I've always included actual memorabilia (e.g. event programs, game tickets, destination maps, report cards) on my layouts/in my albums. Unfortunately, my rate of scrapping does not keep pace with the accumulation of memorabilia. My current dilemma is organizing & storing memorabilia gathered from various events/activities/trips over several years, so everything is easily identified, accessible, & occupies a small amount of space. What is your solution for managing memorabilia? TIA.

I use Ziploc bags for storing this kind of stuff. Then I use a Sharpie to write the event on the outside of the bag.

I use 9x12 kraft envelopes. You can get a box of 100 or so at a decent price at office supply stores or Walmart/Target. Just checked mine and mine is a box of 150. I just write the date/place/event on the outside, stick the memorabilia in, clasp it close, and put it in a file box. The envelopes are organized by date so I can easily find what I need (when I get around to actually scrapping the event). I used to use regular manila folders but smaller pieces got loose so I switched to the envelopes. Love this method, lol.

I have a 2.5 gallon-sized zippy bag for each kid that I put their important memorabilia in. I label the date and what layout I want it included with on a post it note and stick it on the back of the ticket stub, award, etc.
For events or vacations, they get their own zippy.
Pretty much, each album gets their own zip bag.

Thank you for your replies & ideas. Clear bags & kraft envelopes are economical options (compared to the discontinued Cropper Hopper Page Planner inserts which I used until I ran out of them a couple years ago, resorted to tossing everything in lined baskets with Cropper Hopper Dividers ineffectively segregating events, & now have a disorganized mess)! jeanene & LavenderLayoutLady - Once you bag the memorabilia, do you store it in a basket/bin/box, on a shelf, in your craft space, in a closet, or under a bed? angelpea - Where do you store the file box - in your craft space or closet? Please feel free to share what works for you...

Please feel free to share what works for you… The file box just sits in front of my Expedit. To be honest, it got its "own spot" because it's not in the middle of the room, I rarely walk past it, and it doesn't cover up a much-used Expedit cube. I'm constantly adding new envelopes and looking through old ones so I didn't want to put the box away in a closet. Oh, and another reason I like using the kraft envelopes is that I don't need a lid for the box.

I use file folders for each month so I can just dump it in - currently keep ~ 1 year that way; anything older than that I try to make into kits with the photos so that it bumps up on my to do.
I like the monthly folders because if I decide not to do a full layout, I can then pull the bits and pieces for the monthly summaries I do (my version of project life).

Do you actually scrap the memorabilia this way or does it still sit in a to do pile (which is what I suspect would happen if I tried this).

I tend to mostly scrap my vacations. I sort all the locations into separate envelopes then toss them all in a bag. Unless I specifically remember I have the ephemera to include I tend to forget about it until after I've done the layout it belongs to - clearly not an efficient way to do things.
I'm nearing the end of the vacation album I've been working on for the last couple of years so I've been able to slot all the photos into empty page protectors where they will go in the album. I sat down and added all the memorabilia to the relevant pockets for these pages so I can make sure I include it.

Most of my memorabilia comes from vacations, so I just put everything inside a plastic envelope that has a Velcro closure and toss it in the bin with my themed stuff for that trip. I found the envelopes a long time ago in a box of about 36 for cheap, so I bought several boxes of them knowing I could eventually use them for sorting a lot of things.

day to day memorabilia is put into a expandable monthly accordion file m.staples.com/touch/product.html?cid=CSE:GoogleBase:293118&sk_test=a#293118I have one per year. Long Vacations get a 13x13 poly pocket. We don't do these very often so I don't have A lot. I can find everything I need this way. I don't print photos until I'm going to scrap them so I don't need to keep them stored Together.

For Kids school stuff they each have a large box in our great room that I put all projects and papers for the year. At the end of the year I transfer it to a file box. The large boxes are kept right where the kids empty their backpacks and do homework so it is super convenient which is why it works For us. I got nice, big boxes from Ms so that they fit in with the room decor.

I keep and scrap memorabilia. I just put everything for the year in a file folder, and I store the file folders in a file crate. (I used to have them in a filing cabinet, but the cabinet took up too much room, so I got rid of it, and the crates are in the bottom of the closet in my craft room.) But it sounds like most of the others have a need for storing more than what will fit in a file folder. (Note: If I have memorabilia from a trip, it stays with the photos of the trip, it does not go in the annual file folder.)

I use Ziploc bags for storing this kind of stuff. Then I use a Sharpie to write the event on the outside of the bag. I do this too. I am a themed scrapper, so I have Iris containers for the themes I tend to scrap a lot (Christmas, vacation, kid stuff, day trips, etc.) and I toss the bags in the corresponding Iris container so it's there when I pull out all the stuff to scrap that particular layout.

Big kraft envelopes and then they're kinda filed in a bin. It works ok for now.

Since I store supplies by theme, I put memorabilia in the box of supplies I will use when I scrap the photos. I also have photo boxes and often place memorabilia with the photos it goes with in the photo box.

Chinagirl828 - I find it does work, probably because I also do mostly vacation albums, so at any one time my stack of individual event page kits (as opposed to whole or at least large sections of albums in progress) is pretty small. I keep them all in a 3 ring binder so it's easy to grab for crops.

For my travel items I usually take a CM File Mate (sadly no longer made, but I still buy them on Ebay) on vacation. I prefer this one because it is 12x10. It's like a plastic file organizer with several slots in it. I like it because it has a space for every day, and it keeps my brochures, maps, tickets, napkins and everything else nice and flat and crease free. Once I get home from my trip I label the outside (it has a slot for that) and store it in my scrap room.
For all other memorabilia I like to file it in 81/2 x 11 page protectors and ring binders for albums I have in mind of making. This includes concert tickets, ski trip lift tickets, and so on.
For memorabilia I think will come in handy one day I put these in an acid free 12x12 box.
