Because our dollar is so horrible right now?
Its really terrible because of all the nice CHA stuff. It just all too expensive being 20-30% more right now. I hope our dollar comes back soon.

I normally don't shop across the boarder anyway. I live to far away so online shopping would be my only option. Shipping can be high to get to me so I just don't bother. I already drool over CHA stuff from afar.

Aussie here, we're in the same boat. Am definitely re-assessing my subs! I have so much 'stuff' but I really like getting new stuff!

Who can afford an extra 20-30% ? It's crazy. I use Amazon.ca for some of my supplies. I just recently bought three new embossing folders on there. I'm a Prime member, so shipping is fast and free and it's all in Canadian funds.

I didn't realize the Canadian Dollar was that low. I haven't bought anything outside Canada in a while and won't be so I am good. I have a list at ACOT and I can wait. There is nothing I can't live without. If you saw my stash you would agree with me, too. Another package of Primas? Elannah, you are good. Really good for a few lifetimes anyway. Paper? Oh man, paper, paper, paper. Stamps, dies, inks, colours, paints, anything else? Yeah, we're good. Really good for a long time.
If the dollar goes up, maybe I will hit send.

I haven't bought anything in a while and probably won't. I live in a small town with a sawmill and there is some serious talk of a layoff or even shutting down the mill permanently. My dh owns a logging company so there would be no unemployment insurance. So I'm saving my money for more important things like food in the future. ironically the low dollar usually helps the logging industry, but our sawmill is struggling anyway. The stress has been affecting my mojo so it really isn't too hard not to shop.

Sylvie you are in BC aren't you? The logging industry is huge in our province. I seem to recall you lived somewhere in the Kootenays? Am I wrong? I won't name any towns but I used to deal with one of the towns from that area long, long ago.
I am just not shopping. I am buying clothes right now instead. It is much more fun!

I'm not scrap shopping per se but that is because I have other things going on in my life. I am currently helping my future daughter in law with wedding decorations and decor so am focused on that.
I have been to the scrap store a couple of times to purchase things we needed but lately my shopping consists of Michaels and the Dollar Store for decor, burlap, picture frames, etc.
The times I have made cards on worked on layouts, I am just using what I have, because well, I have a lot of it!

They have been saying they are going to close this mill for forty years, so it's nothing new. But someday, the rumours may be true! are you in BC or AB?

As a scrap store owner, the dollar is killing me personally but great for our online store. We have noticed quite an increase in our online store I think because people are realizing with postage rates and the exchange, it is much cheaper to shop from Canadian stores. I am trying my hardest not to increase our prices but if it keeps dropping, it's going to have to happen

Oh yeah, the drop in the dollar has definitely put an end to my online orders! My wish list is growing and I'm totally drooling over all the new stuff, but I just can't justify the cost now! Doesn't look like it's going to change for a while so I guess that means I'll have no choice but to use things from my stash! Not sure what I'm going to do when I run out of Copic paper and necessities that I just can't buy locally... Guess I won't have a choice but to pay the extra $$!

That thickers price is a exaggerated - that's a Michael's price! My LSS's have them for $4.99-6.99 depending. I only shop online now from places with a discount. I won't pay the full price with our dollar. So an online store recently had %40 store wide, and I did order, figuring I was coming out a little ahead because of saving taxes. The item I was really wanting this Spring - a MISTI for stamping - is no longer being ordered however

Its also only a matter of time before the Canadian stores are charging more. The supplies are all coming from the States.
Another reason I don't purge

Most of my Thickers were bought at Winners/Home Sense, 10 sets of Thickers in a package for $19.99.

It's the same for us in New Zealand - our dollar is now under US$0.80 I've cut back a lot - just trying to stick to one PL sub.

The Cdn dollar makes me glad I have a mega giant stash. Which I will be working out of until the dollar does a bit of a rebound.
The only thing I will need to buy at some time is tape. Other than that I can make do.
