I noticed on the weekly reading thread that several people mentioned using Oyster. I am considering starting my free trial before we go on vacation. If you are a subscriber, what are your thoughts? Any major Pro/Cons that a new user should know about? How many books can you have out at a time? I have an iPad and both kids have Kindle Fires. Can we all three have books out at the same time?
Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated!!

Have you checked with your local library? I am a librarian and my library offers Overdrive. You can check out ebooks and audiobooks for three weeks at a time, place holds, create wish lists, etc. All you need is a library card and it's free! -k

I'd also love to hear from someone who's a subscriber.
My library has a terrible, seriously sparse selection of ebooks, and I am thinking about giving this a go.

The closest library is 30 minutes away and we don't qualify as residents, so would have to pay to join their library system.

I love love love oyster! I use my library, but selection and waiting lists were terrible. I was using book bub and amazon deals to grab cheap ebooks, but even then I was spending $15-20 a month. So, I signed up off of a friend on Facebook, getting $15 off my first month. So far I've read 13 books. I read a lot of different genres and my reading list is huge. I don't think I'll run out of books to read. Here is my link if you want to join. You and I each get $15 off. Check out Oyster – endless ebooks for your iPad and iPhone! Join via my invite link and get $15 towards reading: www.oysterbooks.com/invite/ameyerwolff

How long is the trial period? I just looked at the site: the trial period is a month. I'm leaving for vacation this week, so I think I'll start mine just before and see how I like it. While I have oodles of books on my Nook (unfortunately, not a Nook HD, so won't work with Oyster), there are so many more that I really want to read and just can't justify at $7.99 to $9.99 a pop. If I find lots that I like, $9.99 per month would be a huge savings---and I'll happily read on my IPad instead of the Nook!

I never thought about it that way. Can you have the book as long as you like? (I would check but I'm at work and not very many websites that work allows me to have access to)

For instance, a book for me and one or two for the kids.

My daughter and I are both using it at the same time. From what I can tell you can have unlimited books out for any length of time.

Are the books available through Oyster limited to lendable ones or are non-lendable books available as well?
