Will you be going to see it? Hubby and I are going on Valentines Day. I am not thrilled about the actors that were chosen, because in my head - they looked different than those actors, but in my head a lot of people look different than who they really are in real life! I'm interested to see what parts they omit from the book . . .

I want to go by DH just said last night that he is not watching a porn on Valentines Day. So I asked when would be more appropriate? Halloween??

No. I will not. Read the book, wasn't impressed.

I might when it comes to redbox. The book was horrible, but the movie looks like a good train wreck to hate watch and heckle.
.
Why would you go see a chick flick like that with DH though? I can't imagine doing that.
With a bunch of girlfriends in a theatre with cocktail service, maybe. With DH? Doesn't even sound fun.

umm- nope. No way would my BF be caught dead in the theater for that movie, and I have heard enough about the book to know I don't want to see it either.

I will see it because I invested so much time in reading the long boring first book onto to finish it and discover that it's a triology. So I need to know the ending.

I didn't think I would like Dakota as Ana but they are showing some never-seen-before scenes on The Today Show this week and she has impressed me! There are two videos so far and they are on their website.
ETA: I really don't like going to the theatre so I will wait until it comes out on DVD.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the movie is only supposed to cover the first book. At least that was the plan in the beginning. It may have changed.

See, I really liked the book (s), but the actors they chose do NOT do the book actors justice. I've watched clips of the movie and don't see any sexual tension at all with them - unlike the book. I don't find either one of them particularly good looking, unlike how they are described in the book. I don't know if I will see it - don't think DH would ever be caught in the movie theatre, lol.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the movie is only supposed to cover the first book. At least that was the plan in the beginning. It may have changed. I think it would just cover the first book simply by the title of the movie ( the 2nd and 3rd book have different titles) and besides that there is too much to go over for a 2 hr movie.
I will go but probably by myself ugh, I don't even think my hubby even knows what the book(s) are about, he is not really into relevant in the news pop culture stuff. I wish I had a GF to go to the movie with.
I don't really think there will be "porn" in the movie lol geez probably some innuendo for some of the stuff and a lot of moaning and stuff haha. I don't think we are going to see full frontal nude scenes but heck who knows haha!
I have to giggle at people who judge the book but never read it, I didn't think the scenes in the book were that racy guess I am weird lol.

Nope. Read the books and hated them so no desire to see it play out on the big screen.

You're right. It's not porn. It has an R rating so it will be no different than any other R rated movie. There will be a lot left to the imagination and I'm fine with that. I don't know about Dakota but Jamie Dornan has said that he did not do a full frontal.

I'll be at shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I'm not sure if i'll see it yet. They offered us a pre-show but I dunno, sitting in a theater with 6 other gals just seems, awkward. Somehow a full theater is a little more comfortable. haha

I like them - it's a nice break I wouldn't call them porn either. I just picture Christian Grey so much sexier then the guy on the movie.

You're right, driving to the movie theatre, buying tickets, waiting for the movie to start, watching a two hour movie, walking back to your car, and driving home is a much faster way to get ideas.

You guys know that they are NOT showing the hardcore stuff in this movie right? The majority of what happens in the book will be left up to the imagination in the movie so as far as porn, I don't think this movie will qualify.

I was another one that really liked the books I have read them all twice lol. See I was like you when they cast the actors but in watching the trailers and the exclusive clips they are showing on the Today show the actors are starting to make me believe in their portray of Ana and Christian.
I know in reading The Thorn Birds and watching the mini series I was really disappointed in Richard Chamberlain as Father Ralph. I had watched the mini series and read the book many yrs later and I still don't know why he was Father Ralph but at the time I think he had done Shogun maybe and he was the hot young actor, either way he wasn't the FR I had pictured once I read the book

Although Jamie Dornan wasn't my first choice for Christian Grey - I really don't know anyone else in Hollywood that is much closer. I thought Alex Petyfer would have been better (clean shaven, of course) but I think Jamie is just fine. He is dreamy, IMO. (Loved him as the Huntsman in Once Upon A Time and was devastated when they killed him off *spoiler alert*)
