SOMEHOW the crock in my slow cooker cracked (I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in my family...yes I am...). Anyway...need a new one. Mine is about 6 years old. Any recommendations? Programmable is a definite need.

I have a new(ish) Ninja 4-in-1 that I love. The "crock" isn't actually pottery, it's non-stick metal, and the cooker mimics stovetop cooking (among other capabilities), not just slow cooking, so you can brown the meat in it before turning it to slow cook. I've also used the stovetop function to bring the pot to a boil before turning it to slow cook, in order to get it going faster.

Hamilton Beach Stay 'n' Go. I have 2 in different sizes. They are the absolute best slow cookers, and fairly inexpensive.

There's a spot for it in my cabinet but I use it so often it rarely gets put away.

Our's is Hamilton Beach (dumbest model possible). Only 4 switches. High, med, low and off. No program, sorry.

I adore my Ninja! I love being able to brown or make gravy before serving.

I wish mine had a lock-able lid. Would be so handy if I needed to take it anywhere.

I have the Hamilton Beach with a lockable lid. It has been awesome! However, you cannot brown in it like the one Lucy is talking about. That would be cool too. The locking lid has come in handy numerous times. I love knowing that I can load it in my car and not worry about any spills.

Just as an aside, I cracked my crock but could order a new one (I have a large, oval one) direct from crockpot. Cost me about $20 shipped.

On a facebook group there are several truckers that use the Ninja and they use a bungee cord to secure the lid while they're driving.

I have the Hamilton Set and Forget one and I love it. The lid can lock and it has a meat thermometer that comes in handy when doing a roast.

I have an Instant Pot, which is an electric pressure cooker that has a slow cooker setting. It's awesome. I don't use the slow cooker setting very much, but I do use it on occasion (today, as a matter of fact; lamb shanks are cooking away upstairs). It has a sauté setting as well, that allows you to brown stuff right in the cooker. I'd highly recommend it - it's one of my very favorite kitchen tools.

I have an all-clad and haven't had any problems. For us, "huge" was the #1 requirement, and it is indeed huge.

I've had the best luck with the "Crock Pot" brand. Hands-down my favorite crock pots.
I bought my daughter the 6-Quart Crock-Pot Brand Digital Slow Cooker with iStir Stirring System for Christmas. I bought it directly from Crock Pot for $40 with no shipping & handling or tax. It's the perfect size for her family and works great.
I'm really interested what the reviews will be for their latest product, the WeMo enabled Crock-Pot. Imagine being able to control your Crock-Pot with your phone? How convenient would that be? Very neat!

This post is so timely. I'm ready to throw out my crockpot. It cooks everything so darn fast that meals get ruined. Today I made a pulled pork, set the stupid thing for 10 hours, came home in 7 and my meat was mushy from being overcooked. There is nothing slower than 10 hrs. I'm at a loss. Mine is stainless steel and called CROCKPOT the original slow cooker. Umm not.

I was just researching the Instant Pot this weekend & I am verrrrrry tempted. Glad to read a good review!
