I'm not sure if I will be able to describe this well, but here goes....
I would love to be able to print an 8.5x11" layout diagram directly on to a sheet of cardstock, that I could then place photos and embellishments where the diagram shows they should go.
It would be like a true-to-size PageMaps diagram.
Or a scrap-by-number.
I like layout sketches, but sometimes they are still too vague for me. I want a sketch that I could print on the cardstock itself that would tell me "place a 1 inch embellishment on each letter A" etc.

Mine aren't actual size from these books, but they do give you the measurements. Close to My Heart books are similar with the measurements. |

Right now I am making 50 two-page layouts for a trip (25 different designs) and these books are great for figuring out picture placement and size. I am using the Christmas one and changing the trees for beach stuff. |

While the CTMH books don't have life size page maps, they do have lists of exactly what sizes the papers need to be cut in, then just glue them down following the diagram. The only thing that I don't love about their "maps" is that they have a lot of overlapped papers. To me, that seems wasteful and it creates a lot of extra bulk on the pages, so I try to find a workaround.
I think the Scrapbook Generations books are similar with giving measurements. The last time I scrapped I used a sketch out of one of their books and it really helped to speed up my painfully slow scrapping process. I really need to get a couple more of their books. Even though it's not exactly "scrap by number" it's probably about as close as you will get.

Thanks for mentioning our sketch books! We have quite an assortment of them, including the Christmas sketch book, our newest. The older books are just sketches...the newer ones also include color layout examples. All the books can be ordered as traditional hardcopy books, or as ebooks. We also sell individual sketches, and small grouping of sketches, starting at 49¢. And best of all, lots of free sketch downloads so that you can try them out to see if you like using SG sketches before you buy.
FYI: Right now, our website/online store is down for a week while we make the switch to a MUCH improved online store. It should be back up by Friday, Jan. 26, with lots and lots of new features and easy, quick navigation. We are so excited it's hard to wait!
