I've googled this but nobody really explains the feeling. Perhaps that is an odd question?? So if you've had one, can you describe it?
My pain is just to right of my c-section scar (not on, but at that level of my stomach) and hard. It is making me have the sensation of my skin pulling. The other side is pliable.
I've been told I have had an ovarian cyst before (identified by ultrasound) but I didn't even know it. I just knew I had a pain, they were looking for something and found it. The fact this has feeling is what is different. They didn't do anything for it but watch it which makes me think that if this was a cyst they would do the same.
Can't make a Dr.'s appointment tonight but if it doesn't feel better by morning I might.

When I have one, its pain on one side, very very uncomfortable. I ended up in er 2x because of it. Feels like menstrual cramps x1000 (to me at least)

The one I had that ended up causing me a lot of trouble felt like some evil monster was inside me hitting me with a hammer, clawing the walls, grabbing things and twisting them. It was excruciating and I couldn't even stand up and could hardly walk. Mine had actually twisted my Fallopian tube and was basically choking the ovary though, it ended up rupturing and the ovary exploded. I don't know when the normal cyst pain started and ended compared to the other issue though. I will say it was sudden and severe.

I didn't know an ovary could explode! Did they remove it? I thought I was having back spasms because I also have a history of back problems. It is nothing for my back to be locked up and screwy. Sometimes it is hard to know when I can't stand up and walk because of my back vs. anything else. This week has been excruciating with back pain... Hmmm. More to think about.

It hurt a lot. More than appendicitis.

I have had many ovarian cysts. Almost felt like a tickle/pulling inside your lower left or right abdomen.
When a cyst burst, I thought that someone had shot me, the pain was instant, and I almost jumped out of my skin. I went to the ER where they did an ultrasound and exam and determined that it was a ruptured cyst.
It could also be scar tissue that is growing due to the incision from your c-sec. I have had a complete hysterectomy along with 2 c-sec and now I have a lot of scar tissue. It has a nagging pain that comes & goes. Nothing can be done about scar tissue as it tends to grow back and it is a no-win situation.

They had to take that half of my Fallopian tube and what was left of the ovary out. The surgery took a lot longer than it was supposed to because they had to remove all the ovary "shrapnel" as my husband so elegantly put it.

I know I've had at least one ovarian cyst because it ruptured a week after DS was born. I didn't feel anything from the cyst - no pain or discomfort, but when it ruptured I was in the worst pain of my life. The pain of natural childbirth was very fresh in my mind and I would happily go through that again before I want to go through a ruptured cyst again.

Also, depending on where it's at, the pain can radiate down your leg, up your back. It is a constant pain that no pain reliever can alleviate. It always feels worse before it gets better. It slowly builds up in pain as it grows, when/if it ruptures the pain is immense. I've had cysts impair my ability to walk and use my arm. The worst cyst I had was in my spine. Not my tail bone. I've had one there, too. Not a sebaceous cyst under the skin. But in my spine. On my ligaments and organs. I eventually had to have my ovaries removed because of it. The doctors still don't know why I continue to have these issues but a complete hysterectomy hasn't stopped it.

It's pretty much the worst pain in the universe. I had one rupture, and the pain started out like a backache. Over several hours the pain got progressively worse and intense. It got to the point where I could not walk. I literally crawled from my then boyfriends (now husband) bedroom to call my dad to tell him that I was going to the ER (I was at college). The whole drive there I cried every single time my boyfriend hit a bump. It was absolutely horrible. They gave me a ton of pain killers in the hospital, and it knocked me out. After 18 hours I was fine. It was so weird.

I'm so used to them now I no longer seek medical attention the majority of the time. They have never been able to help or identify what causes it. It's just something I live with.

In general, mine cysts feel like I am carrying around a 12lb bowling ball on one ovary. I have had them bleed out, twist around my ovary, rupture, removed during childbirth... you name it. They are all different. Just swell & lots of womanly fun! The worst was when I was brought to the ER at 19 doubled over in pain after one ruptured in the middle of the night. They thought I had appendicitis. I couldn't stand straight, was short of breath, just an awful, burning, heavy feeling inside. Like the poster above me said, there isn't really anything anyone can do, so you ride the pain out. I get my heavy bowling-ball feeling monthly. Its painful but I load-up on meds and my heating packs. It is what it is. Feel better!

