Good morning ladies!! Got a call at 5am this morning that we have a 2 hour delay. I typically work Thursdays but when we have 2 hour delays, the lady I work for usually finds someone else to come in since I have to get the kids to school. I know on Thursdays though, it's harder for her to find someone to cover my time so I offered to drop ds off and then go into work anyway. My girls can come with me and just walk to school from her house (she's about a block from the school). So I'll be heading to work today, only a bit later than normal. I'm pretty sore this morning. I spent a SOLID 4 hours cleaning yesterday - the down and dirty cleaning. LOL Cleaning the bases of the toilets, scrubbing a couple of floors, etc. I don't typically count cleaning as exercise...but I sure did yesterday. I was sweating and took tons of steps. My eating was ok yesterday. I had chicken stir fry and brown rice for dinner last night and it was so good. There was some left over so I'll have a little of that for lunch today. Breakfast this morning was 2 pieces of whole wheat toast with reduced fat pb and 1/2 a grapefruit. Lunch will be the leftovers. Dinner is going to be grilled cheese and tomato soup. Not the healthiest but we have soccer tonight and won't be home until after 6. Have a good day girls!!

I was up at 5:30 to go to the gym. I find the whole process easier if I lay everything out the night before so I don't have an excuse to crawl back into bed. The one thing I forgot was to check the battery level on my iPod so I had to 'wing' the C25K this morning. Anyway, even without being able to walk the last few days and the raging PMS, I'm down another two pounds. One more before I reevaluate my goals again. At some point I'll have to start eating at a surplus if I want to build muscle. Meals Breakfast: crumpets, cashew butter, raspberry jam, coffee, cream, sugar, and a protein shake Snack: veggies & hummus Lunch: cottage cheese, peaches, hemp hearts and walnuts Dinner: I'm seriously craving a steak but I think I'm out of charcoal and the store didn't have any last night. . We'll have to see.

I hate when the iPod isn't charged!! Great job on the 2 lbs down Dalai Mama Well I spent about 50 mins shoveling the 4" of snow off the driveway! I think I'd mentioned that our snowblower died during the last storm (wouldn't start and dh thought the head was cracked). Well apparently he'd been thinking about it and the day of our last storm it was REALLY cold...less than 10 degrees. He said that typically when it's that cold he HAS to use the electric start to get it started. But the started wasn't working at all so he had to try to pull it to start it. When he got home from work last night, he went straight to the shed and low and behold was able to start it. It was 30 degrees yesterday. Soooo, the electric start is not working at all. But as long as he can get it to 30 degrees, then it looks like he'll be able to start it! We have a small portable heater so he'll use to warm the snowblower up so it'll start if it gets really cold again! Since we have soccer tonight and that means getting home late, I decided I'd go ahead and shovel today anyway.

Great job on the loss and the cleaning - I'd say four hours of deep cleaning is worth some activity points!!
This evening is weigh in, so I will be going light for breakfast and lunch. My fiance weighed, and he is down another three pounds this week - so proud of him!
Have a great Thursday everyone!

Great job everyone!
This morning I am shaking my head at the scale. Our bodies REALLY are crazy. I officially weigh in on Tuesday, but do step on everyday. On Tuesday I was the same as last Tuesday. But I knew that I was really down some because mid-week I showed a half pound loss and I haven't cheated. Maybe sodium? Yesterday was also the same, but today I am down 3 pounds. Did I really lose 3 pounds in one day? NO. I lost 3 pounds over the last week and a half but it's just now showing itself. I WISH I could only step on the scale every two weeks or so. But that damn thing calls to me when I wake up every morning. But at least I know if I am on plan that slight ups and downs are temporary.
Anyway, I had a protein shake for breakfast. Not sure about lunch, but dinner will be pork loin, broccoli and some baked red potato.
Everyone have a great day!

Good morning everyone! Yesterday was pretty good for me. I did a spin class at lunch yesterday with some co-workers. Doing an hour long class during the day was a little tough schedule-wise, but I think I may start doing my weights workouts during the day. It was great coming home yesterday, and not feeling the conflict of "do I work out? or Do I plop down on the couch and watch some tv?" I've thought about getting up early and going before work, but I just don't know if that is sustainable. Anyway, had a good lunch of zucchini noodles, chicken sausage, and artichoke hears. For dinner, I took my son to the local hibachi grill (I skipped the rice ) I've finished all of my workouts for the week until Saturday. I'll be doing a 48 mile bike ride. It's going to be sunny and in the 70s. I'm really looking forward to it!!!

Hi everyone. I posted last night that I was joining the group but my post was pretty negative. I have been feeling really unhappy with myself for not following through with my weight loss plans but I know that things will not change unless I make changes. You can't expect different results when you are doing the same thing!
Anyway, I proposed a challenge to my DH. My birthday is May 16. From Monday, February 9 until my birthday, every lb lost will be worth 100 pts. Every minute spent exercising is 1 pt. Every day that I eat at least 5 servings of fruits/veggies and drink at least 64 oz of water is worth 5 pts. If I earn at least 4000 pts by my birthday I will get $100 to spend towards a fancy pair of jeans. I need to check my math since I estimated the number of days and weeks, but that is where I am at right now. I want to make the goal attainable but not too easy.
Are most of you doing WW? I've done WW in the past but think I will just stick to eating as little processed food as possible and logging on MFP.

Good luck with your points system! My short term goal is just to stay at my calorie level on MFP and not go over until our cruise at the end of March. I'm 2 1/2 weeks in and doing well.

