Is there a big difference between the two when using to stamp sentiments? I need to make some cards and the sentiment I've chosen isn't coming out as crisp & clear as I would like. I'm using Memento ink.

I prefer Versamark Fine myself.
Are you using acrylic or rubber stamps? I find with acrylic if the image isn't quite crisp, a light sanding will help.

I'm using rubber stamps with a foam pad underneath.

Memento is a dye ink and Versafine is a pigment ink. I love to use the Versafine with clear embossing powder. I mostly use the Memento for coloring with Copics. If it's not inking up right you might need to use a reinker.

I find there is a difference... I use Memento for most things (date stamps, basic letters, to use with Copics), but switch to Versafine when I want a super crisp image that looks like it could have been printed (on a printer), instead of stamped... I find acrylic stamps to be squishier so sometimes they don't stamp as crisp if you press too hard or wiggle them... For intricate rubber stamps that I want a really crisp impression of, I always use Versafine... Is it a large stamp, or are there a lot of sold areas to it? I find that if my ink pad is running dry, it shows up most and first with stamps that have a lot of solid areas on them... If the ink isn't even on those areas you see the variations and it never looks crisp...

ITA with Penny! When I want the rich black crisp image or text I use the Versafine.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It is a medium to large size rubber sentiment stamp that says "hello" in a script font. No, the stamp pad isn't dry. I'm finding the image looks like it's slightly bleeding in some areas using Memento ink. I think I will go buy Versafine because I do want the crisp image like you are describing.

My go-to black ink is Versafine Onyx Black. The only time I use Memento is with copics. IMO there's a huge difference and you can't beat the crisp dark images and amazing coverage you get with Versafine,

Ok, I'm sold! How long does it take to dry if you don't emboss whatever you stamped?

I'm wondering if some of the bleeding is due to the paper - have you tried it on other brands of paper? Some seem to absorb ink more/less, some have longer/shorter fibers, some have coatings... All that said, I still have the best luck with VersaFine Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm using Stampin' Up's Whisper White cardstock. I did buy a Versafine stamp pad & the difference between the 2 stamps pads is pretty significant. Don't think I'll use any other black stamp pad for sentiments in the future.