I remember crossing the street, and being unable to lift my leg at the curb to get back up onto the sidewalk. A sharp, grabbing, pulling pain.

I've had 3 cystectomies for ovarian cysts. 2 laparoscopic and 1 the cyst was so big, they couldn't take it out laparoscopicly and had to open up my c section scar to get at it. The last one was huge (about the size of a small football). The pain is unbearable. Like a pulling, twisting sensation every time you move. It gets worse and doesn't wean off. (at least for me). If you get ovarian torsion, where the cyst twists the ovary and sometimes the whole fallopian tube, it is excruciating pain. Feels like someone is reaching in and twisting your insides out. If you suspect a cyst and the pain gets worse, I'd skip the doctor and go right to the ER. You can lose your ovary and tube (like someone else on the thread said happened to her) and even more complications can arise. I hope you are okay and that it's an easy fix.

I've had them regularly for years and have never really felt them. I guess one has never really burst just sort of dissolves, and gets replaced by a new one.

I had right sided pain that made me double over; pain I never experienced before. I thought it was appendicitis (but no fever or vomiting.) It slightly subsided after 45 minutes. If it didn't go away I was going to head to the ED. The next day I was still tender but not in pain. The gyn said it was "probably" a cyst that ruptured.

With one I had a period every 15days. With the others it's squeezing, stabbing or burning and extreme nausea. It hurts when they rupture but then the pain goes away. I get them regularly with the endometriosis.

I can't speak personally, but my daughter has had them & they put her in the hospital 2x. She was doubled over in pain & throwing up. It was awful. The 2nd time they admitted her & prepared her for surgery, but right before the surgery the cyst burst. So they kept her the rest of the day then sent her home. She said it's the worst pain she ever wants to know!

Thanks ladies. I'm sorry so many of you have had them and that they were so brutal.
I'm sure it is/was a cyst but is much, much better today.

Depends on what type it is. The giant over 5 pound dermoid cyst I had (my standard warning, don't google dermoid cyst unless you have a strong stomach. they are freaky things, not the regular fluid filled cyst.) went into torsion. That's the day I learned what going crazy from the pain truly meant.
I joke it tried to eat my insides. It was attatched to both ovaries & uterus, shoved my bladder to the side (they couldn't find my bladder thru the ultrsound when they first looked), but also adhered to it, sliced thru my colon in 2 different spots, & adhered to my stomach. So when it went into torsion, that giant cyst started to twist, & tried to take everything it was adhered to with it.
Unfortunately for me, I was living in Japan on a U.S military base. The E.R Doctor decided I was having an eptopic pregnancy & would not administer pain medication until he proved it. So I went thru living hell with no pain medication. I was sent home with a ticking time bomb inside me until I got into OB/GYN on Tue. (it went into torsion Sat.), becuase of course it was the 4th of July weekend, & the military gets 3 day weekends. When the Gyn. examined me, she damn near fell over. I had so many people called into the ultrasound room to look at/confirm what they were seeing. Fun times, I tell you. That's why I always tell people to get to the Doctor if you think you have an ovarian cyst. I had previously had functional cysts, one that twisted & landed me in the E.R. I thought I was having trouble with another functional cyst, & deployed my typical behavior, ignoring it & hoping it would go away. If that dermoid cyst had opened inside me, I wouldn't be here. So if you suspect a cyst, please have it checked out.

I had a very large cyst. At times it felt like something pulling or pressing inside of me. Not really any pain, just a weird pulling or internal pressure sensation. Other times I had a strange feeling of heaviness on that side of my abdomen. But most of the time I didn't feel anything at all.
Now when it went into torsion that was another story entirely. I can't put words to the level of pain I felt. Just this overwhelming searing point of pain inside of me.

I had a grapefruit-sized dermoid one that I didn't know I had, and I thought that was big. I can't even imagine! Wow. That's just downright scary.
I must also wholeheartedly agree to the caution about googling. Those puppies are NOT pretty.
