I am sure that Peas will have the answer... a dear friend of mine has been losing weight. Initially it was intentional and then due to illness. Now that she is getting well she is determined not to gain weight and keeps a check on her BMI She is quite slim now, UK size 12 skirt and I have tried to impress upon her that when looking at her weight and BMI she needs to make an allowance for her ample breasts but we have no ideas how much they are likely to weigh. Any ideas please.

About 15 or so years ago, we were bored at work during the week between Christmas and New Year's. The work was slow...actually, non-existent. We were chatting amongst ourselves. The topic of breasts came up...again. Those of us well endowed declaring we would gladly hand over as much as our less endowed friends wanted...in a heartbeat. At some point the idea of weight came into the conversation. Before we knew it, we had pulled out the shipping scale, set it up on some boxes and I was weighing my girls.
Turns out they weigh 10lbs each. I'm was a 40 DD at the time. It did explain why most people rarely guessed my weight...they never took into consideration how much my breasts were adding to the overall total.

I'm 5' 7" a size 12, and I weight 200lbs. I know lots of women bigger than me that weight less. I am big boned--my wrist bone is 8" and my rib cage is 37". My bra size is a 38DD--I've been measured at Nordstrom, so I know that's the correct size.
My breasts are really heavy, so I tried to weigh them. I put a kitchen scale on the corner of my kitchen island.
8lbs each. 16lbs of breasts! No wonder my back hurts constantly. I'd get a reduction if I didn't have a blood clot disorder that makes surgery dangerous. I'd love to be a large B or small C like I was in college.
I absolutely think large breasts shouldn't count. My physician agrees with me since the breast tissue doesn't have anything to do with the fat in my abdomen and around my organs. I don't carry weight in my abdomen.
edited to add that since my grandmother died of breast cancer and my mother died of uterine/possible ovarian? cancer, my risk of breast cancer increases dramatically. I do know that the more breast tissue you have, the greater your risk. I have a serious hate/love relationship with my breasts.

Wow, the Peas rule! That explains my daughter who is a tall but very slim girl. Her hands can go around her thighs (B@*%@h). She weighs 145 pounds. She does have big breasts. I never could figure out how she weight 145 #

I thought I read somewhere that average is 5-8 lbs. I know when I weighed my D/DDs they were about 8 lbs each, but they are very dense. heard a joke on this topic recently: how do you make 5lbs of fat attractive? put a nipple on it.

My mother's were over 40 pounds. She had a breast reduction and over the 2 weeks she was in the hospital(1960's). She lost over 55 pounds. 40 of it was boob.

This reminds me an episode of Manzo's with Children. Caroline went to weigh herself, and her husband Albert came up behind her and lifted her boobs. LMAO it was too funny, her kids didn't think so.

Whoah - According to that link mine weigh less than 4 pounds total, but based off what other people are saying they should weigh a lot more. Now I'm curious and may have to figure out the weighing with my kitchen scale thing. Thank God I live alone! I will say that after losing 30 pounds I have not lost anything in my chest - I've been measured 3 times and get exactly the same thing - so I assume that means mine are pretty dense and not as much fat or I would have lost them by now, so maybe they are on the heavier side. That would make me feel better if they were 10 pounds.

I just recently realized that when people give their height and weight and it is similar to mine yet they wear a much smaller size it's because of boob weight. Mine are small so although I am similar in height and weight to the 5'7" 200 lb poster above, I wear a 16-18. No boob weight!

I have very dense breasts, not fatty. When I lose or gain, nothing much changes in the boob area. I would say depending on the breast tissue makeup, your "mileage may vary" (God, I hate that pea saying - but I'm a pea, so I feel obligated). Boob mileage. HEHE

Funny that you guys are weighing your boobs on kitchen scales. You do realize the only way that would be accurate was if you cut them off.

I don't think they weigh as much as they feel. I had BR and was surprised at how little weight was taken off. It felt like much more when carrying it around.

I wonder how much someone like Angela Jolie lost when she removed them. Most likely not much.
