I am on my company's team for the MS150 (~180 mile charity bike ride). As part of our training, they have made arrangements with this really nice club to do private spin classes. The class is great, BUT, it's at 12:30, so there are showers involved/reapplying makeup, etc. So my question is: What do you carry in your gym bag for getting ready? Do you have a separate set of makeup? Are there travel kits that would work? I don't wear a ton of makeup, but I don't want to have to pack/unpack every day that I go to the gym. The reason I'm asking is because I am clearly doing it wrong. I packed some makeup that I don't use that probably came in an Ipsy bag or something. I came back to work and I had quite a few people ask me if I was feeling ok. I'd like to avoid that in the future.

Ha! I will verrrrrrrrry occasionally try to squeeze a workout in at lunch, but the majority of the time I don't do it specifically because of the time it takes to get presentable again. Not sure that I have any words of wisdom for you other than to say if you expect it to be a regular thing, I would probably buy duplicates of everything and just keep it in your gym bag. I have forgotten things before and it's stressful. I once swam on my lunch hour and then got out of the pool to find I had forgotten my hairbrush! Eeek!

First of all I don't sweat that much, if I use the treadmill at lunch time then yes my face and hair looks different so I shower. But if I'm just sitting on a bike for 45 min, I don't shower. I do reapply deodorant (just in case, don't really know if its necessary) and change my underwear. I don't wear much makeup to work to begin with so no reapplying. I currently only own one deodorant and thought it might be prudent to have two so I can keep one at work.
I keep my flipflops at work because once I forgot them and had to put a towel down on the floor, there was no wear I was standing barefoot in the shower.

When I used to do this way before having kids, I just kept all my regular make up and brushes, etc. in one of those large travel bags from Target. I think I kept a small bottle of hair spray in it and our gym provided shampoo, etc. Then when I packed for a gym morning, I just grabbed the entire bag from my bathroom and put it in the gym bag.

@tallgirl, I think you are right. I'm just going to have to buy duplicates of everything. I do have to say, though, that I really enjoyed not having the struggle after work with the "Do I go to the gym or do I catch up on last night's tv." And you're right about the time factor. If this were not a company-sponsored deal, I don't think I could justify the almost 2 hours I'm out of office. However, I do plan on attempting a switch to working out before work, so the same situation applies. At least then, I would start out bare-faced, and not trying to correct a mess!

annabella - generally spin classes don't involve just sitting on a bike for 45 minutes. I sweat more in spin class than on a treadmill or elliptical.
OP - If it's something I'm going to be doing for a short time, I bring my home make-up bag. But if I'm doing it for months, I will slowly buy duplicates, including toiletries and hair essentials. I always seem to forget something. Good luck on the MS150! I did it last year. Grueling, but it sounds like you are getting some good training. Are you doing the weekend bike rides (especially the hill ones)?

When I used to workout at a gym before work I always had a second set of bathroom supplies (shampoo, face soap, soap, etc...) for my gym bag, but would use the same make-up bag from home. I don't use a lot of make-up so it isn't feasible to have a duplicate set.
My gym bag contained: full set of workout clothes/tennis shoes bathroom supplies (see above) brush | hair dryer (if they don't provide or you don't like) | hair products shower shoes towel headphones/ipod grab makeup bag from home

This will be my 5th time doing it (actually 4 1/2 since one year the first day was canceled). But, this is my first year with my company, so I felt it was a good networking opportunity.
