Not a fan of Katy Perry. I wanted more Lenny Kravitz. Much more Lenny Kravitz!

I thought it was a great halftime show. I usually don't enjoy the halftime show because it seems like the music gets lost in all the theatrics. Tonight's show certainly was theatrical, but it was mostly about the music. I thought it was fun and entertaining without being too over the top.

I enjoyed all of it, especially Lenny Kravitz.
I just tuned in for halftime. I was boycotting the rest.

Ok I had to go watch it on Youtube just because of this thread. Miss Elliott was by far the best part. She is, IMO, an entirely different class of performer than Katy Perry. She was completely engaging and entertaining just with herself and her dancers. There was no need for the elaborate sets and props that Katy had in all of her songs. I'm not saying Katy didn't do a good job, but I think she was shown up.
Side note: How do they do those costume and set changes so quickly? Is it just edited for tv and the live Superbowl audience sees it all happen at a much slower pace?

Good call, probably was a lion! I can't believe I didn't make the "roar" connection! It looked like a (cool!) lion, but in the song she says "eye of the tiger," but both big cats roar -- no matter, she gave a really nice halftime show, I thought. That confused me too- looked more like a lion but the song mentions tiger. Either way.. I thought it was... Different. I think it was definitely a fun, entertaining, and family friendly show, but I'm just not a huge fan of KP.

The lyric of Roar mentions both a tiger and a lion...
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire 'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar Louder, louder than a lion 'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar Oh oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh oh You’re gonna hear me roar

I thought Katy seemed a little stiff. I don't know if she was nervous or what. Normally she is all over the stage and dances a lot more than what she did tonight. Overall I thought it was a good show. Glad it wasn't all sexed up. The beach balled boobs were a little sexed up. Plus, I had the pleasure of explaining to my little girls why she liked the cherry chapstick on the girl she liked to kiss cos she liked it. Your "little girls" seriously captured all of those specific lyrics? Come on.

I thought the show was visually great, very up beat, but it was hard to hear her. It was hard to hear everyone. Not sure if that was a stadium issue or a production issue, but the sound wasn't as good as last year. I felt bad for her because it seemed like she performed her butt off but it was hard to hear.
The Sharks were funny, the ball people were ok, the wave people looked happy to be there. I saw nothing wrong with any of the costumes.

I like Katy, but I wasn't a fan of this show. My husband also asked why she was riding a lion if the song is about a tiger.
Loved Lenny but it was way too short!
I thought last year with Bruno was so good, it was a let down for me.

Ladies those of you who are unfamiliar with with Missy Elliot just because she is a rap artist shouldn't write her off for that. She is a producer, song writer and a performer. She made a life and a career for herself. That is why I say she is a legend. She went above and beyond the average artist during her prime. The reason you don't see much from her now? She's made enough money to live her life comfortably. I admire her so much. Can you give me some names of songs she has written?? I honestly know nothing about her

Missy Elliot wrote or co wrote :
I'm his only woman by Jennifer Hudson
Free yourself by Fantasia
Things you say by Whitney Houston
Baby doll by Mariah Carey
You don't have to worry by new edition
7 song from One in a million by Aaliyah

I don't know who Missy Elliott is either! But I also don't care that I don't know her. Don't watch the awards shows. Don't like rap music and I don't like any of the female artists that were previously mentioned. Yes, it is possible.

We enjoyed the show... I thought the beach bit was a bit odd.. didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the show.
Missy Elliot killed it. Lenny was amazing.
I would rather have seen more of them and less of Katy! All the middle school girls at the party came to watch Katy.

We loved it!!1 It was just my daughter and I watching here at home, she is a huge Katy Perry fan and we thought Katy did great. I loved Missy Elliot coming out, brought m back to my college days lol....I thought it was a tasteful show. We have seen Katy in concert and I do think she held back during Superbowl but it also seemed like she put a lot into those 15 minutes.

BUT the reason we haven't heard or seen her much lately is because she has Grave's disease and has not been well enough to perform...not because she's made enough money and is ready to step back.

I loved it. I thought Katy's show was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be. Some modern stuff for her, and some of her classic stuff. She is cheesy, loves goofy costumes that are funny and she doesn't care what people think about that. So I think it was great that she brought it!
Lenny and Missy were good additions to the show, but I don't think they 'made' her shoe either. Just great additions!
And those costume changes and set changes are always fascinating! I have a great appreciation for seeing costume changes since DD is a dancer. She can and has to change costumes very quickly sometimes and it's amazing to see it all get done!

Didn't do it for me, too much high tech stuff (for the first part). Bring back the old timers, to me, they know how to play to an audience. I'd rather have a good old rock band doing their thing without all the Las Vegas-type glitz I agree! Katie Perry had way too many theatrics versus being entertaining. I can't imagine how Katy Perry's performance would have gone over if she didn't have Lenny Kravitz or Missy Elliot are part of the show. I was so disappointed in that I went on YouTube and watched most of the past Super Bowl performances from Michael Jackson onward. Bruno Mars still holds the trophy for the most energetic, truly entertaining performance at a Super Bowl - ever. Michael Jackson is a close second just because, well, he was Michael Jackson.

I can totally appreciate the fact that some of you have never heard of or don't care for Missy Elliot, despite the fact that she is a legendary female rapper. Had it been a country music icon performing I would have not known who it was, I would have not cared who they were, and chances are I wouldn't have liked it. That's the beauty behind music. Different types for all of us to enjoy and we don't have to like it all.

It really felt like she was sreaming her songs instead of singing them. But the production was very Super Bowl like.

I loved Lenny Kravitz. Yum. I wish he had been the headliner. Missy Elliott's performance was terrific and she looked terrific too! I'm not a rap or hip hop fan (I'm not even sure which type of music she does) but I really enjoyed what she did. Katy Perry - shrug. She was fine and it looked like she did work hard on making everything sparkly.

I spent his entire ( short ) performance trying to figure out what he had on under his jacket. For the life if me after that short perfomance I still wasn't not sure fuzzy gold sparkly shirt or hairy hairy chest with body glitter. Lol I had to google an image to be sure. Loosley knitted Gold shirt.