Thanks! I don't know why I have such a hard time staying on track and keeping motivation high enough to take the time to plan and prepare meals. I feel horrible and just keep gaining weight. My clothes are getting too small and I wonder if I am having blood sugar problems again since I have been so tired (I haven't been sleeping well, though, either). I will be 40 in May. I want to enter the 40's being healthier than I have been in the 30's! I will be going out of town this weekend, which is why I am not "starting" my points system until Monday.

I've been sore from mopping the past few days. It really gets to my lower back! I have no 'core' strength at all, which makes it worse....
I was patting myself on the back yesterday for not getting a Pepsi when I was driving around. I got iced tea instead!
The chicken livers I had for supper last night weren't the healthiest choice, but at least I had no sugar yesterday.
ETA : I've been using back pain excuse for not working out, but I really should just get on the treadmill. It would probably loosen things up. Tell me I should do this, ladies. Please!

It seems like I have been dieting for 10 years. I do SO well for a couple of months and then something derails me and I can't (or won't) get back on for months and months. And then I have to start over. But now I'm where my clothes aren't fitting and I just can't buy larger sizes. I HAVE to be where at least one size of the vast sizes in my closet fits. I cannot add another, LARGER size to the mix. My pride just won't allow it.

Yeah, I have even gained weight over the last few months. I have very few things that I feel good in and lately just want to wear fleece that is baggy. I don't have to dress up for work most days, but usually look more together than I have been lately. Just no motivation to do so.

Same here. It's too frustrating relying on ONE day to be right. I would often starve myself for two days, weigh in, then spend the next two to three days eating too much. Not a good cycle! I've hit my "hangry" time of the month and am trying not to eat everything in sight. Dd and I will be doing Body Pump a little later and I want to start working on a list of leg workouts as that is my worst area. We're going to Maui in June and I am determined to feel somewhat comfortable in a bathing suit! Hope everyone has a great evening!

As well as looking good in a bikini, I want to be able to schlepp my own SCUBA tanks without breaking a sweat. 'Hangry'? I'm using that.

I have been feeling pretty *blah* lately and have just been phoning in my runs and eating but, I always eat at least a 500 calorie breakfast and lunch (it sounds like a lot of you don't eat much for these two meals and that could be hindering weight loss---you need to eat to lose ) One of my problems is I'm such a carbaholic---lots of oatmeal, popcorn and bread/toast---I really don't think grains, whether whole or refined, are good for us :/

Hey everybody!
Late getting to this today for some reason.
I'm with those of you who think the scale is crazy stupid. I was down just 1 pound on Monday (my official day) and yet Tuesday and yesterday, the scale had me down another 2 pounds. So crazy! I do think I need to get a new battery for it though, it has been years since I've owned it and I've never changed the battery.
Today was a good on plan day:
Breakfast - coffee & a smoothie (mixed berry, yogurt, almond milk, spinach & ground flax) Lunch - slices of kielbossa, cheese, cucumbers & a wedge of cantaloupe Dinner - sausage & zucchini noodles (everybody else had regular noodles)
I'm thinking of cracking open a bottle of wine and having a glass this evening too!

I am on the "This day may never end. I need a beer, NOW!" diet. This has been a crazy ass week and I am old and tired. I have not worked out much and I have not eaten enough or healthy. And I Don't Care! Sometimes you just have to say $(&$ it. I'll get back on that damned diet horse again tomorrow but for now hand over the box of Russell Stover Chocolates and no one gets hurt.

After crashing and burning the end of January, I feel a fresh start for February. I changed up the workouts and changed some weight bearing exercises around. Maybe I need to do that every month.
I gained 5 pounds but still net a deficit so that is what I think about.
Food was pretty good today. Spicy tomato soup for a late lunch and leftover salmon with a salad for dinner I fill I with decaf coffee and lots of gum.

Hello ladies. I have not exercised in 2 days because I have a VERY BAD cold and my THROAT IS ALL CLOSED UP, and I'm congested. I'm breathing through my mouth currently, which I find incredibly annoying. I have kept up with the eating but not the exercise. Tomorrow is weigh-in day.

Late, late day but I wanted to check in anyways. You guys are motivating!
My take on the scale--put it away. I only step on it if I'm focused on something specific. Last year I did a two month nutrition challenge at my gym. I had to step on the scale every day and I HATED what it did to me mentally.
At the end of the challenge I hadn't lost a single pound. NOT.A.SINGLE.ONE. You know what I did lose? 9% body fat. NINE. I was doing CrossFit 3x a week, running when I could, which is what I'd been doing before, and the only big change I made was I bumped up my protein intake (the rest of my diet, including calories, etc., was pretty much in line with where my coach wanted me to be).
The scale does not define your successes. Write it on a sticky note and put it on your scale. Staple it to your forehead if you need to.
Two days of Oly training down this week and at only 3 weeks in, I'm already seeing some great improvements in some of my deficit areas. I don't weigh myself, but I have a couple pairs of pants that are fitting better at the waist, and one pair that I may have to give away because it does not fit my quads/booty at all (which is fine by me!).
Tonight for dinner I had scrambled eggs with a mix of mushrooms, garlic, bacon, and rosemary. I topped it with some smoky BBQ sauce I still have in the fridge from deconstructed burgers I made a couple of weeks ago. Delicious.
Hang in there everyone...Friday is on the horizon!

I walked about 5 miles today so I am good for exercise. I noticed something which was nice. I need a size down in my favourite pants that I have been wearing. Or I can wear a belt. This is progress. I do still walk on the treadmill as much as I can and I walk for hours at work. (Both good things). Eating? Yeah, well let's say it's not on track.
I am interested to see what I weigh tomorrow, though. I think it has to be down with everything being bigger. As well, the jacket I wore today is now too big, too. I think I will be pretty safe in a medium from now on. Yay!
