I'm just in shock watching how much snow you guys have, and what more you've got coming. It's unbelievable. I hope everyone stays safe!

There's so much it looks like it'll never melt. How many days have kids had off of school already?

i'm coastal. The ice is the problem in my area. Glad they cancelled school today. I lost count on the snow days, but I don't mind. They work too hard anyway.

I usually don't mind snow but this is insane. I live in the city proper and there's just nowhere to put it anymore. Streets are more narrower, there's no parking and it's slowly everything down a lot. Wahhh.

I'm north of Boston, close to the NH border, and we are buried. Today is the fourth day I've called out of work because of the snow. It's coming down like crazy! At this point Boston is set to break a previous 30 day record for snow fall but in 16 days!!
The worst thing, after the slippery roads are cleared, is the huge snow banks which make it virtually impossible to get out of side streets or to see cars trying to get out.
It's pretty when it's coming down but dirty snow is depressing.

This is ridiculous!!! I was trying to fling the snow off my stairs over an eight foot bank yesterday. My shoulders are killing me.
Kids are off (again) today, and I'm crossing my fingers that they'll have school tomorrow. The current storm isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow, and we'll end up with a good 20 inches by the time it ends.
I really like snow, but this is crazy. There's no place to put it, and it's crazy dangerous trying to pull out of any intersection with all the high snowbanks.
I work at home, so it hasn't affected my work. DH owns a manufacturing company and closed one day, but he left this morning at 6 to make sure the morning shift could get in the building. Our street isn't even plowed yet -- good thing he has 4-wheel drive.
I said in a different thread that the kids in our town are going until June 30th right now. They'll be taking away vacation days for any snow days after today.

My roof is leaking!!!! And I'm with MaryAnn, you can hardly shovel because the piles are all at least shoulder height. I can hardly walk the dog because the streets in our neighborhood are down to one lane so if a car comes, we have to run into someone's driveway, as hard as it is to pull out of a sidestreet driving, it's impossible walking. I drive an SUV so it's easier to see at the corners, we went to Boston in DH's car over the wknd and I don't know how he does it.
Our school closure message last night also cancelled the planned half day the kids had coming up this Wednesday. DS has had so many activities cancelled because of all the snow days, and it seems to snow every wknd too!

I haven't heard much about power outages, so I hope people at least have that.

Thank You ♥ It is just all too much. Driving anywhere, even down my street is a chore and you can not see around intersections because the snow is too high. Kids are home from school again today. I am sure the people who make a living snowplowing and snowblowing are happy.
eta - sorry about those who have leaks. I can only imagine what spring melting will bring.

Oh I feel your pain! This was me, north of Minneapolis last year. My snowblower would not blow high enough to get over the banks at the end of the driveway and the sidewalk by my front door.
At least ours came in smaller storms.
Hang in there!

Yeah I am going to add more - like someone else said the dirty snow is gross. There are chucks of dirty brown snow everywhere. The salt and sand everywhere is gross. I want to just wash it all away.

We don't have nearly as much as the Boston area but we have at least 3 feet on the ground. And we've had at least another 8-9 inches since this storm started. The worst is not being able to see around the snowbanks to get out of side streets. I pray every time I pull out that no one is coming. Here are a couple of pics from the last storm...I'll try to take some pics today when we go out to clean up since there's considerably more out there now.

It's become annoying, and i'm with Brandy, the snowbanks are ridiculous and it's so dangerous trying to get out of side streets! The town I grew up in, actually trucked the snow out of the entire center to the sidewalks are clear and there are no banks. Wish more could do that it was so nice to drive around there!
Today is day 5 of snow days for us. We had 2 last week, 2 the week before that. I am ready for Spring!

I have to be in Boston from the 13th-18th for work and it's IMPERATIVE that I'm back on the 19th as we leave for our cruise. I'm just hoping and praying that snow avoids that area for those days.

Brandy-the sky is so ominous in those pictures.
I'm good with snow through New Year's Day; after that I want sunshine and flowers. I'd be so done.

Still snowing here (Boston's Metrowest area) and it's coming down harder than ever. Looks like another Monday off for us, which, normally would be great, but I have so much work sitting on my desk at work that is not getting done so tomorrow will be complete madness.

These aren't great -- it's very gray out today and still snowing hard. But from my driveway and back porch: eta: I can't get that last pic any smaller. There's a set of stone steps under there somewhere.

I do love living in an area where we have all four seasons. But winter gets old really quickly. We don't see a lot of sun and have many days like what you see in the pictures. Drab, overcast and just plain ol' ugh. LOL

I'm in the SW Chicago suburbs and while we've had a few snow doozies in my lifetime, absolutely nothing compared to that.

I'm north of Boston, not too far from Kellee... I've lived in the area my entire life, and this is the most snow I've seen on the ground. Getting out of driveways and side streets is impossible due to no visibility. It's still coming down like mad now. This is my 3rd Monday off from work in a row, and I only work 3 days a week. Ugh! Today is snow day #5 for the kids, and DH's office is closed (he is working from home though). Our offices have never closed so much in a single winter as they have in the last 3 weeks. I have a feeling it will be May or so until it all melts...
Stay safe everyone!

MY DH just got home from Boston last night. He said the snow in the city is unreal!! (And we are CANADIAN! LOL) He said there is no room for any more to be put anywhere, they are going to have to truck it out of the city soon.
We have been snowing for two days now. Weather said it wasn't going to snow at all today and we were only supposed to get 5cm on Sunday, but we've got almost twenty in the last 24 hours! Not much, but when you put it with the 30cm we got last week, it's just crazy. I know we are used to snow but seems like we are all getting our whole winter in one month!!!
I have a drift in my backyard that has to be eight feet. It's taller than our six foot fence at this point!

Have any of you mmk valley peas been out yet today? It is crazy cold!! The snow blowing on your skin feels like pin pricks. DH was trying to clear our room and I was holding the ladder so all the snow was dumping right on me, I was standing in piles up to my thighs. Normally the cold doesn't bother me, but I guess I'm shoveling or moving more than just standing there holding a cold metal ladder!
DS shoveled the front porch steps and walkway and I just did a little area at the back door, but it was like 3 feet deep of the stuff he shoveled off the roof. DH is running the snowblower now but it's still snowing very hard so we will have to go out for another round later.
Anyone know of a reputable ice dam guy?
