I have watched this several times...it's interesting. The Brown's have 7 children, they live in the Alaska bush.
If anyone follows it... it makes me wonder how often the older boys get out to meet potential wives. I only recall one episode where it was mentioned and talked about. Most of the episodes are of the family lifestyle, the men helping their Dad with daily life.
They talk about future grandchildren.... and yet I wonder how they are able to meet anyone.
Those that watch, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Interesting family, I must say.

I like Alaska: The Last Frontier with the Kilcher family. I don't watch the "bush people".

I watched a couple of episodes and I wanted to go back and watch season 1 before continuing just haven't yet. My sister watched and they had lived in the "city" Ketchikan for about a year to raise money to go back and live in the bush. I think one of the sons met a girl during that time, but they were all jonesing to get out of there and back to the bush. Not sure how the parents met each other or where they grew up.

I've only seen the show three or four times but on one of those episodes it was mentioned that the father was born and raised in Texas. As far as finding wives, I just can't see how those boys will ever find someone who would be willing to live the kind of lifestyle they profess to love. So cold, so wet, so.. ugh. To each his own, I guess.

We've watched it. This next one I think they will talk about that very thing. They are very 'off' for me but DH likes that show. The family has been through A LOT. They barter for a lot/most of their belongings and their land. They were kicked out the last place they where in. They're boat sank, loads of other unfortunate events. They showed how the mom got a mouth infection, they couldn't afford to do the procedure she needed but they bought medication with Salmon. The new one is on tonight. '

I watched an episode where the boys got all cleaned up to go to some bar in town to meet girls. Most of those poor boys were so awkward. The one boys pick up line was "Do you like to climb trees?". It was too funny. They all went home alone and I think maybe one got a girls number but didn't have a phone to call her.

Do they live in tents or in a tree trunk? How do you live in the Alaska "bush"? My BFF lives near Russia in AK and it is cold, wet, snowing and cold. (Repeat on a daily basis). She heats her home a lot and they have plenty of civilization where she is (apart from shopping which she uses Amazon.com or Macys.com etc).
Do they hunt and fish for all their food? Do they want to live like First Nations did 1000 years ago without the knowledge the First Nations people had?

DH is fascinated by this show. I don't know how any of them will find mates when the rest of the world needs subtitles to understand what they're saying! Even the two girls talk that way.

They're insane and crack us up, especially when the kids catch fish with their bare hands and feel the need to bash them on a rock. WTF???
I haven't figured out if they have strange accents or speech impediments.

DH loves this show. Something doesn't seem quite right to me, after living in the bush for 30 years I would think they would be better at it. Some of the scraps the family gets into are rookie screw ups. I don't think any of those kids will ever find mates. They are all socially backward and finding a woman that would want to live like that would be very hard. The oldest girl's teeth just drive me nuts. The bottom line I guess is if they are happy more power to, them, they aren't bothering anyone else.

Yes, they hunt for their food, they had some they had when they had to live in town for short bit, but that was really hard on them. For shelters they are building a home with wood they traded for. They had to tie it to the boat to get it 'home' before a storm came. The clothes I don't know about , they seem to have fairly nice clothes so I don't know about that. The last one they were able to get a deer for food. I think it was the girl that got the shot and not one of the boys.
I know I tell Dh that when we watch it that you'd think they would know how to fish better. They do build their houses. Right now their biggest threat is bears.

I've enjoyed reading all the comments on their Facebook page. Lots of stories surrounding them being not as they appear.

My husband is convinced when he retires this is what we're going to do. Obviously he's lost his mind because its not going to happen. It is sweet to show how a family will stick together through thick and thin, even though its unfathomable send to me to live like that.
