I want to make something like this for Valentine's Day: and I was in Walmart today and found these in the Valentine Candy Aisle: They are giant premade sheets of Rice Krispy Treats! So all I have to do is get out my heart cookie cutter and do the chocolate part. The sheets are as big as a baking pan and the valentines ones are in a purple/pink package, not blue if you are looking for them.

That is a really good idea! You could dip in chocolate, sprinkles, etc. Save yourself the hassle of stirring those stupid marshmallows. . My arm always gets tired when I am stirring the marshmallows. I must be really out of shape, lol!

I like the taste of homemade rice Krispie treats more than the store bought ones, but these are fantastic- my rice Krispie treats are not firm enough to.cut.

My sister makes kick ass rice krispie treats and she makes them in the gallon size zipper bags so they are sort of like those sheets. then she slices the bag open and cuts them into shapes.
I'm thinking she'd be a rich bitch if she had taken it to Kelloggs back in the day.

The secret to being able to cut them is to put them in the fridge for 30 minutes or so before cutting them. However, the product in the OP would be great for making kid treats!

I saw those at the store today. Great idea but I think the premade ones are way too sweet and funky tasting.

My mom and I made 45 of these for my brother and sis-in-laws rehearsal dinner (favors at each seat). It was way cheaper to make them from scratch. We just made the rice crispy treats in a jelly roll pan to make them about the same thickness as the premade ones. They were a big hit.

You could also put the cookie cutter down on the counter and stuff the rice krispie goo into the shape then remove the cookie cutter. If you had the right kind of cookie cutter anyway and I haven't tried it so maybe it wouldn't work... just an idea.

I don't care for the store bought ones, either. They have an odd taste to them. I think making them in a jelly roll pan would accomplish the same thing. I have a Wilton baking pan that is a mold for heart shaped cookies. It even has spots where you can insert lollipop sticks. I've found that the pan bites for making cookies -- they are too heavy on the sticks -- but it is perfect for Rice Krispue treats! I've made some cute Valentine "bouquets" over the years.

I agree the store bought ones have a weird taste. I think rice krispy treats are one of the easiest things to make, so this shortcut wouldn't appeal to me.

We gave out storebought rice crispie treats for Halloween, and had no complaints about them. I ate the leftovers and personally, I enjoyed them. The problem with homemade ones is that in about a day and a half, they are a soggy stale mess.

Store bought ones aren't as good, but I will eat them! I have never tasted ass, so now I know. It isn't terrible. I make my Krispie Treats in the microwave. I have a huge bowl and I heat the butter and marshmallows for a couple minutes and stir in the Krispies. So fast in the micro! I dump the Treats in a pan and then spray my hands with Pam and pat them down flat. Sometimes I add sprinkles for whatever season. Is there anything better?

Rice Krispy treats and ass, never thought I would see those two words in the same sentence.

Cook the melted marshmallows longer they should firm up more when set in the rice krispie treats. But its a fine line. I have made some I cooked the marshmallows way too long, and they were WAY to hard. I just give it a little extra stirring after they have all melted. Maybe 90 seconds on med heat.
And yes the store brought premade ones taste AWFUL.
Who still makes them the OLD fashion way with a tablespoon of Vanilla in them?

I still make them the old fashioned way and yes, with vanilla.
I've made them before on cookie sheets so they were thin enough to cut with a cookie cutter.
But if I was in a hurry and pressed for time, (i.e. last minute treat needed) I would buy those heart shaped pre-done ones. I imagine they will be out for Easter too in the shape of and egg maybe.

yes store bought ones taste awful! and my homemade ones (yes with vanilla) never get soggy. If yours are getting soggy, you're putting the rice krispies in when the melted marshmallows are too hot & its breaking down the cereal. I find they're much better if you let the marshmallow mixture cool for a couple minutes before adding the cereal

How do you know what ass tastes like? That's what my immature husband would say Really i don't mind the store bought ones but only the actual Rice Krispie ones. They are not THAT bad. The little Debbie Valentine's ones are pretty awful though. Don't even attempt to put one of those in your mouth. I will agree though homemade ones are the best

HA! Mine never get soggy or stale?? you must be doing something wrong like someone else said, and when do kids complain about what they get at Halloween?
Seriously, eat a store bought one, then a homemade one. NO contest.
