Ok, so ds has severe allergies to nuts, eggs, oats, barley, wheat, rice, milk, goats milk, soy, apples, peaches, pears, latex, food dyes, on and on and on.
He is on medical formula, short gut, was tpn dependent.
Has health issues - seizures, pulmonary hyper, sbs, form of anemia, gi issues, and unknown genetic syndrome. Has had blood transfusions.
He had a very serious reaction to a vaccine and due to other alergies never received mmr and the rest of chicken pox and one other.
Doctor said to talk with allergist to see if there is a way to safely administer mmr vaccine in light of mmr outbreak here in southern California.
I am scared. Very scared.
Has your child been able to receive a special allergy friendly vaccine? The worst is egg and latex. Life threatening allergy to latex.
The non epileptic seizure disorder also has me worried.
I do know those with certain allergies, those who have had transfusions, and those with certain medical conditions should not get certain vaccines.
His previous dr passed away so we are seeing a new dr. His previous was on board with previous allergy and gi to not get it. But there was no measels around...

I have an egg allergy.
I did get the egg free flu vaccine this year and it was amazing!!! No reaction whatsoever. Normally, I have a regimen of prednisone, benadryl and claritin (plus my normal singulair) and I still get a local reaction. Not a thing this time. No hives, no huge welt, nothing.
For the MMR, we did it in 6 divided doses with prednisone. That was many years ago, before there was an egg free version. I had to get it for medical school. As with my flu shot, I did it under the care of an allergist. BTW, in the meantime, it has been established that children without severe egg allergies can get the regular MMR vaccine. It's only those who also have asthma and have had more severe allergic reactions to eggs. Though, if it were me (if I had to do it again... which is debatable because my immunities to these things are often in the equivicol range), I would just get the egg free version and call it a day!

I have no idea as dd doesn't have severe allergies. My nephew does but not so bad that he's had to skip vaccines. Except flu shots for a couple of years but then they decided it was better to get it and see than not (no issues after all). But I just wanted to say good luck, I hope you can find a way for him to get it safely or if he can't, that he stays safe. This is why people who CAN get vaccinated should, herd immunity to keep kids who can't safe.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one, but this might be a case for no-vax. It sounds like your sweet DS has more issues to deal with than getting his shots. The rest of the population need them, of course, but maybe, just maybe, he should be exempt? Except maybe for the very worst diseases that could really hurt him. This doesn't sound like a win situation in any way, shape or form. I am PRO van and believe in them but if DS is that precarious I would think about which ones to get, if any
