I just pinned quite a few layouts and other crafty images and I was wondering, "When you go to Pinterest for inspiration, do you scroll through your own pins or just look at the latest pins that pop up?" Personally, if I want to make a layout, I go to my So Crafty board because I have collected a wonderful array of layouts that inspire me in a variety of styles. That led me to another thought to ponder, "When you go to an image that inspires you that YOU have pinned, do you open the image to the web page or just look at your pin?" I usually just look at the pinned image. I rarely click through unless it's an article I want to read. I click those a lot, like daily. But for scrappy inspiration, I'm just a "scroller." What about you?

#1. It's usually 50/50. Sometimes I'll look on my board and sometimes I just look on under "scrapbooking layouts". However when I do look under "scrapbooking layouts" I get sucked into the pinning vortex and I forget I was on a mission to actually make a layout!
#2. If its a layout/card making pin I will just look at pin and not click it. If its a mini album or altered project pin I will most likely open the pin up. I like to see the inside of mini albums and with altered projects there tends to be helpful steps listed when you click pin link.

I prefer to click through to the original site if possible. Many times, the original site/blog/etc will offer addition related images, which can be helpful.
And as one who used to blog, I like reading the "take" of the original creator.

I generally use my own pins/likes for inspiration although if I need some title help, I'll search for something relevant to get some ideas.
If I use the pin for design or color ideas, I don't click through. If it's for a technique, I will click through.

for my own inspiration, I tend to look at my own pins or my own boards. If I fall down the Pinterest-feed rabbit hole, I'll never get back, lol!!
I use my feed in Pinterest-- along with searching in Pinterest or pinning directly from other sources-- for finding other things to pin to my own boards for later reference, or finding new websites / blogs. Mostly I look only at the pins themselves... if there's something more on the site I may want to click thru to later, I try to note that in the comments when I pin it, so I know later to go back to the original site.
I also will pin multiple photos from the same blog post-- for example, if I see a really cool layout design, I'll pin it to my 'layout inspiration' board. If there's a closeup photo of the same layout in the blog post and I like something about that as well, I may pin that closeup photo onto my 'embellishments and details' board.

I do both. When I a going to a crop I print out the photos as an idea. If I have wifi available I'll bring my tablet to look up the ideas.

I go through projects I've already pinned first, but if that doesn't get my mojo running, I start searching for new inspiration. And then, before you know it, hours have passed and I haven't left the computer. Pinterest needs a timer. After X hours, it locks you out for X hours.

I think I am following over 200 crafters so my feed is full anytime I look at it. I have hundreds of pins for inspiration.

When I do find inspiration from something I've pinned I usually just look at the pin. I don't necessarily follow a lot of scrap related pinners so sometimes I'll follow through to the website so I can pin a few more layouts. Of course that is almost as dangerous as searching on Pinterest...hours later and I'm no closer to scrapping than when I began.

Usually I just look at my pin. However, before I pin I often go to the original website to see if there are other things I want to pin.

I usually just look at my board, where I know I've already got some scrappy greatness. I don't usually click through, though. I just open the pin on my iPhone and scrap away. Oh, and did you know you can actually DOWNLOAD your pin boards? There's this cool FREE program called Download My Board (website by the same name). It pulls all the images off the board you want to save and makes them into both "small" and "large" images. It's really cool, but I guess in order to keep up with where you left off, you'd almost have to start a new board after every download, i.e. "Scrapbooking 1, Scrapbooking 2," etc.

I typically look at my own board. I have so many beautiful layouts pinned! And I just usually look at the pinned image - I don't go to the original page.

A little of both. I do have to be honest to say that sometimes I go there for inspiration and get sucked in looking at pins and not doing my own scrapping, which is what I'm suppose to try to be doing in the first place.

TracieClaiborne , you make me want to organize my pins better....I tend to lump most scrappy stuff into my project life board instead of separating g it out like you have! If I want to do something scrappy, I need to look at my own pins since my feed is filled with recipes, outfits, kids' crafts, workouts and cute puppies most days!

If I want to do something scrappy, I need to look at my own pins since my feed is filled with recipes, outfits, kids' crafts, workouts and cute puppies most days! That's funny because I think mine is a little unorganized but it inspires me the way it is. I put everything crafty I think I would actually make into "So Crafty" (most of it is wishful thinking) and that includes layouts I want to lift. I really only pin layouts I think I would scraplift or be directly inspired by. I see loads I like that I don't pin because I don't want to overwhelm myself when I'm looking for inspiration. I also have a PL board that I keep for just Project Life. I think my "So Crafty" board rocks, if I do say so myself. haha.
