably ask my housekeeper her preferences if she is going to be the one using/ruining them.
I like "bar mops" for some things. They are a heavier ribbed terry towel. Good for mopping up bigger spills, as a mat under air drying dishes and folded over several times as a makeshift pot holder in a pinch.
And I like "flour sack" towels for lighter usage like drying hands. The "Bakers and Chefs" brand on Amazon has been holding up well.

Clorox makes one that they sell at Walmart. I bought some 6 years ago and loved them then couldn't find them anymore. Strolling through walmart a couple weeks ago and found them again. Clorox towels link

I am NOT a fan of the cutesy printed terrycloth kitchen towels -- especially those really soft ones. They just aren't absorbent. The cotton/linen-type "flour sack" towels are preferable for drying crystal too, because they don't leave lint behind.

I love the Ikea ones. They are more the flour sack material.

I use the "flour sack" type of towel too. I don't like the lint from the terry cloth type and I don't like the way the microfiber feels. I buy them at Sam's.

Costco has some nice ones and they are reasonably priced. We bought some for our lake place and they have held up very well.

I have the Ikea towels in the drawer for back up, But we use the "bar mops" for everyday. We have a basket that sits next to the sink that we fold them up and put them in. We use these and TRY NOT TO USE PAPER TOWELS. I like the bar mops for a few reasons, 1 they are white, So easy to bleach if someone used them to clean up red juice or wine or red sauce! 2nd they are not huge towels, so easy to fold and keep a few on the counter and 3rd they are cheap! I get a 24 pack at Sams for abut $12, which is only .50 each! And I have to say, they are very absorbent. I use 12 at a time, We use 12 till they are pretty wore out / stained ( at some point, You can not bleach them any more) then those worn ones get rotated to the garage for the boys to use and the 12 new ones come out of the closet. I bet a 24 pack lasts me at least 2 years. I have 12 more in the cabinet now and those have been in there for over a year. if you dont want WHITE. Target has some colored ones ( I have a few of those too) I looked online and can not find the target ones, But they do have them. I just bought them for my sister in store. I think they were like $6 for 4 of them or something like that. Here is a link to the sams ones. Sams Bar mops

I am a collector of kitchen towels, but at the same time-I am really picky about the ones I buy. I do not like the terry cloth ones, they never work. My all time favorites, the ones I reach for time and time again are ones that I bought from Williams and Sonoma that are almost like the old fashioned huck towels. I adore them.
I also like the flour sack towels, the are really light weight and dry pretty well.

I like 100% cotton towels unfortunately I can't recommend a good brand because I haven't bought towels in over 15 yrs. I was in Walmart and found 6packs of coton towels on clearance for 50 cents a pack. I bought all 30 packs they had. 180 towels last a long, long, long time!

I bought some of these 10 years ago too and they were fantastic. A few years ago I needed more so I went to WS and the ones they have now are really thin and flimsy compared to the old ones. And expensive! I bought some similar ones from Sur la Table and they unraveled after a few months. I ended up buying these from Amazon and they are fantastic. They have been washed once a week minimum and they still look brand new four years later. These are much more in line with the older WS woven towels with a much more reasonable price. I also love the $.79 Ikea towels.

I bought a 100% cotton towel at ?Ross which is my favorite. It's a CAphalon solid color, and so very absorbent. Looked for another one today , but no luck. This towel really soaks up water.

My favorite ones are the Fiestaware ones I've gotten at Kohls. They are nice and absorbent, plus they are so bright and cute they make me smile.

I like to have tons of towels on hand and the $.79 ikea ones are great because they are cotton, simple, and don't have any annoying trims on them. They dry fast and wash out well.

I love mine so much and they are really old and I use the hell out of them. They look awful, but still work really well. I would love to replace (or more like supplement) but I guess I won't now.
